Usually a good man is not interested in bringing someone home to mom and dad who has had the whole football team. Yes but the way the society views them is not their problem, it's the society's problem. It's the society that has a warped view on what a woman is and should be like! And you are right about bad father figures, but you do realize that we are all a product of our upbringing/enviroment so who's to say what's normal? What is a normal childhood? Is it normal to have parents that never argue and are happy because they bottle up their frustrations... or maybe they are just very compatible, doesen't matter, my question is what does it do to a kid who's a product of this "happy marriage" and eventually realizes that his own marriage is a failure in comparison, when in fact it's not! And so on. You do realize that "happines" in itself will create complexes that can have dire consequences too? So no values or principles are "normal", apart from those that are forced onto us by the society and times we live in. It's a question of norms, not what's right or wrong.

The Cancer I referred to earlier, with the Madonna-Whore complex ... interestingly I DID try the open relationship thing with him. I was not getting sex anyway and we were in a long-distance relationship only seeing each other on occasion ... and when we DID see each other, no sex. This was not okay with me after a while so I suggested we try seeing other people while maintaining our relationship. We were gonna be totally honest with each other and all that. Well he got another chick on the side IMMEDIATELY (which bothered me, heh) and when I went to visit him I found condom wrappers in his car, so I knew he was having sex with HER and not me ... I guess I could have comforted myself by reminding myself that in his fucked-up brain she was the Whore and I was the Madonna. But, in reality I am neither Madonna nor whore, just a regular Scorpio chick who needs her lovin'. And I was consuuuuumed with jealousy, and ended up just breaking up.
So even though I initiated the open relationship, it turned out I couldn't handle it.
Lesson learned.

The definition of a slut was very different for me growing up..
The fact that I'm in college, dating a (woman) none the less, volunteering/counseling, and working..makes me a "slut" in their eyes.
They think, I could not have achieved what I have achieved without sucking/fucking some guy off or I should be sucking/fucking a guy off and not been seen, heard, or pursuing a career or having a loving relationship.

Where are you getting your information? Seriously, I really do want to know. Not to be a bitch or derail this thread into a huge HIV awareness campaign, (because it is so mich more fun watching people tear each other a new asshole or discussing revolving-door vaginas) ... but ... having worked with an HIV clinic and having traveled to Africa to participate in HIV education programs and medical clinics, my JOB was to educate people about the realities of HIV and AIDS. To say that most people aren't diagnosed early is just plain wrong, I was in western Kenya where people were living in mud huts, for fuck's sake, and people there were getting their diagnosis within a year of being infected.
The blanket statements you are making may be true of CERTAIN populations but not all, and nobody who was well informed would ever make any sort of sweeping generalizations like "10 years not more," because each case varies from individual circumstances to what society they are living in and what resources are available to them. To say you have to be loaded with money to get treatment is also, again, just plain wrong. I can direct you to several non-profit progams that help indigent people to pay for HIV treatment.
Also, you don't need two pairs of gloves, mask and protective goggles to protect you from HIV when taking dental x-rays. One pair of surgical gloves is what is used by doctors (real doctors) and nurses who spend their careers working with HIV patients.
And that is all I'm gonna preach about HIV, I don't want to hijack this thread but as someone who *is* rather well informed about HIV and AIDS I could not sit back and watch this misinformation being spread.
