Do you take it seriously? Or do you goof off around it? Is this really even a place you can judge people based off the conversations they post?

Some people take it seriously. Some people don't. I'm on the latter (admittedly). And it's pretty obvious as I'm using an account name and profile picture that seems cartoonish. Whenever people take me seriously, and I won't mention names here, it just kills the fun.

Yet I don't understand how people can take an ASTROLOGY board seriously because if I am going to start serious conversations, I won't even log on here. I'd log on to sites where I would expect fruitful conversations like skyscrapercity.com and pinoyexchange.com (for academic purposes).

If you have fought with me in the past, it really grates on my nerves if you take me seriously. Read my posts again and see if I have ever responded to apparently "insulting/demeaning" posts. I don't even respond to them because I know they aren't being serious. I won't even fight off with such persons. And perhaps, I have only fought with two people at most (surprise surprise!) because I am generally a peace-loving person and I have such high tolerance to rude people. Moreover, this isn't a place you really have to take seriously.

Sometimes, it annoys me when people take the boards seriously as if we are talking about important matters that could affect the society or the world we are living in, and as if we are having some discussions that are meant for academic purposes.

The people who take the boards seriously yet get my highest forms of respect are the ones who will never fight with anyone here. They deserve special mention. They are TMV and Ixion. Read their posts. You will never read anything from them where they fight with anyone. They keep their composure no matter what and will never try to degrade you or antagonize you, in any form whatsoever.

I still remember that no matter how crazy CluelessCancer can be, TMV tries to appease her. There was even a time when CC posted an admiration thread to TMV. To me, that is the true "CLASS," and not one that will stoop to another person's stupidity or post sarcastic remarks, and, worse, take pride in having done so.

If you want to start serious conversations with me, hesitate. I don't want to waste my brain cells for something or some things I don't even consider that important. This is not the place for me to start conversations that concern the society or the entire world. This is ASTROLOGY

I learned not to take any of this seriously my first wk on this site. And I'm usually not serious so it's super hilarious when folks write back to me thinking I am lol. Dxp to me is like a public restroom-online.

Sometimes, as much as I want to make fun of the people who take me seriously, the more they even get more serious, and more annoying. @_@ It's even worse when the people I'm talking about take pride in their sarcasm as if they know all too well the kind of person they are talking to. It really grates my nerves when people are like that.

My issue is the disrespect. You can take DXP seriously or as a big joke, BUT respect should still be first and foremost.

also, you have alot of signs (that will remain nameless) who hold on to hurt or misdirect their anger. Kinda like road rage or they get bullied offline and become the bully online. You have no idea what goes on in someone's life offline. Kind of like instagram relationship, only showing the positives.

I love reading the stories here. Some are outta this world.

Dmv-It's the world we live in. I blame the media...look at the stuff that gets the highest ratings and the magazines that make the most money...

Folks that are already predisposed to the negativity because of unresolved hurts or issues feed off it. Before you know it, their life wants to imitate "art."

I see it in real life not just the net.

I did not think about the affect the media has on peoples' mentality. especially these reality shows were women are seen as strong because they can curse someone out the best.

The hate threads are annoying. The race baiting threads are annoying. The trolling just to be "cool" is annoying. Being rude just to show "you keep it real" is annoying. The cliquish behavior is annoying and played out. But you gotta take the good with the bad on dxp. There are some insightful topics here and there. And I enjoy interacting with most posters, and won't let a few annoying ones ruin the fun.

there are insightful topics. youre right, you just have to weed through the cloud of BS.

Not adressing this site in particular or any specific situation, but the "I was just joking! Why are you taking it so seriously? You are being so emotional!" talk is getting redundant, not just here but on the internet in general, where there is no visual or auditive interaction between people to indicate whether they are being serious, sarcastic, mocky or anything else. If you didn't make it in some way known that you were "joking", the above are nothing but a bunch of excuses to get you out of a messy situation, as "the cooler one" at that. Yeah, offend people, curse them out and then play the "It's the netz, why so srs?" card. What do you expect them to say.. "OH! nevermind then, stupid me for taking offense."?. If everything is a joke to you then that's perfectly fine, but not everyone is you. You know that you're a real person talking to real people. Some will just stand there and take it, some will play along and some will want to defend themselves, rightfully.

There is joking around and having fun and there is mockery/trolling/however you wanna call it. There's a difference. The internet should't be a playground for anonymous bullies with the almighty excuse of "You shouldn't take me seriously."

^^ they get loose over at Lindaland

Lindaland is way more cliquish than dxpnet. You have to get into the right circles to get responses from anyone aside from the moderators. Nevertheless, the depth of astrology knowledge is excellent at Lindaland. I google lindaland threads before I even look to dxp for astrology information.

And nah, there is no looseness of any kind at Lindaland, it's heavily moderated. On one hand, it's nice to have some structure, on the other hand it hinders the natural flow because it's strict.

ElsaElsa is a nice balance between dxpnet and lindaland, but it's a smaller forum.

yeah they are heavily moderated over there. I read a few older threads were people were taking grimey to each other.

theres also more validation and coddling over there. I read this one thread where this girl who was married or whatever but she wanted to know about her connection to this other man and ppl all on board with helping her foster such a connection.

