What was the context? Were you having a discussion that would warrant such a comment or was this just out of the blue?

If someone just said that to me out of nowhere I would take it as an insult. Like that person is judging me.

Depending on what i did or said to make you feel the need to help me in such way, i could either be touched or tell you to find yourself first.

I'd be soooo offended lol. And put some distance between us. Clearly they're judging me. And then take a look in the mirror to make sure I'm good.

But if it was a girl/guy ur dating she probably thinks she can teach u "how to love" yourself enough so that u can love him or her or something

About the same way that I would feel if someone told me to travel and stay in an overseas country and help them ie. an orphanage as it will improve my attitude in life.
