There are a lot of nuances in this and honestly the media isn't doing such a bad job this time. Besides Fox news (surprise) most mainstream media sources have been holding back on making preemptive statements. The real problem is people who can't wait to see the facts and want to draw their own conclusions to twist their narrative.
Unfortunately a lot of it stems from racism. Even before there was any real evidence to be sceptical of, some people of a certain political position called him guilty. And that's a real problem here especially when it comes to crimes against minorities.
Personally it's not that I'd ever want this to be true but if it isn't, that means Mr. Smollett did in fact lie and plan this. Which will hurt the victims of actual hate crimes, this hurts poc, this hurts the lgbtq community. And it's just incredibly sad that an actual advocate of these things would inflict such harm just for his own revenge or whatever the reason is. The whole thing is a mess and there's no happy ending here.

There are a lot of nuances in this and honestly the media isn't doing such a bad job this time. Besides Fox news (surprise) most mainstream media sources have been holding back on making preemptive statements. The real problem is people who can't wait to see the facts and want to draw their own conclusions to twist their narrative.
Unfortunately a lot of it stems from racism. Even before there was any real evidence to be sceptical of, some people of a certain political position called him guilty. And that's a real problem here especially when it comes to crimes against minorities.
Personally it's not that I'd ever want this to be true but if it isn't, that means Mr. Smollett did in fact lie and plan this. Which will hurt the victims of actual hate crimes, this hurts poc, this hurts the lgbtq community. And it's just incredibly sad that an actual advocate of these things would inflict such harm just for his own revenge or whatever the reason is. The whole thing is a mess and there's no happy ending here.
My original post was hypothetical. Like, look at America, it’s got to the point where a celebrity has made a situation he’s apparantly suffered in, and they wore MAGA hats and he’s black and homosexual.
This came right after that brat in maga hat was on tv. Then it came out maga hat part of hate crime wasn’t true. So, that leads us to believe he added that for political division. And to create rage reaction.
It worked.
It also means he affected two other types of communities if he lied.
People don’t want to believe they are being lied to and that’s also why they don’t want to believe someone would sink this low.
Anyways, I’m not American. Canadians learn at a young age how involved celebrities are a part of that culture. I don’t believe anything that comes out of Hollyweird. I just saw it all as a celebrity tabloid drama.

My statement was one made in general and it still stands.
Though I will disagree that people don't want to take the story as a lie simply from belief only. The after effects of what I previously mentioned are definitely reasons as well. And I suppose if you're a more logical person you might also question the lack of logic if the story was fabricated. Of course not every person thinks this way. And again by saying this, I'm not saying Jussie is making things up either, in this way it is also hypothetical. I will wait for the investigation to be over.
I can see since it came from TMZ, no less, why someone from another country might see it as a tabloid. But unfortunately this might be more than just a crazy actor caught in weird drama. This unfortunately is incredibly serious. And it's not something only America deals with.

And you know what, because I've been a victim of CPD lies and bullshit... I really wanted to believe that shit happened to him and the cops were trying to cover it up.
Then after awhile, I started to believe maybe he got attacked.. But it wasn't about what we think it's about. Maybe he lying about the cause and he really owed somebody some money and they wasn't playing with his punk ass.
But in the end, I didn't want to jump to conclusions.. I wanted to let time tell, I don't never jump on the internet yelling about injustices.
But finally, I just really wasn't that interested in the story.. I really coulda gave a shit less.. I didn't give a single fuck that the guy got his ass kicked or whether he was lying or telling the truth.
And I think mainly because racist shit like that NEVER happens in the City of Chicago, so it was hard for me to identify with that. It felt very unreal. We never have racist attackers, in fact Chicago hates Trump with a passion.
So Jussie pulled the fugazi on the wrong city. He thought people would believe it happened here because of our violent reputation.
