It can def. work IF 1:

*Both people have already established a good foundation/bond (that bond will keep them together when times get tough)

*Both people don't have trust issues or major insecurities. (If it's hard for ya to trust someone when they live 5 minutes from ya, the person you're dating is screwed if they live any further than that)

*Both people have acknowledged AND accepted the extra challenges that come with long distance BEFORE they commit (I hate when people get in LDR & then wake up 1 day realizing they "can't handle" the distance. It's like duh! That's why it's called a ldr)

*Both people plan on or atleast agree to move closer to another (lds should be temporary, not permament...at 1st the distance may not be a big deal but if 5 years later you're still in 2 different states, I doubt it'll last much longer)

I think LDR's work best/the longest when 1 or both people in it have had experience with long distance. First timers who actually end up together forever is rare
