Well... you would know better than I. But like I was saying before - it turns to indifference when we aren't around that person anymore. So yes, probably having to see you is inflaming something within him. Do your best to stay away. If you are friends with people that know him, don't talk about him to them, if you must be involved with them at all ( I get that you're new in town, but try to make some friends that aren't involved with him in any facet).

@dimeguy - you're going to leave you figuring yourself out up to your future wife—? I'm lost, clearly...

Now you that was profound. You are "lost".
What makes YOU think your unique puzzle is for you to figure out or for you to be
So naive to think you could actually figure something so complex by yourself ....

As long as you have that mentality your "light" will only shine so bright and will never reach its full potential.

Don't put so much focus on independence when you need to master interdependence.

"Oh for crying out loud" is right, Elusive. If he's gonna have a dramatic reaction everytime he runs into me, then maybe it's time for him to stop sitting on his butt & partying and join the Coast Guard now so that he'll be placed somewhere else where he won't have to run into me anymore. I can't just turn around and move 1,200 miles back home just to prevent his wittle feewings from being offended every time he has to lay eyes on me somewhere. In fact, he's supposed to be living 4 hours away from here until December, yet he's been here at home for the last two weeks. I don't know what's going on and it's none of my concern, but I'm just saying he should either suck it up or join the Service already if my presence in his city annoys him so much.

@dimestore - yes you are right. I'm highly independent minded. But you made it sound like it was soley future wifey's responsibility to figure you out. You wash your hands of it.
Also, don't underestimate that knowing yourself better is integral into finding someone willing to want to figure other parts of you out/help you.

@MP - on, and on, and on, and on, and on. You claim you don't care. You clearly do in some capacity. You can't let it go. His reactions are all your interpretation. Perhaps he's having the time of his life right now, and that's inclusive of him hating you. Him 'hurrying up' and joining the service.... is for your benefit. You want him out, so you don't have to deal with his "wittle feewings" affecting you. He's doing exactly what he wants to do right now. He should hurry up and get out, because you can't pick up and move? That's funny.

much of your twenties on him...

Yes, Mother Theresa will be pleased that you did most of the work. She's dead, she can't be working that hard 😛
