Tenderness, reciprocal love, attention, understanding, non-abrasive challenge. Uninhibited, hot and frequent sex.
Romance, declarations of love, passion, wild sex.
Oh and go out and have fun sometimes ๐
Wow, you're so intense... no wonder pisces will be best for you since we're also romantic, loyal, understanding and capable of great sexual activities...but I think you scorpios are really picky about us, sometimes feel like an idiot infront of a scorpio guy๐
"sometimes feel like an idiot infront of a scorpio guy"
It's because they can see through our mask, and we can see through theirs. Don't worry...you'll get used to it. ๐
Complete obedience, naturally.
๐
LMAO! That's a lie, SR, and you know it. ๐
you know, after I read Gone With the Wind, I think Rhet Butler is a typical scorpio ๐
Nah, Rhett doesn't measure up. A real Scorpio man would never tolerate her affections for Ashley in secret.
He seems like a Taurus who has had enough. If anything, Scarlett seems like a Scorpio woman.
Yeah, he does come off as one. I know Scarlett was an Aries, but I don't think Rhett's birthday is ever mentioned.
Ashley seems like a Pisces or Cancer.
Total Pisces weakling = Ashley.
Please don't insult Scorpio men by including Rhett Butler among us.
LMAO! Rhett was friggin' cool, it wouldn't be an insult. I think I remember reading Mitchell based him on her husband and he was a Leo, if I'm not mistaken.
Rhett clearly was cool. But please try to refute my argument that a strong Scorpio male would play the minstrel in a sham marriage to some chick drooling over a gamma male (Ashley).
No, a scorpio wouldn't. But he wasn't a real person. He was a character. The writer could've got it wrong. ๐
I think Scarlett's birthday is actually mentioned as being in early April, Emmie. Seems like it's in the first couple chapters, too.
Hmmm...googled and found this:
".......readers have failed to notice that Gone With the Wind is, as Neil Spencer describes: ?a thinly disguised astrological allegory. Margaret Mitchell based the characters of her torrid epic on the zodiac, leaving a blatant trail of clues which were only picked up in 1978 when US astrologer Darrell Martinie was shown photocopies of notes from Mitchell`s library.?
Further investigation threw up, in a discussion forum, a list of zodiac signs and related GWTW characters. ( I don't know the origin of this list, or whether it is reliable.)
Aries - Scarlett O'Hara
Taurus - Scarlett's Father, and Tara the Plantation
Gemini: Prissy and Aunt Pitty Pat
Cancer: Melanie (Ashley's Wife)
Leo: Rhett Butler
Virgo: Scarlett's Mother
Libra: Belle Wattling (The Madam and friend of Rhett Butler)
Scorpio: Mammy
Sagittarius: Bonnie (daughter of Rhett and Scarlett)
Capricorn: Ashley Wilkes
Aquarius: Mr Kennedy, Scarlett's 2nd husband and Ashley's sister India Wilkes
Pisces: Scarlett's sisters and Scarlett's 1st husband."
Yeah, cuz that Aries-Cappy thing is so smokin' hot.
Sister (Aries) says of sister-in-law (Cappy): I just don't get her... at all.
My brother's marriage is the Aries-Cappy variety. Excluding his intense physical attraction to her, their relationship has never been easy.
Ohh...I did miss that. Damn them for double-spacing!
I think I read all this in a book about Mitchell, too. I think that's where the list came from.
Scarlett only wanted Ashley because she couldn't have him. ๐
It would have been more convincing if they'd picked someone hotter than Leslie Howard to play him in the film version, though. I mean, he'd have to be some pretty sweet meat to compete with Clark Gable. Gimme a BREAK!
"he'd have to be some pretty sweet meat to compete with Clark Gable."
Fish and Cat. I smell Jungle Fever.
๐
"I don't wanna be Prissy or Aunt PittyPat"
Aww..There, there. I'm stuck with Sue Ellen, Careen and pastey-faced Charles Hamilton.
Yes, can totally see Mammy as Scorpio. She was always AT LEAST three steps ahead of Scarlett. lol
LOL! I GET IT, EMMIE! hahaha
Come to think of it, had Ashley been a Pisces, he totally would have given in and cheated with Scarlett. lol She's drop-dead gorgeous and relentless. He so would have caved.
"Sue Ellen was a little beast, wasn't she? I'da tortured the hell outta her if she was my sister!"
OMG!!!!! One of my favorite scenes is when Scarlett slaps the shit outta her. HELLZ-TO-THE-YEAH! lol
'Nite Em.
In conclusion, dolphin, the answer to your question most definitely lies in GWTW. So give it a re-read. ๐
Thank you people! Yeah, Siren, you're right, I'll re-read it, though it's really sad to know that Rhet is a Leo, Scarlet does sound like an Aries, maybe they are just physically attracted to each other...
being obsessed by this topic: do you think that Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights is a typical scorpio?
YES! Very much so. And Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre always struck me as one too.
