Hey ladies, I want to hear about proposals. Have you been proposed to/proposed to someone? Was it romantic, disappointing, etc? How did you react? How long were you engaged before getting married?

If you haven't been engaged or married, I'd still like to hear your thoughts on what you would do/what you would like to happen and perhaps some proposal 'do and don't's (such as 'no dinner proposals!', etc)

The gem and I dated for four months (yikes!) and he had bought the ring. He came and got me from work for lunch and when he was dropping me off he handed me the ring and asked. It wasn't romantic, but I think he was so excited he couldn't wait to give it to me (he had bought it that morning). It was four months from then that we got married. It all went wayyyyy to fast, but we were young and in love and excited. It was fine, but we never had a nice story to tell.

I don't know how I'd like it done next time. Definitely don't put it in my drink! I don't want to go fishing if I swallow it. lol!

Never been proposed to, hopefully I'll get to experience it during this lifetime 🙂 All I really want is for it to be a surprise. I tend to guess intentions much too easily.. Christmas presents too, they never manage to surprise me, somehow I always guess what I'm getting. I'm very much game for anything, whether something humorous and exciting, or just a traditional romantic proposal in an intimate restaurant. It is a very special event in life, so I would appreciate something well thought-out, but it is the person and feelings behind it that really matter. I'm a sucker for romantic gestures and just thinking about it makes me all giddy haha 😄

my first husband proposed on his knees.

the next ex tried forcing me to marry him.

the next after that, thought about marriage very strongly with me, but his love of freedom and not wanting to further go to the next stage was too strong. He is still single to this day (from what i heard from people who still go to the neighborhood where he is since they have friends there, and they happen to relay the message, like, "hey, he got himself a new girl, and she looks like you, but no they're just living together."
um ok.

my husband kind of was forceful but soooooo romantic. we even argued on the way to the private ceremony but snuggled and looked into eachother's eyes and knew we'd be happy.

i've had exes say "i should've proposed"

yeeesh.

talked about marriage, but never a proposal.

my sister's proposal was amazing??_ her hubby is a US marshall. police officer at the time. he had one of his buddies pull her over, and she's really gullible and skiddish when it comes to the police, so she really thought she was in trouble. his friend acted like he was going to cuff her. while she was turned around, my brother in law traded places and had his friend ask out loud "will you marry me" my sister apparently was like 'wtf—' definitely well done.

yeah that's being INDECISIVE. if they have doubts, it's not meant to be.

that's a very strange proposal allright.

That sounds eerily familiar to what Robert did to Amy on Everybody Loves Raymond.

i didnt know you watched all the episodes of "everybody loves raymond". I knew that Robert is a cop, but i didnt see that episode where he proposed to Amy. I did see where he coincidently met her again after futile attempts of having different girls to go out.

definitely a strange proposal for most people, i would think, but it definitely fits the couple that they are. they're pranksters and a limelight couple??_ she's a triple libra and he's a leo. wouldn't be surprised if he were a double or triple leo with the way he is. they're hysterical together.

their wedding was at The Madonna Inn in california??_ just whacky.

Should have told you by now
But I can't find the words, oh, no
If I could show you somehow
But I don't have the nerve

And you don't see me looking at you
How can love be so blind?
Somehow, you don't notice me
Sooner or later there will come a time, baby

If you needed somebody
The way that I need you
If you wanted somebody
The way that I want you

The way that I want you

If I could hold you tonight
It would last me forever
But the time's never right
When will we be together, oh, no

If I could make you understand
What you're doing to me
Maybe there will come a time
When sooner or later I will make you see, baby

If you needed somebody
The way that I need you, baby, tonight
If you wanted somebody
The way that I want you

If I could tell you now
The way you make me feel
If I could show you somehow
Don't you know my lovin' is loved so real?

If you needed somebody
The way that I need you and baby, tonight
If you wanted somebody
The way that I want you

My ex handed me the empty box during dinner. :p couldn't afford a ring and never did get around to getting one... He had already broken up with me several times.

Long story, but we only lasted a year after that.

I said yes because I didn't want to hurt his feelings (would NEVER do that again), but never started planing or even looked at a dress.

Current bf likes to make joke proposals on the fishing boat with a "wedding band "(fishing tackle)... It feels more serious than someone who breaks up with you several times proposing with a box lol (side note: even a 25 cent ring with no flakiness prior would have worked)

Mr. Pisces did a treasure hunt with clues at different places we had gone, so I discovered the first clue when I came over, drove around finding clues and the last one was where he asked me to be his girlfriend in a private park area. Then he got on one knee and asked. It was super sweet. 🙂

That's beautiful!

A Scorpio friend proposed to me suddenly one day, over coffee.

Took me by surprise because we'd only been friends for 6 months.

I asked her straight up what possessed her to propose. She sheepishly said it's cos I was going back to Singapore in a month's time and that she didn't want me to go back.

Awwww
