Brown eyes are a dominant trait, meaning a child can inherit brown eyes if one parent carries the gene. Even if a parent has blue or green eyes, they can pass on the recessive gene. The child's eye color depends on the genetic combination from both parents and their ancestors.
Blue/green is a recessive gene. My dad has blue eyes. My mom has brown. All my siblings have brown. I have hazel eyes.
A family of all brown eyes can carry recessive blue eye genes and with the right gene lotto combo BAM baby blues.
Just get the paternity test

I mean.. if OP is asking for herself and if there is even a slight chance that there are two potential fathers, she needs to have the paternity test regardless.
Right? Eye colour is the least of her (or this child's) worries.

I feel like she wouldn’t even be asking this if there wasn’t a chance.
It’s not for me! It’s for a friend of mine, I know him very well (the potential dad) but none of us know her very well. It was a month into dating she was pregnant, which is fine - no judgement on my end. she’s been a great mother and a great gf but we are all a bit suspicious of the dark brown eyes with their eyes and their parents being so so so light....... hopeful it is normal!!!

A month into dating sounds suspicious. For peace of mind I would of gotten a paternity test irrespective.
Hope it works out for all

The circumstances make it a little suspicious. Can you find some photos on google close to what the eye colors are and post them?

Hmph.
And what advice did you give said father? Cause if he was that concerned I'm curious as to why we are going in this round about way to get some advice (e.g. he ask you, you ask a bunch of strangers on an astrology website). Tell him to take a swab of the kid's cheek and get a test done already.
It would serve him better to put more guess work into what he should make for dinner when it's easier to do the test.
However....a woman that needed to find out the paternity of her child would find it more challenging to get the father's DNA without raising an eyebrow no? Hence the need for the thread/question. Lawd.....

He should do the test now while the kid is young. There is no point in waiting, if there are suspicious circumstances. He can even do it at home, while he has the baby with a quick mouth swab and mail send off.

Did the father (your friend ) expressed his concerns to you? *We are suspicious*
Who is 'we'?

That is the most curious pic on the box. Is it just me or does the baby look like he/she/they are chillin' like "yeah, I'm good either way".

Both of my bio parents had dark brown eyes and mine are green.

Sounds very judgmental to me!
Butt out of your friends relationship unless invited. Sheesh
I have brown eyes but my mother and father both have green eyes.
Their parents and others all have either green or blue eyes.
We have a lot of green eyes in my family. My eyes are not hazel, they're quite brown.
My sister has green eyes.
My brother, who has the same mother as me but a different father, has blue eyes. His father had blue eyes.
I'm not sure who has brown eyes in my family aside from me.
It does happen though. Genes and pigmentation are more complex than the dominant and recessive narrative.
I could just be the milkman's though...
It happens to the best families..... the future king of the UK, baby George, has brown eyes. His father has blue eyes, and his mother green... 😄
It's possible. This is a stupid question that can be explained by basic biology.
Brown eyes is not always the dom gene.
My family is a mix of brown eyes and blue/green eyes. Both my parents have blue eyes. I have green. One sister has blue. 3 other sisters have brown. Both My parents have Hispanic backgrounds which usually has dom brown eyes, yet blue/green eyes is the dom gene. 2 out of 4 of my grandparents had blue eyes. The other 2 had brown.
My sisters kids are blond hair blue eyes yet Both her and her husband had dark hair and brown eyes.
You can't judge paternity by the color of the kids eyes or hair. Recessive genes pop up....even in twins.
And just because someone got pregnant a month in does not mean the kid is someone elses...it only takes one time to get pregnant. My sister got pregnant within a month of being with her now husband. People are so quick to judge.... altho I know there are women out there that sleep around....Ive watched Maury 😂

No.
Brown eyes are a dominant gene. Folks with dominant genes can also carry and pass on recessive genes, however the same is not true for folks that have recessive genes (lighter colour eyes). They can not carry or pass on a dominant gene. One of the parents would need to have brown eyes to pass it on. Grandparents don't count. The dominant gene was lost with the parents.
You can always see if Maury is still available for a DNA test.
