For many, reality is too grim to be borne. So they ignore it or anesthetize themselves. The choice of "drugs" is wide-ranging.

But this is nothing really new. As a species, our capacity for self-deceit seems to be limitless.

I would expect you to understand where I'm coming from, haha.

I just think that the extent that people go to to avoid reality and the truth and always sweep it under the rug of "negativity."

Think it has something to do with the entitlement generation being raised really sheltered?

Yes, most people want to live on "Fantasy Island".....I'm dealing with someone in my life right now that has always been afraid of the truth/reality. The mere mention about the Elephant in the Room and it becomes WW3.

As much as I care for this person, I have to just let it go or else I get sucked into the vortex. Very difficult to keep a positive frame of mind and go on with ones daily agenda with such a sick person beside you.

Do you think our society is stuck in an "ignorance is bliss" mindset?

All too often, I see a LOT of people throw truth and factual information into the "negative" category, while some of the ridiculous, delusional stuff is thrown into the "optimistic" category.

Ignorance is bliss? Reality is bad?

To a degree, yes.

Optimism is taking chances, and believing that a positive outcome is possible.

Not holding on to a delusion hoping it will magically turn into the thing you want it to be.

People who play it overly-safe, I've noticed, tend to complain-- a lot.

They aren't happy, but they are unwilling to risk change-- because of fear, I guess.

Probably.

The other day, I saw a mother THANK her child for doing what he was told.

It wasn't like she asked the kid to help her or hand her something; she was holding his hand and he was dragging his feet being "dead weight".

She told him to stop and start walking, and then thanked him profusely when he did. o.O

I just smh.

I find dealing with the truth/reality is actually easier than pretending it's not there. I can move forward, once I have looked it straight in the eye, so far my truths haven't been as bad as I thought.

I think people in general put to much stock in what others think and that hinders them from facing certain realities about themselves.

Most of my fears would usually stem from foolish pride. A piece of "Humble Pie" is the ultimate comfort food and it's calorie free.

I hate society??_..I hate that wealthy people run the world and they are greedy soulless nobodies and I hate that we the majority are easily lead by them??_??_..I would love to do what the french did to Marie Antoinette. Id like to barge into the Rothschild's mansion, drag them out and put their heads on spikes and then put those spikes in front of the whitehouse.

Then you would be just like them. ignorant animals with nothing to their core but rotting flesh. People always get whats coming, it may not be in your life time but it will come.

Not to worry bout such foolishness and waste your precious time. Live your own life with a pure heart and a pure mind and you will die good and your spirit will rest in peace.

Yes I believe individuals typically ignore the giant elephant in the room, even more so in wealthy nations. Meanwhile individuals in poorer countries, have no choice but to face realities. When you're in a wealthier nation, you have more luxuries that cause you to bury your head in the sand or more opportunities for distraction. While I think anti depressants are sometimes a necessity, these are over prescribed by many physicians in the US anyway. Which ultimately desensitizes individuals to reality, instead of confronting it.

@11th

Marie Antoinette was a mostly a figurehead, but she made for an excellent scapegoat during the stupidity that was the French Revolution.

She was executed, and her child was kept in solitary confinement for two years.

During that time, he was forced to curse his mother-- he had been drugged and trained to do so, for her (fake) trial (she had less than a day to prepare)-- he was tortured, and he died a slow, painful death.

Link: Trial & Death- Marie Antoinette

It was an atrocity-- and history has since exonerated her.

Things aren't always as they seem.

I tried posting the youtube video earlier in the day, but it didn't work its called (bystander effect: no one cares). Its very relevant to the discussion, so if anybody could post it cool. My phone doesn't seem to let me on this site. But it really drives home the point of lack of empathy in society. People watch a man bleed to death for an hour and a half. I think a lot of this stems from antidepressants, they desensitize you to your environment. (Pharmaceutical waste runoff causing shrimp, marine life to commit suicide- Naturalnews.com). If you think about it many individuals cut themselves just to feel something, even if it's pain. Many of these pharmaceuticals, cause individuals to not have any feeling good or bad, almost robotic to a certain degree. So sadly they resort to cutting themselves just to feel alive, and feel something. Not to say that's why they all do it, but a large part do.

I wouldn't trust people like that in an emergency or when shit gets real.

Overall, I don't trust overly "optimistic" people, tbh. Looking to the bright side is one thing, but some people just take it too far and stick their heads in the sand. When shit needs to get done or one needs to put on their big boy/girl pants/panties, they tend to struggle.

Ok well I still would like big greedy corporations like monsanto, PB, shell, rothschilds etc to be called out put on trial and banished from society??_??_

That I can understand. 🙂

Keep in mind that the government(s) is in bed with them-- that is one of the reasons why they are so powerful.

And our gov't. is utterly bloated.

Check out what this guy did, while being one of THE HIGHEST PAID EMPLOYEE at the EPA.

... a judge sentenced a former high ranking EPA official to 32 months in prison after he missed 2?_ years of work by claiming to work for the CIA.

John Beale, 65, had admitted getting paid for work he did not perform, $ 500,000 in bonuses he did not deserve, and first class travel to California unrelated to his EPA duties.

The CIA said Beale never worked for the agency.

When he did work, prosecutors said, he claimed to need a special parking space on grounds he had contracted malaria, a false claim that cost the government $ 8,000 over three years."

Assistant U.S. Attorney John Smith said Beale had abused his office in "notorious, historic fashion."

Asked by Judge Ellen Huvelle why he did it, Beale, 65, at one time the highest paid employee at EPA, offered this explanation:

"In hindsight, I think, how stupid could a person be? Shame has become my constant companion this past year."

A report by the EPA Inspector General... blamed lax management at the agency for the fraud.

"The case this morning highlights a massive problem with the EPA, and figuring out why this corruption occurred with apparently no one the wiser needs to remain a priority of our Committee," said Vitter--

The problem, however, is with *most* gov't agencies-- and compartmentalization allows for the dirty work, with ordinary citizen still unaware.

Go to law school, if you're that passionate about it. 😄

There have always been sheep and there have always been free thinkers. The problem is that they always seem to be outnumbered by the sheep.

+1

The sheer volume of sheep and how it's increasing exponentially is quite disturbing.

It drives me absolutely nuts when you notice something wrong and point out that it needs to be changed, only to be met with "OOOOH WELLL. THAT'S JUST HOW THINGS AAARE, LOL!!!" *shrugs*

It's like omg this is why there are a growing number of problems everywhere. Buncha passive sheeple.

But, in relation to above, it's been decades of social conditioning to be a bunch of passive weenies and just let shit happen, all while you're glued to entertainment TV drinking your energy drinks.

In turn, this passivity has seeped into all areas of life, thus the observation of people really do submerge themselves in "ignorance is bliss" waaay too much.