What I love is when people get their panties in a bunch over racism...

The continue to spew sexism all the place like Peter North busting a nut.

Or they degrade people for their astro placements.

are you a person of color?

Hypocrisy knows no color.

So thats a no. IMO, racism is a touchy subject. you can talk about race issues and such but still be respectful of people. A racism discussion doesnt have to include the N word or any other word that people around here throw out to degrade people.

Dxp is cool when everyones being respectful. Who doesn't want respect?!

In case you haven't looked around lately, this site looks SUPER cheap (ghetto) and runs as such.

That in itself attracts low morale which in turn fills threads up with disgusting garbage no one moderates.

Its a free for all. If your mother didn't treat you right as a child, spill that garbage here-as long as you're only talking shi.t about the sign and not making reference to race, its ok.

If you were bullied in school by one or two members from a certain racial group, exercise your demons here.

Both scenarios ALWAYS find supporters that'll feed the beast.

Even if we can't see or speak, it will not change a thing.

People will always find something to set themselves apart from others.
You can't possibly just fit under five categories. You are an individual...I think what everyone ask for by the end of day is to be recognized as an individual but to belong
at the same time.

Common courtesy and respect for differences is enough. Simple home training anyone should have been taught by the time they reached adulthood. Yes I know, this is the internet, I'm expecting too much.

I bet rabbit brought the race thing up on purpose.

Scorpio's are super manipulative.

i rest my case.

Please explain your "case"...

Is it that racism is bad but sexism, homophobia, etc. are acceptable?

i never said that.

That isn't what I asked.

Is racism unacceptable but other forms of discrimnation acceptable?

hmm

your last response is interesting and quite laughable. If you go back to prior pages, i asked you more than one direct question, and i responded to you the same way you responded to me.

lets not insult both of our intelligence here.

this topic has only been recycled 852 times by posters who have been butthurt......742 of those times were by leo moons.

this is only the 125th time it's been derailed and turned into a race thread.

^ And 564 times those sources of butthurt came from this user. *cough*

It'd be nice to take this site as fun and games, but there is so much bs and psychosis behind the scenes that it goes from being fun and games to dramallama bullshit. But blocking those nutty individuals and avoiding that mind numbing chatroom clique will keep the experience relatively okay.

I also find it lol that the ones who cry about others taking this site too seriously are usually the ones who are the center of drama and issues behind the scenes... because they take all of this shit oh so srs.

With the exception of one individual, I have zero people here on Facebook. I don't come here with the intention of making "friends," and just read/comment for something to do when winding down from the day/kill time. Many people here consider a lot of users here "friends" have them on social media, communicate outside of the website, have even met, and hell, some meet up to fuck eachother. They're also the ones who are the center of drama, creating drama threads that have flooded over from whatever nonsense happens in chat.

I'd say that's taking this website pretty seriously. When I first learned about the instances above, I was kind of surprised because this is JUST a website/forum to exchange ideas based around astrology and advice on the related matters as well as a place to just bs. Maybe I'm one of the few that has learned to keep the internet dealings on the internet, because... internet. *shrugs*

People are getting sex from dxpnet? And here I am wasting time making posts, when I could be getting laid. I'm always the last to know. 😢

Getting sex AND attempting to treat this place as a dating site.

It's okay. Given some of the personal experiences you've shared in the dating pool, it sounds about the same sooo you're not missing much haha.

Thank you for the commendation FB your kind words are noted but I have to mirror some of the sentiments of Seraph's and the vast majority of Theatrum's comments.

There isn't a baseline established on DXP for perception. Everyone on this site perceives your comments and antics differently as you know or should know.

One of the most important parts of communication is to speak in such a way that you are understood by the person/s you are speaking to you know? If your intent is to be funny then you have to think what would be funny for the group you are trying to make laugh...if you find you are failing at making them laugh well then it is time to try something new something more effective.

I don't intend to make everyone laugh, Ixion. I only intend to elicit funny comments from some people, which almost always seem to work. I admit I do sound annoying but it's always coupled with the intention of eliciting funny comments. Not all will perceive it as funny I know but I and some others do.

However, if I do provoke some fights, for the record, I've only had one beef with another regarding the matter.

Regarding the drama-rama some of you may perceive, it wasn't. It was all intended to elicit some funny remarks. Some of the folks LOLed even. I just had to post this thread to make it clear that it's really troubling whenever somebody takes me seriously.

I guess, the jokes have to come to an end then if it's not making me happy anymore.

I feel your pain, bud...you come to have fun and people kill it with their bad energy.

I play it back at them by doing things that make me "look" just as emotional as they are... like closing threads and start a new 1 right after or using a boat load of grammar and spelling errors lol.

You have to disconnect yourself emotionally here cuz getting upset at folks you'll never meet is kinda lame. No disrespect to you.

You're absolutely right. I came here for fun... but if people also come here to spread bad vibes, then I must really leave.

@Seraph and Ixion, I don't intend to make you laugh nor ever tried to be a person of class (here in DXP). I am not here for formal communications either. I am here for the jokes... but if people are not with me on these things, I really have to leave.

