i think so too. she likes him or else she wouldnt give him the time and energy in a workplace like that.
she is very helpful herself, and very easy to talk to, which is why the young man was most likely so happy to find someone he could connect to on a personal level.

It is below standards, he is moving closer to the standard level which is expected of others but there is still quite a margin.
He has not gotten away with anything, push comes to shove, if we have to discharge him, then so be it.
He is a burden to me, professionally.

He has a wealthy background, which explains his priviledged ways, although this does not happen to all who were born wealthy. He unfortunately is the sort to still rely on it.
He has yet to know we are looking for a replacement, but he may have an inkling because as said he has picked up his productivity rate.
