What would you do in a situation like this?

This happened time ago, but I'm resolving some things and I need to know what a person can do in a situation like this. What would you do guys?

Cancer girl 28 years old met a 26 year-old pisces man. They liked each other. He had finished a 4year bad relationship with many ups and downs, toxic, sporadic... We (I'm the cancer) liked each other and he asked me since the very beginning: what's your objective with me? What are you looking for. I was not clear at the beginning but then he discovered I wanted a relationship. He told me: "I do want to be with you, but I'm still supporting this girl, she has a problem, I feel tied down, it''s complicated. I still have feelings for her, but I do want to be with you. Give me some time. That's all I ask for."

What can you do in a situation like this? What should a person do? Sorry, but despite my age i have no much experience, and maybe it doesn't make much sense, but I'm trying to understand what happened in my story and what a pisces meant with it.

Your his back up option if things don't work out with his ex. So if your cool with that then carry on.

Thank you both for your comments girls! Unfortunately, I did exactly the opposite of what I should have done, and although this story didn't last too much, it hurt me much. But well, the only thing I can do now is learn from my actions. Little mistakes made a big, big error 😢

I know not all pisceans are like this only Pisces guy I have met, and I hope to find a worth one in the future because they really match with cancer. It's a shame this didn't work 😢
