Yes, communication in a general way is clear and direct. But feelings? Deepest emotions? Nope, not at all. No one in my family, including my mom, has EVER seen my dad cry. He could NOT deal with strong emotions; he'd just get angry.
It could be different for women though. Aqua women are quite different from their male counterparts.

Oh and he turned the tables on me and tried to make me feel sorry for him when he upset me and i pulled him up for it.

Mercury is your style of communicating and like you said in this post, we are direct. If we like you, we will tell you. If you repel us, we will tell you in a nice way etc.

I would think mercury's sign would influence what you communicate though too. Like not comfortable communicating emotional stuff, depending on moon.

I was in a relationship with a Pisces sun, Aqua moon and mercury guy for nearly 10 years. IMO it's definitely your guy's Pisces bits that are closed off and moody.
I got along really well with my ex's Aqua moon and mercury because I'm Libra sun and mercury with gem moon. We did communicate about feelings, but in a rather intellectualised and detached way. My ex also had Pisces venus but his mars was in Aries. Plus he was much older. He pursued me quite relentlessly, I never had any doubts he wanted to be in a relationship with me. When I met him he was already in his late 20s. I'm sure he never had any problems staying faithful to his girlfriends before me. I know most of his ex-gfs and I would definitely have heard something about the cheating, if there were any.
The problem he did have, and one that he was still working on when we met, was drug addiction. He spent most of his late teens to mid 20s in a haze of drugs and alcohol, which is fittingly neptunianesque :-/

Thinking back about his drug problems, it's interesting how his Aqua moon and mercury played their parts. He refused to acknowledge he was addicted, justifying that he CHOSE to take drugs and that his drug-use helped in his creativity. He is a musician. He used to claim that he heard the best music in his head whenever he was high. Very interesting to talk to, but even I had problems following his Aqua/Pisces logic sometimes.
