in the 1980s, every year is a peak year.
Also every year is different from the previous.
Important years I would say : 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988
Oh man!! I MISS the 80's.

Why those years?
I thought it's 1987 because it's the only year twice featured in a movie, e.g. "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" and "13 Going On 30."
I also figured this was the year when "Dirty Dancing" was released.
Pop culture wise, probably 1983-1985.
Then along came Madonna....

I was thinking in terms of music
82 is the start of british new wave more or less, kickstarts the 80s out of the 70s for good
83 the modern MJ era
84 HIP HOP explosion
85 I don't remember but lots of good things (ghostbusters movie for example)
87 a turning point in music, songs released in 87/88/89 were a lot more sophisticated. Also the start of new musical trends like new jack, etc...
I thought Ghostbusters was released in 1984?

he's dumb
Madonna is one of the greatest all around artists of pop music in the 20th century. She's not at her best right now, but between 1983 and 2000, almost each song she released was great.

We'll have to disagree.
I look at bands like The Clash and U2, although U2 eventually "went commercial".

what does this have to do with Madonna?
Pac-Man 1980
Donkey Kong 1981
Super Mario Bros 1985
Imo these games would forever change humanity. For the good and bad.

To me, Madonna represented the rise of prepackaged, commercialized music.
Was she successful? No doubt. But that's mainly due to marketing, rather than creative content IMHO.
Late 80s saw a lot of really bad music that finally got shook up by the grunge movement.
Commercial music has been existing since forever bro, in fact everything that pertains to pop culture is "prepackaged, commercialized music", you might not see it , but that's what it is. There is nothing sacred in pop culture, everything is hype.

Do you like the grunge movement?
1984-86
But still...

Parts of it. Nirvana suffered a crib death when Kurt Cobain died.
Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains made some pretty good music.

That's Dirty Dancing (1987) so are you saying that 1987 is part of the peak years of the 1980s? 🙂

More that it was just worth mentioning... that movie, the soundtrack, cutting
your jeans off at the knees-- it was huge.
Are you doing a report, firebunny? 😕
Whenever everyone took a step back and realized how fucking shallow and ignorant they actually were.
Same shit happened in the 2000s.
Can't wait to see what 202x has to offer in the pop culture department.

lol that wouldn't surprise me
probably an emo kid
Nope.
Emo came in the late 90s.
Cheap imitations of the goth rockers where the dudes were trying the beta male method to get laid.
grunge is the precursor of emo
that's when kids started being nombrilists "me me me me...oh woe is me"
I was going to link to a prince video, then i remembered Prince is a fucking douchebag who doesn't allow his songs on youtube (or it's the music company, I don't know)
1984. If you want a low year then I think 1987 was the low year. For the 90's the peak was 1992 I think, for the low it was 1995 strangely. for the 2000's the peak was if I recall well 2005, the low was 2008. As for the 2010's so far I'd have to say the best peak was last year but the recent low had to have been 2011.

Emo music fucking sucks. Hate it and its entire existence. Blame it's scourge for coexisting with nu metal and metalcore bullshit. I don't really like "core" stuff.
