Notice the difference in facial expressions? There are two "negative" expressions and two "positive" expressions for both made and non-made-up configurations, reflecting the mood of the woman.
On the far left, the woman appears anxious, apprehensive. On the far right, she appears overconfident. The two in the center, on the left beautiful and natural, on the right, made up revealing less apprehension.
The problem with make-up is that it cannot hide the person's inner-being from those who can see through the icing on the cake.
