Which one?

Posted by hydorahWhy those years?
in the 1980s, every year is a peak year.
Also every year is different from the previous.
Important years I would say : 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988

I thought it's 1987 because it's the only year twice featured in a movie, e.g. "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" and "13 Going On 30."
I also figured this was the year when "Dirty Dancing" was released.click to expand

Posted by CancerOnTheCuspYou don't like Madonna?
Pop culture wise, probably 1983-1985.
Then along came Madonna....

Posted by hydorahWe'll have to disagree.
Madonna is one of the greatest all around artists of pop music in the 20th century. She's not at her best right now, but between 19803 and 2000, almost each song she released was great.

Posted by CancerOnTheCuspwhat does this have to do with Madonna?Posted by hydorahWe'll have to disagree.

I look at bands like The Clash and U2, although U2 eventually "went commercial".click to expand

Was she successful? No doubt. But that's mainly due to marketing, rather than creative content IMHO.
Late 80s saw a lot of really bad music that finally got shook up by the grunge movement.click to expand

Posted by MontgomeryThat's Dirty Dancing (1987) so are you saying that 1987 is part of the peak years of the 1980s? 🙂
1984-86
But still...

Nope.
Emo came in the late 90s.
Cheap imitations of the goth rockers where the dudes were trying the beta male method to get laid.
