As you all know (or at least some of you lol), the first (extremely successful) song that Rihanna released from her new album, is entitled "Umbrella".. which she co-wrote with Jay-Z (whom is also featured in the song). However, this song was not initially intended to be released by Rihanna herself; it was originally offered to Mary J. Blige, whom initially turned it down.
Although Rihanna ended up releasing "Umbrella" after several, failed attempts to offer the song to other artists -- numerous artists ended up covering the song only after her release. For example, there is a more ballad-like, soft-pop arrangement by Mandy Moore; Chris Brown's "Cinderella" was a little bit like a sequel to Rihanna's song.. he changed some of the lyrics and left some of Rihanna's parts still in the song; and many, other, unmentioned versions.
But the reason as to why I'm writing this is because I've been completely OBSESSED with this song for the past, I don't know how long. I guess one reason as to why I'm not too sick of this song yet is because I've been listening to so many different versions of it.. particularly, Marie Digby's.
To introduce this upcoming singer to whomever's reading (haha), I'm sure anyone would be surprised as to learn how she entered the music industry. Like I said.. although many artists have covered Rihanna's song, Marie Digby (pronounced MAR-EE-AYE.. yeah, I thought it was strange too.. lol), however, did not cover it as an artist. She posted her acoustic version of "Umbrella" on YouTube, and surprisingly, got a lot of attention from the YouTube community for her uploaded video. She was just a sweet, talented, high school student (only aged 16 -- young, I know lol), but because of her posted video performance, she is now a sweet, talented, high school student.. WITH a freakin' record label!! Can you imagine that!? lol..
I just wanted to post this on here because I HAD to let my current obsession out SOMEHOW (well, I'm now typing my obsession because I'm tried of talking about it everywhere I go.. hehe). But anywhoo.. I think that Marie Digby is actually very lucky to get her big-break through YouTube (she probably wouldn't have been able to enter the music industry otherwise). And even though I don't think that she is the best singer, I do think that she deserves this because of her musical uniqueness and her love for music. And she has such a beautiful face, too! I actually think she's of mixed decent; I'm not completely sure.. but I do know that she is definitely Japanese. But yeah, her beauty probably helped her out with her popularity (she probably got me too! ;D lol).. but I also feel that she is also beautiful in so, many, other ways. I don't know her sign, if anyone's wondering haha.. but I do think she's a sweetheart.
But alright, enough with my rants. This is all I have to say about all of this crap (lol), and sorry about the other topic I created ("Umbrella).. I messed up! I didn't finish the title when I pressed 'Enter' by accident, only before pressing it again in the middle of typing another post.. AHHHH!! It was just all over the place; you guys are lucky I made a new one (like anyone cares lol, but you know what I mean) because the other one was just plain horrible. But thanks for bearing with me anyway, even though it was super long and pointless.. haha. But I post mainly for me, so as long as I get my rant off my chest, I'm content 😄. So now I'll end this post with a few, YouTube links that relate to my topic.
Come Here Boy, Breathe In, Let Go, It's Good To Be In Love, Hide and Seek
Haven't heard much of her music yet, but gosh... i just love her voice. it's very unique and her lyrics are awesome. her music is all her own, very soulful, and comes fr
Has anyone listen to John Mayer's new CD Continum or something like that. I like the song "Waiting for the World To Change" I am going to go buy it but like to know has anyone heard it yet.
