Seriously?? What - are you 8 foot tall or something?

How did you do it? or was it just the kiddie weight thing and you are one of those annoying chicks that bounce back into shape just for no reason?

Nope! Hair under 5'6". Not the annoying chicks that bounce right back either. LOL It was a slow process, two babies back to back..turned to the fridge for comfort ( depressed in my marriage and food was love ) and larded up. He walked, 40 lbs. peeled off. Bought a Pilates CD..kissed 60 more g'bye...appetite dwindled, felt faster, stronger, like fluid grace. Started waiting tables again, bid another 40 ( at last count ) good day, and here we are. I feel ..amazing. Strong. Sexy. Still have to drop 2 more trouser sizes, but hot damn do I feel GOOD! 🙂

Omg wow, Congrats VB 🙂! This is so wonderful, Im so proud of you mujer :'D! && You best believe Ill be ordering some baked goods from your future company 🙂! Do you have a name for it yet? Omg, this is so exciting teehehe!

Dont forget about your family here in DXP either now, look at your businesswoman self 😄!! Congrats again hun!

I am but a peon, a cog in the restaurant wheel presently. This is a toe in the door, and a good one. There have been grumblings in the dining room that MY pies aren't in that case already. I am well pleased with that. Next week this is all my baby, from scratch and start to finish. Word of mouth and generated business is what I'd like. Optimally this means I'd strike out on my own, be my own boss. That would be fabulous.
Hehehe, I'm excited too, chair bouncing excited..trying to keep a level head. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

🙂 I'm sure you will. This could work. There's a Pilates move that's great. Towel out extended with arms, lean back as far as you can, come forward as far as you can. I'm limber so I touch my nose to my knees. Back, then cross over one side, the other..like you're rowing a kayak. Looks graceful, it

LOL!!! Thanks! I like the generalizations. Being 5'10" and weighing 115# is not normal. That's extra-terrestrial. And it also makes things a damned bind for women built like me out cruising for jeans. The clothing industry sucks that way. Or you pick up a M..M for WHOM exactly, a toddler?
Yams..more of a States thing perhaps? We also make them into sweet potato pie, that is excellent.

^^ of course she does DoubleGem2! LOL! I remember when I lived with my ex-fianc?, he was always mesmerized when I cooked, because I didn't use any boxed mixes, etc. A cake was - Cake flour, sugar, etc. Mashed potatoes were, boiled potatoes, take through a ricer to make em' nice and smooth and lovingly prepared with heavy cream, butter...and other secrets I put in them.

My son called me the other day, and mentioned they were spending both holidays with me this year.I get the blessing of Ari's first Christmas.I asked "Thanksgiving too—" because I just always figured they'd alternate between families.he said yeah,he realized after they were here last Thanksgiving, then went home and ate other people's left overs...nobody cooks like mom.😉

Yes mashed potatoes were a big deal with my Irish father...my dad would put milk and butter.....Now I put milk, butter, sour cream and garlic powder....

I guess that was a dumb question.....I love apple pie, my father was a good cook he would use green apples. Seems to hold up better in the oven...nice and tart.

I must be part Irish somewhere down the line, because there is nothing better than a well prepared potatoe...le sigh 🙂 And then some whiskey! Yawwzaaa!

LOL...me too breast feeding that is....except the last one. Mom died while I was pregnant, plus I had some surgery during that last pregnancy. Just wanted my body back.

My condolences to you. It's hard, very hard.

Surgery is such a 5 star stunner, physically and emotionally. Really farks with you. I don't know what type you had, but I had my Irish twins very close together ( son was 4 months when I found out I was pregnant again ). Both of them c-section because of the gestational. First one I thought "Not so bad..". The second one I called my mother in tears because I felt so horrible and ugly. It looked like some mad scientist fitted me with a zipper.

"Two Fat Ladies", that wonderful British duo ( R.I.P. Jennifer.. )..love them too.

I LOVED THEM!! Their food was disgusting, but I LOVED to watch their show (R.I.P Jennifer). Them on their little scooter thing w/the side car; ciggie's danglin' out of their mouths and shoveling butter into ice cream! Ahhhh, good times!
Tyler Florence - worship him; Ina, Nigella and Giada - they are awesome and I have several of their cookbooks. Bobby Flay, though an ass, he can cook, and his restaurants are awesome! Micheal Chiarello - wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (although, he was on one of those shows and was uber arrogant, which shouldn't have surprised me, but did). I don't like Rachel Ray food, or Paula Dean food (though, I like Paula), nor Sandra Lee's food, but her table scapes are really nice though!

