Awwwww so that being liked and people pleasing thing comes from having a 1st house in venus? Wow.
Now I see why I don't relate to that as a Libra ascendant (venus chart ruler) like astrologers say we are.
No experience with that placement. Hopefully someone will help you on this as I'm interesting in reading everones response to this. I can learn something too.
I guess it's not the same for everyone. My Venus is Capricorn 23° and my Ascendant is Capricorn 20° so it's a quite tight conjuction. Also Capricorn is all about social acceptance and recognition too. Plus it's conjuct Mars from the 12th and Neptune in 1st too.

I am not sure. I think a lot of placements can cause a specific thing in someone.

I have Venus in Leo/1st House - but i can't relate with the bolded text. 🙄
For most of my life - my self-esteem was fueled by my personal thoughts. Even so and to be honest - there were some people... who had quite an impact on my self-esteem. But that's because they were really dear to me... because i really trusted and loved them with all my being. So obviously - i valued their opinions. But those are the only exceptions. Besides them - i doubt you'll find anyone who can agree with the bolded text (me carrying what people think of me - or being a people pleaser 🤢 🤮). More like the opposite.
Even more than that - i used to be a class clown. I can be a joker/comedian at times - so if i were to put at heart what people think of me - that type of behavior would have worked against me (affect my self-image). Still, i don't like to hurt people - so i do care in that sense (if i cross the line - and hurt someone who's not deserving).
Other than that - i'm usually polite/respectful with the people that serve me in some way (simple gratitude gestures like saying thanks or have a lovely/nice day). I can be pleasing - and that's usually linked to Venus. But that's far from what i would call a people pleaser. Since in that line of work - the people in question feel obligated/compelled to be respectful, so if they treat me good - i simply return the favor (cause same can't be said about the ones who treat their clients like shit).
Also, Venus trines Jupiter in my chart - and that's also what emphasizes this type of behavior (social grace). That's just one astrological placement tho (one piece of the whole puzzle).

The only thing I can think of is that Leo is a different energy than Capricorn and probably acts different. Plus it's the rest of the chart that plays a part too.
I have Venus conjunct Pluto (in Scorp) in my 1st house, and a Libra ascendant/Sun.
Needless to say, I'd lay on the charm to be liked, but I was always conscious of going too far with it (Virgo moon?). Luckily I don't care as much anymore, but that was definitely my natural tendency until a few years ago.

I have venus in 1st. I am not a charmer, but I definitely make friends easily.
Acceptance and to be liked in general is not something that I strive for, or even think about. I am, who I am, and what other people think or say is not going to influence the way I am. I am definitely not a pleaser. What you see is what you get. I am genuine — I won’t do or say anything just to please someone else. I like to accept people for who they are and I want them to do or say things because they want to, not because they think that’s something that I would want.
Recognition is not something I want either. I want to go unnoticed. The less attention the better, I just want to do my own thing.
My self esteem is not gained from what other people think of me, but of what I think about me. Am I trying my best to accomplish my goals and am I reaching them? As long as I am happy with the way I am, or at least striving to be the person I want to be then I am confident and happy.