"This is not the place for me to start conversations that concern the society or the entire world. This is ASTROLOGY"

U hardly ever have an a $ trology thread. It's always about something miscellaneous like pokwang or prisoners or your buddy ands

LMAO. This made my day. 😄

I will be gone forever. As they say, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. No way will I ever want to languish in a place where people who are funny and serious converge together because you will never know what's deemed appropriate, what's allowed and what's irksome.

To Duncan: Thanks for creating this wonderful site. I will not delete yet because I still have to save the funny posts but I will let you know if I'm ready to go.

Ciao, DXP! 😄

Something else you need to consider is that since the creation of that chat room and the frequency in which it has been used by some in the last year, it's created a huge disconnect. Those who visit the site only have no idea what you or the clique are "joking" or bickering about.

You see it as joking/getting a rise, but those of us who choose not to live in the chat/aren't involved behind the scenes won't perceive it as that. ...because nobody knows wtf you're talking about. When there's no reference, people don't know what to think or how to react to your "jokes."

Not saying this out of crankiness or anything, but that's probably why you're seeing the reactions that you do. I saw your threads about Damnata and all I could think was "Hay look, another world war 58934543 in dxpland carried over from chat!"

DXP =
"I'm confused!"
"I'm confused!"
"He's confusing!"
"I'm sleeping with a married man and am confused!"
"OMG DAMNATA BLAH BLAH"
"I hate women!"
"(insert philosophical thread)"
"Favorite sex position."
"I love being controversial by starting a racism topic!"
"I'm so confused."
"I sleep with married men! Feel sorry for me!"

Etc. etc. How is anyone supposed to truly know the context of your topics when they stand out like that? Just sayin'.

Omg a place where people get on camera and mic and actually listen to each other without the keyboard warrior beef of dxp forums..... it must be a clique!!

tbf dude, its kind of painted that way when the members who do chat come back here and start talking about rankings and how its inappropriate for a tier 4 member to address a tier 1 member or whatever. it creates exclusivity = clique

i have no horse in this race and i'm not complaining about such behavior. peeps do what they do. its just disingenuous to act like chat members AREN'T a clique lol maybe its not as tight as it seems but to anyone on the outside it seems like it

The ones who are usually the first to cry this are part of the very same clique haha.

It's amusing all around.

i've been on dxp a long time and there have always been members who make esoteric references that are clearly inside jokes. i'm not saying there's anything wrong with it... but that's what makes it a clique- there are insiders and outsiders. whether or not most of it comes from chat or pm's, no one would know who isn't in chat.

HOWEVER, I was here before people started talking about the chat, and i also noticed a sharp increase in inside jokes once chat became some big deal. its reasonable to assume a lot of that has to do with chat conversations.

.....

i'm not complaining either, but i think the ram chick made sense FOR ONCE in her comment and I'm just saying i see where she's coming from. if you think there aren't dxp cliques get real. if you're just saying they're not based around chat, that's fair enough. donut know, donut really care

look, I get it. chat=/= the clique. i don't think that's the point of what she was saying, but i dont even like the bitch so i'll let her speak for herself. what i thought she was saying, and what i am saying i agree with is that fb can't bring up things that did not occur on this board and expect people who were NOT involved in whatever private conversations originally- to know wtf he's talknig about. that's just common sense. and i'm saying that i agree that there are dxp cliques that like to talk about references that the majority aren't privy to. that's all i'm saying.

You've pretty much reiterated the points I was making so just another +1

@RockyRoad: This particular furball (and most spats on dxp) do not originate nor play out in chat. Believe it or not that chat room is pretty civil for the most part. Besides even if all we did was squabble in chat, If firebunny is ever in there it is a vanishingly rare occurrence, i personally have never seen him in there not even once and I go on fairly regularly during the week...Nata rarely ever joins us there as well.

*sigh*

I frankly don't give a damn, tbh. This wasn't in regard to him per se but as this general concept of those who "can't take jokes" here on the website. The chatroom was just a big example of a disconnect that's happened here on DXP over the last year or so. I also mentioned a lot of shit that goes on behind the scenes, aka PM, outside of DXP, in which the "furball" appears to have some sort of involvement with. I know some of it does happen here on DXP, deep in threads that some of us don't get involved with because it's more of the same silliness amongst the same group of members not all of us catch on to.

Those of you on the "not so srs" bandwagon gotta realize that there's a good portion of us who just come here, reply to some threads, and move along. When dramallama is brought into some random thread, or "jokes" between users are brought up, the aforementioned users have no idea wtf is going on or how to address the context, which seems to be misconstrued in a sense of "taking things too seriously."

Which brings us back to full circle in regard to who's "too serious" on this forum haha.

This is why I'm always saying "go the fuck outside." Really? Looking down on other users because you're more "popular" here? Gtfo of here with that haha. Can you imagine someone's reaction if one of these individuals went out in public and were like "OUT OF MY WAY, PEON. I AM OH SO POPULAR ON DXP.NET. YOU ARE A NOBODY RAWR!!"