Sandra Lee frightens me on many levels. LOL I think it's because I backpedal with ferocity at most things in a box or packet. And she predominantly uses those while she cheerfully chugs booze and bounces her silicone funbags around. *horns peeping out*
I have watched the show for amusement more than anything, the pained look on peoples faces for one. For two I just tot up mentally all the sodium, fat, etc. in what she makes, how she all but salivates when making a 'smart lil' cocktail'. I also have a monetary clicker going full throttle. "Okay, 5.95 for that, 3.45 for that, 6.75...WTF?! Saving WHAT?! BITE MY CORNHOLIO! Home made that would be under 5 semolians!" How everything down to the stand mixer matches her clothes..the table scapes can be hit or miss. Some are unique and attractive, some are just downright tacky. But hey, she has fun with it, no?
And there again the very jaded part of me thinks "Hmmm, who'd she blow to get the TV show anyways?" *filing horns*

First one was vaginal, 22 hours of labor, no drugs. EEEEEEEEP! Episiotomy from the 7th Bolgia of Hades. I was cripple crab walking down the hall to my shower, the nurse thought I was favoring myself. Being a whiner. Until she looked down my underoos and gasped; she turned around and immediately got me a surg glove full of ice. AHHHHHHHHHHH, much better.
Yep, the last two were both gestational, and had to get a cheerful Rho-Gam shot early on for added fun. But as you know, when those 40 weeks are up, they are UP. I was thrown on pitocin twice, failed twice ( my first daughter was 3 weeks overdue, I like to reeeealllly bake those buns in the oven ), so c-section they were.

LMFAO!! No, she was (rumored) to be snogging that one guy, Gordon Eliott (I think that's his name). He is one of the head honchos there. I think he did that one show where they would go to peoples homes and cook what they had in their cabinets. Again, just a rumor, but I do know she got a divorce awhile ago. I only watched her for the true "FREAK" factor. I'm definitely not the frugal one, I don't care how much it costs as long as it's good. I can make something inexpensive that is delicious, or I can get some truffle oil, saffron threads, etc and make an extravagant and decadent meal too. I'm all about versatility, but remember, I'm single and no children, so if I had to feed a ton of people, my perception may be a bit different...

Shit!!! I had gestational with my firt pregnancy, luckily I was in the clear with the other two. They found a lump in my breast, had to remove it...at the same time my mothers cancer came back, in her lungs, bones and liver...she was gone in 3 months time I was...

😢 I'm so sorry DoubleGem2 😢

Thanks...she is missed very much...my best bud😢

My mom is the bestest too, so it's always strange to me, when I meet people that are estranged from their parents and haven't talked for years. BUT, I'm not judging, I just don't get it; however, some people have very good reasons to not talk to their family...I've heard some horror stories! I am not that close with anybody in my family anymore, because as you get older and move, etc, it gets harder, plus, I have NOTHING in common with most of my family; besides lineage. Not that it isn't important, but I have a lot of friends and stuff, and they are wonderful, so as that old expression, "You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family." It's so true. I'm 180 degrees different from most people in my family; even when I was younger, my mom would always asks, "Where did you come from?" Not in a bad way, but I'm just different 🙂

I'm curious to know what's everybody's favorite dish?

My favorite dish right now is Seafood Paella. When my girl came in to town she made this dish and needless to say it was off the chain. Mussels, jumbo shrimp, calamari, chicken, red and green bellpeppers, finely chopped green onions, long grain rice and I think that's all that was in it. But it was delish!!!!! Oh dry white wine and oyster broth, I think. I'm going off of my memory. But oooh it was heaven. I've been craving that meal ever since. Oh and some kind of sausage. Don't ask which one, I have no idea.

Damn GM you cooking like that?! The Gourmet Chefs are in da house...VB, GM, DG....I'm inviting myself to dinner, what do I need to bring? Okay, to be fair, I'll purchase all the ingredients, just put your magic touches on it and save me a seat! 😄

Diabetic, my little lamb. She was 11 when she passed away. Who does not bitch about their children when they're being lil' sphincterages? I do with mine ( my eldest girl is 20, my son will be 15 Sunday.. ) and even though it makes me sad to talk about her, it's good too. I want to share her, not shuffle her away like she never existed. Some don't quite cotton onto that fact. Even in great grief, the love always shines. She's here *tapping heart and head*. Forever. When October 29th rolls around, I will be making her a cake for what should have been her 14th birthday, and singing "Happy Birthday" with tears in my eyes..and the love will shine.

She was diagnosed with it in April of that year after a tremendous bout of ketoacidosis, her first one. Nothing the GP caught, nor I caught. August 7th of same year she passed away, brain swelling from ketoacidosis, it choked everything she was out of her. Her specialist, and others said I did everything right, they feared it was a combination of catching it too late, her system was ravaged and her insulin not working properly. i.e. it failed her. One older specialist at university my father talked too called her 'brittle'. The honeymoon period was never over for her. She'd spike and crash..spike and crash. Despite proper diet, needles on time, regular endicronologist appts. etc. Loads of calls from the school..I sent in candies and small sodas so she could have what she needed..my guts in a knot knowing she might not be alright day to day. That was the saddest night of my life. Will be forever. Crawling into that bed and holding my child as she died. I gave her LIFE. Not supposed to happen, she was to give me grandchildren. Give me hell as she grew up and thought I was full of shit until she got old enough to realize I was right. She was not only my daughter, but my best friend. We were linked from womb till end. She rocked at my side the entire time.
I made this for us, the poem is not mine...but it's been up on a page of mine with her picture ever since.
