Calling people darling, sweetheart, love, etc.
It's probably just his personality. Does he earn tips? He might be doing it for that too.
I can think of 3 reasonable explanations.
1. He works for tips and lays it on thick for $ $ $ $
2. That is his natural personality and that's just how he talks
3. He's got the hots for you
It wouldn't be the tips. I don't know that they get that much and splitting it between so many people. Wouldn't be an incentive.
Maybe it's just his personality? I've been there when it's been busy and he will use it only for me.
But I've been there when there was an older woman there, and he said to her, I'll be right with you darling. But did not call her that again when he gave her the coffee.
I'm kinda hoping he has the hits for me. Lol 🙂

In reference to a barista that I see almost everyday. He gives me extra shots in my coffee, the occasional free drink, calls me darling, sweetheart, and just added in love. (He's not British)The darling and sweetheart, I took as commonplace fillers, like honey or dear.
But the love, which started last week, I was like hmmm?? Lol
Yes, he knows my name, and does use it.
Is this part of the barista customer service thing? Like be nice to everyone because you're being paid? Or does it mean your barista may like you?
Personally... I wouldn't take anything serious from a barista...outside of work....that's another story....
