If you could get your virginity back.....

There is an operation becoming very popular among Muslim females to 'regain' their virginity, a type of surgery called a hymenoplasty.

Religious beliefs aside, would any of you consider becoming a virgin again, whether by surgery, or some reversal of events in time? Does it hold any significance to the ladies of dxp?

er. no. no significance whatsoever. why should there be? why would we want to mutilate ourselves for no apparent reason?

I think it should just grow back after a certain amount of time, like a lizards tail would.

That would seperate the ladies from the sluts.

A woman divorces, dates, tells the men she's waiting for Mr. Right .. her hymen grown back would tell if she's honest or not, wouldn't it?

Say after a year? That's reasonable time.

As far as chasity goes ... having hymen surgically put back seems like a walk in the park in comparison.

i don't understand having this type of surgery on religious grounds. surely, irrespective of whether the woman's husband is duped into believing her to be a virgin, or the woman deludes herself that she is a virgin once more - allah knows better! he is the only judge surely.

i just want to shake these women.

even more unbelievable is the whole concept of female circumcision which is like this procedure but more complicated and is usually performed without anaesthetic by the older WOMEN of the family when girls are around age 14.

now THAT is barbarism for the sake of some very outmoded ways of thinking.

Also, many men hate that they were circumsized, and had no say in it. It's another unnecessary mutilation. If that's what they want later, let them decide for themselves, as an adult. Some men have sued their doctors or have even had surgery to replace it. Not easy though. Religion doesn't cut it either, exuse pun..lol (i really think people should leave each other's bodies alone and stop chopping things off, for the sake of their own insecurities, lack of knowledge or cultural bias.)

i've heard of the leg lengthening too, only problem is the body is no longer in perfect-normal proportion as once was (eg. arm to leg ratio); you can tell something is off..

lol .. the civilized sure does get outraged easily.



If a woman feels like she can't be loved due to not having her hymen in place ... then I see no argument in it. It's her body afterall.

No different than a person wanting a boob-job, or a face-lift.

If it makes her feel better, valuable, or worthy of a man by having this surgery ... then what's the beef about it? Doesn't she have a right to be an individual according to her own life-decisions?

Question: Do women who have sex-change operations get a penis surgically attached? If a woman you knew wanting to become a man, would this same outrage be taking place?

Children .. that's different altogether ... but, this hymen attaching subject is with adults, and no matter their motive or influence .. it's their choice.

No, this surgery wouldn't be signifant to me, especially a woman my age. In fact, at this turn in my life, I find it to be the opposite in valueable, actually. When men hit on me, which is rare, since I'm usually with my husband when out and about, but, it does happen from time to time ...... and it's usually younger men who are attracted to a woman of experience who still looks hot at nearly 50.


Once a woman hits a certain age, then she becomes sought after for her sexual expertise .... so, this kind of surgery would put her at a great disadvantage if she were out sniffing around.

They should own up to their non-virginity and just deal. At that point their minds should be free of societal restraints anyway if they went ahead and did the deed. You dont see the men lying about being a virgin? They should stand up for themselves and if that means losing family...

what is the point in paying for surgery to replace your hymen only to have it broken the very next time you have sex? it's not the same as a boob job at all!!! it's not even remotely a 'cosmetic' procedure imo.

female circumcision is common in somalia. david bowie's wife iman was circumcised but was later 'reconstructed' as far as possible before her marriage. she is very vocal against female circumcision but that would probably be because she went to the US when she became a model and never returned to somalia. had she stayed there, i wonder whether it would have become such an issue for her.

the theory behind FC is that a woman should not feel pleasure from the act of sex because this will make her promiscuous. the man on the other hand, has heightened pleasure because his wife will have been stitched to leave a hole just large enough for penetration.

without anaesthetic, these girls have their labia cut away with scissors and their clitorises removed and then they are stitched and have their legs bound together for a healing period of two weeks. the procedure is performed by women.

what kind of societal pressure would let you do something like that to your own daughter? i can't imagine being that brainwashed personally and i have a hard time understanding their arguments for this practice.

I'd honestly only elect for the surgery if I lost it due to extreme circustances, where having sex wasnt my choice and I personally held my virginity in high regard....but even then it would make me feel like a phony.

it's very unusual for boys to be circumcised at all in the UK. it's common practice everywhere else of course.

it's healthier for a man to be circumcised, definately.

The whole point of my post is often times losing of the virginity is a CHOICE and this surgery could porbably only considered if the act wasnt a choice (i.e rape).

Speaking from a psychological standpoint ... it's better for these girls to have a circumcision than not. Without it, they would be greatly effected emotionally and psychologically because they would become outcasts in their society, and shunned.

Well I'm a pregnant virgin so don't know if I can join this discussion.

It's so silly. Losing your virginity is an experience that extends far beyond just losing your hyman.

Silly men.

It's certainly not for me... And i'm disgusted by the whole female circumcision issue, and to think those women do it to the young ones when they would know how it felt...You'd think they would want to save the young ones from having to go through such torture. Nothing short of brutal mutilation, the thought just sickens me... I'm so glad I was born in Australia and free from any radical cultures & traditions.

I'm not a virgin but my hymen was never broken. Mine might still be in tact.

They don't know how it felt, oddball .. or at least, not consciously.


Oppression causes numbness to the senses .. it is a brainwashing of sorts that triggers to the individual that this is their station in life, and in so doing .. they stop feeling personally and empathetically on the conscious level.

Examples:

During slavery, blacks thought they were inferiour to white people.

Prisoners become institutionalized and cannot function outside of confinement.

Battered-wives stay with their spouses, protect and LOVE thier man.


In the few above examples ... all of these people can't recognize when they suffer or when they see others suffer within this same condition as being any kind of unwarranted infliction. In fact, they don't see it as an infliction at all, meaning .. they have no concept of enduring something that is unacceptable, as we would deem it to be tormenting .. because they have no awareness, from being oppressed, that anything exists outside of this .. like a child being raised in a religious cult.

The mind can no longer differentiate what is suffering and what is normal.
