P, I have a friend out in New Zealand (Right next to Aussie).

Here's the cool thing you might like since you like the beach. Their seasons are backwards to ours so while we're freezing for the winter months, it's summer time / beach weather over there. From what I'm told, BBQ's at the Beach are quite common for Christmas.
