What's the "peak year" of the 1980s based on pop culture?

in the 1980s, every year is a peak year.
Also every year is different from the previous.
Important years I would say : 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988
Why those years?

I thought it's 1987 because it's the only year twice featured in a movie, e.g. "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" and "13 Going On 30."

I also figured this was the year when "Dirty Dancing" was released.

I was thinking in terms of music
82 is the start of british new wave more or less, kickstarts the 80s out of the 70s for good
83 the modern MJ era
84 HIP HOP explosion
85 I don't remember but lots of good things (ghostbusters movie for example)
87 a turning point in music, songs released in 87/88/89 were a lot more sophisticated. Also the start of new musical trends like new jack, etc...

Madonna is one of the greatest all around artists of pop music in the 20th century. She's not at her best right now, but between 19803 and 2000, almost each song she released was great.
We'll have to disagree.
I look at bands like The Clash and U2, although U2 eventually "went commercial".

what does this have to do with Madonna?

To me, Madonna represented the rise of prepackaged, commercialized music.
Was she successful? No doubt. But that's mainly due to marketing, rather than creative content IMHO.
Late 80s saw a lot of really bad music that finally got shook up by the grunge movement.
