this is a tale of which the elements can be used to explain many situations.

I think the main metaphor adresses the relativity of viewpoints. While everybody in the tale knows the beauty of narcissus, the lake himself, one of the main protagonists doesn't even know of narcissus beauty . And nobody else even considered the possibility of the lake's existenz.

The daily admirations of narcissus had a totally different meaning in the lake's context, one which could only be known from the lake viewpoint.

It shows how a story is always linked to a particular context . Beauty is partial to the viewer.

It can also be interpreted as a tale of how the preoccupations of man (narcissus) are insignificant in the immensity of nature (the lake) and get forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

I also like to see it as a scientific metaphor for the duality paradox (like in einstein-and-co's theory about the dual quality of electromagnetic waves). Narcissus is the particle and the lake is the wave and each other's beauty need the negation of the other to be realized (Narcissus can only see his beauty if he mentally negates the ripples patterns on the lake to see his image and vice versa). And the situation can not be resolved to one single truth.

On a larger scale this can be seen as a metaphor on the inherent duality inside everything (or just the knowledge thereof?) , haha

elaborate please
someone had asked an analysis of the tale of "narcissus and the lake"

www.google.com
no. I don't get what the lake has to 'mentally negate' in order to see his beauty

narcissus.

It's not about the lake and narcissus anymore, I have started talking about the opposing wave/particle viewpoints, it might be too complex for you to understand tho, I won't elaborate further

It doesn't matter, I'm both extrovert and introvert at different times, but it doesn't make a difference because for me other people don't even exist. Or at least, for most of them their consciousness doesn't register at a high level.
I interact with most people as I would with NPCs in a videogame or an automatic cash teller. Trying to game them when possible, just annoying distractions most of the time. Bumps on the road.
I have more respect for animals though, because animals are a consciousness in potential, whereas most people are just stupid and don't fight against it.
