Who actually didnt vote or wont today?

I raise my hand as being one of the non voters. One, I live in a state known for being a blue aka Democrat. (Ok when the terminator was foolishly elected gov here that was an exception). I am honestly not worried about my state of Cali.

If it was Texas, I might vote as it is known for being a red state aka Repub. And I do want Beto O'Rourke to beat Ted Cruz.

Secondly with all the voting booth tampering going on more and more, I am increasingly cynical about voting.

Thirdly, this may be selfish but I dont want to be put up for Jury Duty. Which happens within 2 months of registering to vote for me.

And lastly, I am really starting to get George Carlin's viewpoint on Voting. Watch here -

@therabbit -

Just a reminder - The state I currently live in which is Cali is known for being a blue state. I've already researched and pretty much know the odds are in the dems favor. So I feel comfortable in sitting this out

Even though I am an independent I tend to vote democrat as the repub party does not connect with me at all or ever.

Thirdly, voting tampering is becoming more and more of a common issue. That is why I am reticient as well to vote.

I am not against other people voting. I am just cynical on the process as George Carlin so eloquently explains.

California may be blue overall as a state but, for example, Orange County is a red county. So this vote determines many things at a state level not a national level.

But no worries. You didn’t vote so that makes my vote 2xs as powerful. God bless.

Plus in these midterms, you're not just voting for 1 candidate like in a Presidential election. Even in a blue area like here, you're likely weighing in on at least 10 races in addition to numerous ballot measures.

Exactly.

And ballot measures very rarely are ‘blue’ or ‘red’ issues. Like one of the ones we are voting on for LA county is a measure to pass rent control.

Do you want to have lower rents?

Do you want to see neighborhoods retain their culture and avoid gentrification? If so vote yes.

Are you a sketch landlord who wants to be all about the greed? Vote no.

Zero to do with being red or blue.

A few final thoughts-

There are some people like me with Beto being the exception, dont find the current candidates for either party to their liking.

I am not voting for someone I dont believe in using the lesser evil analogy. That is not good enough for me.

Some candidates are not a fit for people. Others that are being zealous in regards to voting should be more respectful of that.

The more overzealous people get to others who are undecided about voting, the more likely you are to turn them off it.

I am not against other peeps wanting to vote. Rock on, but dont shame others for different life choices then you. That's a dictatorial mindset pure and simple

We have one here that's similar in some respects on one ballot measure..

Republicans - 'More drilling and fracking on public lands 'cause 'Merica needs energy independence and jobs!'

Sensible person -

1. America is already the #1 producer of oil in the world. Most people don't know this.

2. I thought unemployment was at 4% , you can't have it both ways.

3. All the profits go to big multinational corps. not to the people.

4. The water table in the West is drying up so let's pollute the little water we do have through fracking.

For anyone that shames and harrases others that dont vote -

https://reason.com/blog/2018/10/31/its-ok-not-to-vote

This is BS. You should vote, every vote is critically important especially in this current political climate. People who have the opportunity to vote today but refuse, are implying that they are either too ignorant or lazy to inform themselves on what's going on. Or they just simply don't care about other people. Specifically minority groups who have been under attack and have had their rights taken away. Along with not caring whether our democracy remains as such, or whether we watch our planet die or fix it..which is our own fault.

So no I will judge you harshly for not taking about 30 mins out of your day to get off your ass and vote for a better future for everyone.

That is a dictatorial mentality in which you are forcing your viewpoint onto someone. Instead of respecting their view and agreeing to disagree.

You better do some further research on voting tampering as it is getting worse. I'm not doing anything until that is more under control.

Lastly, this is the internet. Someone judging me that I dont know has zero importance to me. Sorry I have better things to then worry about a stranger on the internet striking me down.

Lol no it's not. If it was I'd have you dragged in by chains and force you to vote or throw you in prison like an actual dictatorship.

I support freedom of rights. But by not voting you're making a decision that has consequences. I will call anyone out on that. And if you mean voter fraud that's widely overstated. But PS, you know how you can fix voter tampering... legislation.

Again this is also real people's lives on the line that should have importance to you.

My main reason right now though for not voting is the prospect of Jury Duty. In the past I have gotten called for Jury duty within a month after voting.

Jury duty pays jack squat, and I cant afford to take time off work and lose money. Especially when I am trying to escape a toxic living situation by Feb of 19

If that is selfish, so be it. This is about saving money so I can get out of an exploitative living situation period.

Such a fallacy to use that as an excuse, just say you don't want to vote period. I was non-registered my first 8 years I moved states and I still got jury duty.

I have many reasons for not voting but that was the main one. In my 30 something years on this earth, the only time I have been called for jury duty was right after I registered to vote.

Otherwise I never got called when I wasnt registered. It has been like that for me for a long time. I've went over 10 years without getting called.

Then I voted during the time when Obama was seeking reelection. Within a month after getting registered, I got called for jury duty.

So working under the radar has been going very well for me. I'll plan to stick to what works.

Oprah should have gave everyone in Georgia a tit job can't win any other way.

You can't win anyway if the Republicans cheat. I will be surprised if Georgia is anything but red.

Enjoy another four years of trump bro.

Lol that's not happening...in fact it's impossible. Things are looking ok so far for blue but not for some states.
