Emulating the qualities of our Rising signs

Last night I was thinking about our sun signs thinking about my Gemini Sun - I came to the conclusion that our Sun signs are our vestigial selves. Is it more important to emulate the qualities of our rising signs?

I just called up Boston Hospital for Women - medical records for me and my sister's recorded birth times, I have to wait about thirty days, submit a written request with mom's personal info like her name and social. The receptionist at medical records gave me the impression that they would have to rudimentarily search for it considering my 1977 birth and sister's 1980, lol.

Yes she does, I'm a Scorpio Ascendant.

This is what I did

6.pm - 6.30 Scorpio - Sagittarius Rising or Sagittarius Rising.

Sister - Sun in Sagittarius, Moon in Aries and Ascendant in 'Saturn.'

To emulate some of the good qualities of your ascendants was what I meant.

Speaking in the physical sense, how one looks to the outer world; there are people who may take on the characteristics of their sun-sign more strongly, and then their are some people who may resemble more of their rising sign/ascendant. However for the MOST part, it's usually somewhere in the middle, that perfect balance between Sun and Ascendant, which not only includes how we physically appear, but our presence, our aura, our joi 'd vie.

Curiously, in my own observations, regardless of rising sign or sun, i have also found planet Mars to give us a dash of influence to our appearance, as well.. For eg. Mars in cancer will be well endowed in the breast/chest area-men included. Mars in Leo, a thicker, lusher mane of hair. Mars in Aries, taunt strong appearance. etc etc

DKO9-That makes You a double Aquarius. You will not only act aqua, you will 'look' very aqua, as well. So taking into account the *trine* of your birthchart-sun-moon-acendant, you will find and others will find, the qualities of your MOON sign to shine through with even more brillance..

I resemble my Gemini sun only, I have thick soft wavy Taurus hair get it from my Taurus mom.

It's ideal to have a balance of all 4 elements in your birthchart anyway, so the watery element of the more intense, highly observant scorpio should be a healthy welcome to the more intellectual icy tones of aqua, interesting contrast i think..lol*

True it helps, but even moreso mars in sag promotes courage, independace, and daring; impulsiveness too; however it's really about a blending of all ten planets + ascendant... *You can analyze each tree - for deeper knowledge, but in the end we live in the forest, *our whole selves..'so to speak..

AFAIK the rising has most of it's affect on how people see/treat you initially. The way you come across to others. When I got in to this astro stuff beyond sun signs and everything. I started to see it in action.

People tend to treat me initally as someone who is practical, strong, down to earth, self aware and driven. My rising sign is Taurus. I think I am all of these things, but I am also laid back, contemplative, diplomatic, humerous and all those things that describe my sun and moon signs which are Libra.

I am alwayses surprised by the amount of "faith" people put in my abilities and how much they take my word as truth in regards to business and the professional world. Not that they shouldn't, but for someone who is 23 and self taught in just about everything (dropped out of college), people tend to have a lot of respect for me initially. When I started to think about this...I think that they are picking up mostly on my rising sign characteristics.

I also think that people naturally project their rising sign characteristics to others when they initially meet them. Around close friends and familiar aquantiances the Libra is a lot more apparent. When meeting someone initially I think I come across a lot more Taurus. I tend to be friendly but verbally minimal, and more purposeful as in gathering information about the person rather than small talk. I actually kind of suck at small talk, which isn't very Libra.

My sister is Taurus sun and Moon with Aqua rising, and she seems more aqua around people she just met. My mom is Aqua with Virgo rising and comes across as virgo around new people as well.

I think people resort more to their rising sign when things start moving really quickly as well. If I am a getting overloaded at work or socially the Taurus comes out more...I think...It is hard to tell because the other libras I know while indecisive in day to day life become really decisive and self assured when things get tense.

Yup, I have a lot of asthetic polarity. Peace and harmony is extremely important to me, and I have this underlying burning need to seperate and mix the objective and subjective to reveal simple truth, weather they exist in one, the other or both. Most arts I get into pretty easily, at least conceptually....my strongest are being martial arts. There has always been a simplicity to me in the manipulation of the human body, weather mine or someone elses. Also, sensuality are very important to me. I love peace and harmony but am willing to raise a little or a lot of hell to get it.

I agree that the rising sign comes out most when with aquaintances or meeting new people. Mine probaly only affects me with other people in the way of being able to be lighthearted and a bit chatty. Rising is Libra and consequently I get along with Aquarius extremely well as well as Gemini! But, since I am a Capricorn and very calm and contemplative, the balance of the Libra makes me even more calm lol. Can't remember the last time I yelled at someone or really was livid and showed it.
Air and Earth combo...it's tough - your mind is always divided on things (and of course, that's a Libra trait), which totally opposes the Capricorn set in stone type personality. Anyone else share my Air/Earth pains?! lol

the messed up thing for me is, I'm as internally strong, and unsentimental as I project....but there's a great sense of humor in there, and some other things too....I Jessica45, I share this in a way.....Virgo, loves to think about things, but Cap wants to make it happen....it's crazy like that, My Merc. is in Libra and alot of my chart is exalted, ego the name VirgoEXALTED Im a Virgo, and My chart has good placement.

i dont think earth rising signs are any rarer than any other sign but man it sure seems like it sometimes. my life would have been so much easier if i had a fire rising sign. thats all i meet, i have like 4 exs that are fire signs rising im like a magnet or better yet a ....target.lol i just want to meet a chick whos down to earth.....🙂

For me rising sign is emptier than most would find it.

It's like mannerisms and physical appearance, I think sun, moon, and Mars have a uh more personal influence on us

Ascendant is like midheaven, it's more of a style and starting point. Angular houses are very enhanced with transits planets in that house and conjunctions

I have Virgo rising and I do look very much like a Virgo and share Virgo traits but it's just a thin surface and it doesn't rub off much on others

You are totally right!!!

But the rising sign and the MC hold a great importance for me.

The rising sign can give you some clues about someone personal tastes for example and the MC can clarify your position in the society or on what you should focus regarding your relationship with others.

The natal chart is made to be seem as a whole and not isolated like most of the people do. This is why a reading from a professional is so valuable, they are able to solve the puzzle for you.

What about Mars in Sagittarius?

Good legs. These are the people who can really rock shorts. Often I see them in winter wearing shorts. Amazing. I envy those legs.
