Why Scorpios crave a "fixed"

In astrology, matchmakers are keen to align Scorpios with fellow water signs, such as Cancer and Pisces. Why? It’s elementary: signs in the same element form trines and have a natural easy harmony with little built-in conflict. If this sounds fab to you, you may lack strong Scorpio sensibilities.

Ask yourself how many Scorpio men or Scorpio women list ease and the absence of conflict as number one lusts in a relationship?

Not many.

Scorpios like to entangle themselves in passionate, high-challenge and high-risk encounters; and it’s so spectacularly easy to convert tension and anger into dangerous, tempestuous passion.

Does anything scream passion and struggle more than a sun sign square? (OK, Venus – Mars squares or Pluto squares might, but that’s a fixation for another day).

This is where Scorpio’s primal draw to other fixed zodiac signs comes in. It may seem deranged and self-punishing, but Scorpios are often drawn to signs that form squares (90 degree angles) or an opposition (180 degrees) to their suns: Aquarius, Leo, and Taurus.

These three signs, particularly the first two are like Kryptonite to Scorpio — especially Scorpio women who often dominate in their relationships unless they are in a match with another fixed sign. Scorpios like to be the boss, but will have a hard time bossing Leos and Aquarius people around. That reality is part of the attraction.

Contrary to compatibility engines, fixed zodiac signs often do best and feel most alive with other fixed zodiac signs or people with lots of fixed energy: strength respects strength, power respects power, stubbornness respects stubbornness. I agree. I am a Scorpio woman and I am dating and madly in love with a Leo man. my attraction to him was his strength. I knew that everything wouldn't be my way and that was intriguing to me. I like to date people i can grow from and figuring him out consumed me. we had major issues and power struggles in the beginning but that's not an issue anymore.

This is so interesting. I'm Scorpio dom and Scorpio Venus and my husband has all Aqua Mars, Leo Merc, Taurus Moon. I was just telling him last night how I like a challenge. Yum.

I didnt read the whole thing lol Sorry OP.....But im assuming youre saying that us scorps should date other fixed signs? on a friendship level I get along very well with Aquas and Leos... but .as far as dating : NEVER AGAIN! I cant stand aqua chicks or Leos for different reasons....give me a mushy Cancer or an air-head pisces any day of the week over those two...bull chicks, I'll leave them out of this for personal reasons, but I wont let past pain get in the way of me dating another bull chick..but the other two...fawk no

If I'm understanding this topic correctly, my opinion is Scorpio crave something stable. It's a sign representing the extremes (among many other things) yet it's a fixed sign which feels uncomfortable. They live with lots of turmoil on the inside from living a life of ever changing emotions, and just want something they can hold on to and stop from changing. They want something just anything to remain the same for once. That would explain controlling tendencies, and a deep attraction to other fixed signs. Just my opinion.

I can't say much on this. Maybe it's just Scorpios that love other fixed signs. I can't say this for other ones since I've seen plenty of Taureans with Capricorns and Virgos. And Cancers too but I don't how they manage. I've seen plenty of Leos hook themselves up with a Libra like this one couple I know, plenty of them with an Aries as well. And Aquas? They're just all around until a Scorp scares them into or out of a relationship. lol

I actually agree with this. I like fixed/fixed, its like despite the differences, theres a similar wavelength they are always on, and its slow but constant uphill growth.

When they get determined, together, its over. All are team players too.

I'd say that this is at least partially true for me.

Oppositions are easier to handle than squares that the article focuses on, and sometimes are considered by astrologers to be ideal in synastry.

But with squares, at least for me, it's best when the signs themselves are square, but the degrees don't form what astrologers normally consider a square with my fixed planets and luminaries.

For example, an Aquarius or Leo sun person, if their sun is 0-6 degrees, does positive things with several of my planets and my moon. Even so, the energy is different from my Scorpio parts (I'm Scorpio sun, Venus and Jupiter) and Taurus rising. So the square still introduces tension to some degree, I think, but not so strongly that I feel like it's a concrete wall like it can with squares that are tight in degree.

I've known people with charts that overwhelmingly were positive with my chart, but there wasn't much of a draw to form a close relationship. There wasn't enough potential for transformation, is kind of what I sensed, which can be so vital to Scorpio folks.

I am leo, but am really drawn to virgos. Although I have realized that I briefly dated two scorpios in the past. Like a scorp now and the last virgo I dated had some scorp in his chart...the only one I Remer for sure is venus, but I think there were a few more placements

yes and no.

for me...I have a strong opposition in my chart. I also have scorpio/taurus in my 1st/7th house axis.

I love oppositions in certain places within synastry.

I have one lonely square in my whole chart that includes my earth singleton.....cap in jupiter square pluto libra.....so, I get anxious around squares but that also excites me.

I think your personal chart drives the aspects that you might be attracted to.

I have never run a synastry check on us...weird I know. There has to be alot of oppositions between the both of us then.

I've been watching her diy videos off/on for years now. I always knew she was an Aquarius, but I could never find the sign of her husband, but I finally found out he's a Scorpio. In her comment section people always say they wish they had a husband like him...someone who is so helpful and goes along with all of her ideas. This is like the team work I was talking about. He's in every video where she's taking on a project helping her out, and they have a beautifully decorated cottage. So, another Aquarius/Scorpio husband and wife.

Most astrologers say that it's only an aspect if it's within a certain number of degrees. When looking at the sun and moon, 8-10 degrees max is allowed, usually. With planets, 6-7 degrees max.

My Scorpio sun is 21 degrees. So, a Leo sun of 10 degrees isn't square with my sun because there are 11 degrees difference between them.

Some astrologers have even tighter allowable orbs for aspects, as close as 3 degrees.

Fixed signs largely come across as stubborn and inflexible. They actually don't want to try anything new from my experience.

This is why I couldn't understand how a Cardinal sign like Cancer could work with a fixed sign like Scorpio.

I will give you stubborn, inflexible sometimes (like when I feel really strongly about something or have tried something already and know that it isn't right). I love new experiences and learning new things, but sometimes getting past the comfort zone can be an issue (I think for anyone).

I am leo, but am really drawn to virgos. Although I have realized that I briefly dated two scorpios in the past. Like a scorp now and the last virgo I dated had some scorp in his chart...the only one I Remer for sure is venus, but I think there were a few more placements

thats part of it...lol The leo chicks I know needed constant attention and constant affection verbally, im like holy sheete I cant do this lol maybe its my bull moon but I cant...and the ones I know can be very superficial....I dont do superficial.....BUT I do get along with Leos very well...theyre all so nice and friendly and love a good joke..

I guess that could be true. My guy has a bull moon, I have cap moon and Libra Venus, so I need my alone time and small fine with a fair bit of distance. But when we need you, we need you there 100% .

We can get used to not getting attention all the time as long as what we do get is quality. At least that's how it is with n.

I have found Aries and cancer both willing to make a ton of changes. Cardinal signs are more willing to operate outside their comfort zone.

OTOH, if you find someone who has lived in the same house for 50 years this is probably a fixed sign

I think 'fixed' is much more potent when you look at the personal planets outside of sun sign.

moon, merc, venus and mars.......these actually are 'actions'. sun seems less important when I think of all the other energies involved.

I will give you this, Mars is very important. A weak mars can screw up everything but I don't agree that a strong is unimportant. When I say a strong sign I don't mean the sign but house, degrees and conjunctions.
