No don't listen to your mom follow the rest of these women in the feminist movement. Start off as FWB and work your way up in 20 years to long term commitment. If things aren't progressing stick it out you really have no where to go anyway. It's not like you are married. You just move to the room across the hall.
Make sure whoever you choose has 3 or 4 kids already so you can buy his kids shoes, socks and plan birthday parties. Nobody can say you're wrong, because you don't plan on being a wife anyway.
