Signs cancer man is interested? How to make them interested?

I dont think this guy is interested in me but I really want to. He helps me but just when it's convenient for him. He complimented me once ( said I'm smart). I dont know what else.... : /

I think letting him know you are interested is the first step. How does it help? Please don't insult your intelligence like that. Stop exposing yaself.

But the way he interacts with me makes me think he's not interested in, something like, he just helps me when it's convenient for him. When I text to ask him stuff, if he's not sure, he tends to ignore and reply it way too slow (postpone to the day after). I wanted to buy him food (lunch) to return his favor, he rejected, said no need.(I feel like he doesnt want to get lunch with me). But he is friendly and nice (I guess he is to everyone). So I dont think he's interested in me. Also, he's good looking, tall, and everything, a frat too, so beautiful girls around him everyday!
