Hey man what's up? What was your old username again?

I converted to Islam about a year ago, people tend to make a big deal about it which I believe mainly due to media and stereotyping.

Why? Because I can and got interested. Wasn't like i was a devout Catholic anyway.

Jesus (pbuh). You don't "revert". You weren't born Muslim and then led astray. People aren't born with religion, they're taught it.

Wrong.

OK then, explain exactly how a newborn is Muslim. Do they face east to pray? Do they fast for Ramadan? Do they say the shahada?

Everyone and everything is born Muslim in Islam.

What are the five pillars?

And explain how a baby fulfills them.

Islam is very simple, and it is more forgiving and flexible than people think. Resorting to trick questions catch somebody out is pointless, anyone can pay that game.

These aren't trick questions. They're simple questions that require the one being asked to apply simple logic.

Must be a christian.

Not quite in the sense that you think. Sure, I'd much rather follow Jesus than Muhammad, but I don't really believe in a whole lot of what traditional Christians believe.

But this isn't about me, it's about you wanting to convert and not really knowing why.

That's fair.

Have you googled?

How does one fast during Ramadan when they NEED to eat due to illness? Answer, you can eat, if you have intention and good will on the mind.

How does one pray when it is physically impossible? You can in mind with intention and good will.

Muslims don't follow Muhammad.. they follow Allah..

Muslims follow Muhammad, end of. You have to accept that Allah speaks through Muhammad, that every command was relayed through him. That's why you have proscribed prayers, halal requirements, essentially Jewish Law (although somewhat corrupted), specific required recitations, ablution, etc. Allah didn't tell anyone but Muhammad to do these things. So you follow Muhammad.

I didn't need to Google, studied Islam on my own for about about 10 years. From Islamic sources.

And yes, I'm aware of the things you mention. That doesn't absolve one of yhe requirements, only that you do it when you can.

The father or a family elder will first whisper the call to prayer (adhan) in the baby's ear, shortly after it's birth.

This is one of the first thing, that Muslim will do.

Ergo, not born Muslim. :-)

My thoughts are that religions aren't that different at their core

It all points back to the same god - just different interpretations and approaches due to culture and language

If you relate to Islam, great ??

That's a logical and intelligent theory, thought a lot about that one myself 🙂

It's why I cannot be an atheist

Too much of the same story told different ways for me to discount it

Don't bother. Religion & logic have never gotten along. He's lost the plot, just step away slowly and let him live out the rest of his life in blissful ignorance.
