Anyone else seen this gloomy, atmospheric sci-fi mess? I really enjoyed it, it has some truly creepy imagery that will probably haunt me in my sleep tonight. I was fortunate enough not to have known what "type" of film this was before I saw it, which only added to the WTF-factor. So if you haven't seen it, I recommend you do not investigate it further but just see it. Jonathan Glazer has previousely made Birth (2004) with Nicole Kidman, another favourite of mine.
Yeah I find Scarlett's 'clueless pigeon' -look annoying as hell, but this movie made me forget all about it... cuz in a way she IS playing a clueless "bird" of some sort 😉
You're right, hidden cameras were installed in the van, the men she picked up were randoms, and the conversations were improvised. They were approached afterwards about participating in the film.
I personally don't think there's some deep message. It's just an experience. I'd sum it up here but I don't want to ruin it for others. It's based on a book though most of the book's material has been discarded, so even going back to the source material, whatever its "messege" is (I haven't read it myself), won't have much to do with what actually ended up on the screen.
