What did you guys think of this movie?
I'm not a hip hop fan, but I do like Ice Cube and the other movies that he's played in and produced, so I decided to watch the movie with my son.
Personally, I thought it was a great movie and Ice Cube's son looks so much like him that it was kinda eerie..lol, but overall I thought the movie was done in very good taste. As usual, just shows how the media only reports the negative side of that lifestyle, but we all know there's two sides to every story. Your side, their side and the right side, so I'm glad that Ice Cube was able to put out his version of what their lives were really like and how the threat of living in and around violence every day affected their existence...especially the police, both black and white, which is not a surprise. Good thing is through it all of that, it appear that most of their lives turned out pretty decently.

LOVED IT!!!!! I'm from So Cal though and remember that rap movement vividly as well as all of the controversy surrounding the music, but the shit was bangin...still is. Society became HUGE haters and I feel like they were brave to push forward in something that was innovative at the time, not giving in to societal pressure to conform in order to make money.

They didn't believe in kissing ass.

My Gemini uncle looks and acts just like Ice Cube. Heck, if he was an actor he couldve played the part.
Darn Geminis, people love them and they love people. Just watching that clip of someone honking at Ice Cube and him acknowledging that person. I grew up watching everyone literally gravitate to my uncle...amazing to see in a way.

Anyway, I have yet to see the movie. My dad was a huge Ice Cube fan and I think he liked Nwa too. I was more of a Tribe Called Quest and De la soul person, although I did love NWA Express Yourself. Their form of hip hop I didnt gravitate too because it I liked nostalgic type melodies. I knew they were big, but never this big. That movie is darn near at the 200million mark.

Right...different culture than rap. A sub culture of rap and NWA took that hip hop vibe, wrapped it in gasoline, and set the truth of hood life on FIRE.