Scarlett and Rhett compatibility...just for fun:
"If you can get past the battle over who has the biggest ego, this can be a real winner for both. (Source: AquarianAge Romance )
For Aries: This is a most exhilarating combination. You both share the same likes and dislikes. You are both always on the go, craving excitement, love and fun. This is truly a link made in heaven. ( Source: Love Test )
For Leo: This is a capricious match. Your common interests and lusty passionate nature bring about outrageous social and sexual encounters. ( Source: Love Test )
Both are egotistical and need attention so this would be a fight for who gets the most. If neither takes the other seriously this could work out for both are dynamic energetic creatures. Leo is generous and good hearted. Aries is open to life. If they can compromise this could be a good union. Both are very romantic. It can be a good mating but needs work and compromise.
This is tied with Sagittarius as the number-one best match for Aries. Leo can truly be your soulmate. You are both confident, outgoing and love to charge ahead into the unknown. You will have an incredible time charging there together! The romantic chemistry between you two is fiery and can be long-lasting. Leo can really sweep an Aries off her feet. You will love his very romantic and generous nature, and he will love your sense of adventure and your intelligent mind. What will really seal the bond between you is his hidden vulnerability, which will bring out your cuddly and caring side. A soulmate match! (Source: Jellybean's Astro-Soulmate Guide )
Between the two of you, there's enough energy to light up the stage at a Kid Rock concert. Mr. Leo wants adventure, drama, and excitement and a girlfriend who knows what she wants. He's found it with you, Aries. Leo will ask for loyalty and massive displays of love, but the good news is, he won't ask for anything he isn't willing to give back to you in spades."
It makes sense that they were of the same element, especially when Rhett says:
"I love you. Because we're alike. Bad lots, both of us. Selfish and shrewd. But able to look things in the eyes as we call them by their right names."
HAHA! No kidding. Especially on the selfish part.
God, that's exactly what Rhett and Scarlett are described in GWTW! Nice shot, Siren ๐ Gee, Mitchell is a genius...
They're emotional and do a good job hiding it. they act all affectionate and cool but if they really into you and think you're mad at them or tring to pull away they get all clammy and scared. they can be pretty selfish and selfcentered so, whatever's going on in your life is about them. when you're upset about something that nothing to do with him he still thinks it's about him. they do want affection not in a smodering baby talk kind of a way but in a nice way. being "mysterious" has a lot to do with not letting people in and guarding their space. they want someone who "gets them" and will leave them alone๐ sp and jd got it to the point.
good advice!
"really confused"
You're a fish, hon. Kinda goes with the territory.
"...about scorpio guys..."
Nothing confusing...just tune in and enjoy.
Hmmm. I don't think ALL Scorpio guys are the same. I'm really interested in archetypes at the moment, and I wonder if that's what we're dealing with in literature. The Brooding, Unknowable Hero recurs, doesn't he... doesn't mean he HAS to be a Scorp, I suppose... but then I'm sure archetypes link to Astrology. Just not sure the Scorpio one would be either of the 3 symbols we associate with Scorp.
What do you think?
I think Scorpio on these boards sort of stands for the guy who comes on strong, but also doesn't, treats you like shit, but is always affectionate - in private. Unless he's affectionate in public, when you've performed the Heroic Task (whatever it is) and won his heart!
Pretty much 'Everyguy' for our generation.
It interests me to read this forum. I haven't looked at all the others but I'm guessing not every sign would have people identifying every trait known to [wo]man. Do you think Scorpio DOES represent The Lover? In all its guises, perhaps? Which would by why there is so much confusion and lack of concensus about what to expect?
**Do you think Scorpio DOES represent The Lover?**
Nah. I think that title belongs to Librans. ๐
**The Brooding, Unknowable Hero recurs, doesn't he... doesn't mean he HAS to be a Scorp,**
I've seen Capricorns and Aquarians that are even darker and more brooding that scorps. Cancers are a close second too. But while the scorps & cancerians WANT everyone to know that they are brooding, the Caps and the water-bearers (Aquarians) would be the dark, brooding, behind-the-scenes Anti-heroes. They'd just do the deed and quietly slip back into the shadows....
They're confusing cos they're men. Sums it up. Like we are cos we're women. I sitll think people seem to add to the confusion by trying to add in the Scorp (Cap/Virgo/whatever) factor.
'My Scorp did X,Y,Z - is it cos he's a Scorp?'
'Do Scorps beat you up and leave you for dead by the roadside?'
etc.
As if just dealing with the guys isn't confusing enough!
Yes, I suppose traditionally LIbra would be the lover, but interestingly there are a few signs who have never figured on my radar as friends or lovers. Aries and Libra are the two I know least about. So I'd never pick a Libra as a symbol of love. But the number of women determined to label Literature's broodiest, most passionate, shittiest guys as Scorpios is amazing! lol
That's 'cos they're constantly trying to get any number of women to spread their legs for them LOL!
I'd never pick Aries as The Lover though. Romance isn't their fort. They're more of the 'club 'em over the head & drag them back to the cave' types ๐
Scorp men like to be in control of all situations or he is unbalanced. He admires a woman who can hold her own and call him on his shit, but be supportive, and understanding. He sometimes expect her to accept things from him that he wouldn't tolerate from her and that sucks. If you allow him to do so he will eventually lose respect for you, if you don't he will keep a high level of respect for you but not be able to deal with it. You have to balance the two, but never compromise yourself for anyone.

They are said to be very emotional, mysterious and sensual, so what exactly do they seek in a woman?
