Marital bliss?

I just read this article that made the following statements:

1.married couples are a lot happier than their single counterparts.
2.married men live longer and are more happier than married women.

I wonder why that is? I've never been married...Hmm maybe I'm missing out on something. But why do you think married men have a better deal than married
women? That seems kinda unfair...what are your thoughts on this folks? Both
married and single point of view welcome.

1- married couples are a lot happier than their single counterparts. ----- Depends as usual on the situation..they are not specific enough in their statement. If the couple is married but not happy together, I do not believe that they then are happier than their single counterparts.....reason being, I WAS in that situation. I am much happier now than I was while in that marriage. One can be married (whatever that means) and while in that marriage one can feel the most loneliest. I no longer feel lonely. Honestly, the marriage has gotta be great for both partners for it to work....

2- married men live longer and are more happier than married woman. ---- who comes up with these questions? My take on this is...sure, anything is possible but what are they really saying? Again, depends...if the man is married but not in a good relationship and is having his needs met on the side, you bet by golly....he will live longer and be happy - men do NOT like living alone -they cannot last too long on their own. They are also very physical beings and their needs are very important to them. Woman are emotional beings...we need to be emotionally satisfied and if we are not, we usually will move on. I also believe that more women are content with living alone - they are not wanting to "settle".

So, different needs - we all have them, we need for them to be fulfilled and we will find a way for that to happen.

But why do you think married men have a better deal than married women? Again, depends how one looks at this statement. I know many married men who are not happily married but they stay...their wives are too scared to leave because it is all they have known, not sure they can make it on thier own - the men do not want to break up the marriage because of financial reasons. They find a way to make it work...side dishes. I truly believe that deep inside they are not truly happy...they are existing, finding a way to meet their needs day by day. They are not in a relationship where there is growth, honesty, trust....eventually this type of behaviour eats at the soul and the person looks back upon their life as, "what have I done?" I have seen this a lot, I've heard it a lot. As they say, with age comes wisdom.

Thank you for you POV on this one Freebird.They carried out this survey where people answered questions about happiness and other stuff.The results may seem surprising but
in general married people answered they were more or less happy whereas single poeple answered that they were less content.. maybe b/c they felt they were missing something, afterall we're programmed by society to think that way.

But the amazing thing is longevity...they found that getting married increases your life span...maybe it's due to the fact you have more people around you if you're married or ever been married... Living only for yourself gets boring after a while. of course that's only my opinion.
