In theory a baby's mind would be pure and simple as opposed to an elderly person, which would be much more vast and complex, correct? Now you know how dreams work within the mind? Just your brain filing away the shit ton of info you absorbed and processing it? Finally, have you heard people say (Mind, body and Spirit) when talking about taking of yourself and life and other "positive" things?

Okay, now imagine all humans having a latent ability to be reality-warpers, due to their connection to a higher power. Let's send something in to trigger this energy, which humans can't tap into or even believe in. Now take your mind, experiences, along with your soul/spirit, your mind and body being set at their peak. The world around you being manipulated into a complex maze based upon the cluster fuck of our own mind.

So a trigger caused you to create a maze from stuff of your own mind, your mind, body and spirit are separated and are in this maze. Now what? Well the trigger would be trying to hunt down and devour your soul, if they succeeded, your mind break as the maze falls a part. Your body would become a course doll, basically, unless it was controlled by an outside force. Which would be the mission of the "trigger/villain" in this situation.

With how your personal-maze is set up, finding just the body would take time relative to how complex the maze was. So the more stuffed with crap your brain is, the better. Your spirit would be the golden prize in all this, hence why you wouldn't be able to locate it normally, without a method to find it.
One would be to use your body to trick your mind into revealing where your spirit is. Another would be (spoilers).

So with all that going on, you might wonder what happens to the area and people in the area around you when the maze was created? Well they're trapped and basically clueless and helpless as they wander around in the maze confused and wanting to get out. To anyone outside the maze, the area would be covered by heavy fog and have a electrical barrier (Though other types of weather/elements are possible) that would prevent MORE people from entry.

So how does everything get solved and made better? The "trigger/villain" could eat your soul, which is bad. Or if a third party can manage to get through the barrier defense, navigate the maze, track down the body, seal the mind within the body and protect the spirit from the trigger, they can the safely join the mind, body and spirit back togethe
