Difference between Capricorn and Scorpio

Saw an interesting comment that Caps and Scorps are the same.....

Do you agree or disagree? Please explain how they are different or similar!

I see similarities between Scorpio and Taurus. I think its just that cap/scorp gravitate to or understand eachother the way taurus/cancer do, but i see more similarities between thr opposites.

I think both cap and scorp are ambitious and sexual, both are attracted to power and possess a bit of it within. Both are a bit edgy and dark.

Idk about much else.

I've always heard that scorpios are like capricorns, but without the shields.

So, take away the capricorn shields and you have a scorpio.

Agreed. But in different ways, I feel.

I do have a lot of plutonian energy, but I'm first and foremost a capricorn and I can almost feel myself switch from capricorn mode to and from scorpio mode at times. And funny thing, whichever "mode" I'm in, I would probably act the same way outwardly, I would probably answer most questions the same way, but I feel differently about it and may even have different motives. Yup, that sounded weird, but it's difficult to explain. It's quite natural in my head. 🙂 Would be interesting to know if anyone actually got what I just wrote and/or could identify with it(maybe with other signs?)

I can have switches in "mode" to and from cancer and sag too, but that's a completely different feeling. Between cap and sag, for instance, it can be really weird at times. With cap and scorp, it's so much easier and more fluent.

I love comparisons between these two. Mostly because they are my most compatible pairings. The similarities between them are more in how they both have hard exteriors with deep emotional centers. They both have a sense of groundedness about them even if its just the facade to protect themselves. The differences are how they finalize their emotions and actions. Scorpios tend to go the more emotional route more often prioritizing it first even when it looks they are not, where the Capricorn will try to make the more rational decision based off of facts, observations then emotions.

I think they process and react to their lives in a similar manner but prioritize differently. My mother is a scorp and my sister a cap its interesting how they come to the same conclusions but make completely different mental journeys to get there.

Not that I know a lot about astrology, but I'd say a moon and rising in scorpio makes you a lot more scorpio than I am, at least. I just have scorpio as my third most dominant sign(after cancer and capricorn) and pluto as my second dominant planet(after the moon) and it feels like pluto is sticking its nose into most things I do. But now that others can obviously see the similarities between cap and scorp, maybe I need to revaluate. What is scorp? What is cap? Maybe I'm just too close to see?

May I ask you as a fellow capricorn with a lot of scorpio energy, how do you think the capricorn and the scorpio in you work together and in what way. Possibly. But. We both(three, including cheekyfaerie) have cap suns and strong scorpio energies, even though I'd say both you and cheekyfaerie have more scorpio in you than I do. So I thought you both know a little bit about how to balance these energies and how they work together for you, allthough weighted more to the scorpio side, ofc. Thought I'd listen to some of your experiances to hopefully learn something about myself. 🙂 But since it's difficult for me, I can ofc see that it would be difficult for you too.

Well I got scorp sun n cap rising I think they mesh pretty well. My taurus moon is the one that hold me back.

Interesting. I can relate to the cap/scorp going well together, and then I have my sag venus that goes against pretty much all other aspects of me. I know it's probably difficult to describe, but in what way do you feel cap and scorp mesh and taurus, not so much?

In my opinion both scorps and caps have many similarities. both feel deeply, trust in relationships is important for both of them, both are loyal. I have moon, ascendant, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus all in Capricorn In other words I have a Capricorn dominant chart and just a Pluto in Scorpio. The other day I posted my chart in a Scorpio forum asking what makes me feel like a Scorpio lol. we have many similarities the only difference I can see is that Capricorns are more practical than Scorpios and Scorpios are more intense than Capricorns.

They have stingers and claws. We have hooves and horns. 😄

I'm a cap Sun and Scorpio rising. I guess that is good.

I respect EVOLVED Scorpio males too. Caps do have foresight and wisdom, but I think what attracts me to Scorpios is the experience. Imo, Caps lack experience because they feel they know the answers and what the outcome will be. In turn, Scorpios experience more things, know the outcome, and another route to take, so something is gained from the experience that they can tell/teach you about. I think that depth of going through it attracts me. Caps can come across a little fluffier lol, because we know but sometimes don't even know why we know.

Caps have "some" of the answers.

+1 oooh... this is a nice comparison.

Both Caps and Scorps have a lot in common. We think similarly in MANY ways and sometimes share these conservative points of views, priorities and discipline in achieving our goals. The common ground is abundant. But, in my experience... I have the most fun with Caps in the sense that I immediately see that what they have is a shield and inside is a wild beast that I just LOVE to see come out 😈 just like Scorps with our masks.

It is because of this common ground and understanding that I have the ability to make it come out, I think. With my girl/guy friends & lovers, they always look so serious and conservative... but, with me they would just start shining and come out of their shell. So, I would dig for more. It would be the trust that they had in me that would allow them to go for more and explore more of themselves. They are very sweet, goofy, funny, affectionate, insecure, and with support... very wild and sneaky 😈 I have to admit I would sometimes get a power trip from being able to make it happen... LOL! But it's sooo much fuuuuun!!! 😆

They have a more structured discipline and Scorps have a disciplined focused side meshed with passion and rebellion. Caps are sometimes too scared to get rebellious and show passion or too much emotion BUT its there.

I also have my masks and it also took me a while to completely let the wild side live and make its presence known. For me it was a couple of Pisces guys and Cancer/Leo cusper women and one Libra girl that provided that safe environment for me to explore that part of me.

The nutshell is that I agree with truecap in that it's hard to differentiate. It's a pretty harmonious energy tho. Don't feel terribly conflicted in my every day goings on. Both do seem to be at odds with my Aqua Venus so I feel ya on your Sag one. Can't speak for you, but it makes me more happy go lucky than your typical, conservative Cap. And a rollercoaster in relationships. All the fixed stuff can make me pretty insufferable sometimes too.

Anyway, simply sayin we may be Caps, but we're way more than just our suns.

It does make me more happy go lucky.

It's like I flutcuate between sag and scorp, which is really really weird as I want to really really merge with a partner, but at the same time be exremely-free-and-independent-and-noone-can-reign-me-in. And then my cap, which is always in the backgound, tells sag and scorp to stfu and be normal before she(cap) always side with scorp...just before sag comes barging in again and ruins everything. Bah! It's like cap and scorp, I can control, but sag...not so much. It's so weird.

Also thought about what you said in your first post in this thread about: "I've often felt like a Scorp man trapped inside a Cappy woman's body." I reacted to this as I have always identifued with the male scorp characteristics more than the female, don't ask me why or how. I hardly know the difference in characteristics between male and female scorps and it's not that I like male scorps more than I like female scorps either, it's just a feeling.

The differences outweigh the similarities, IMO

Just a whole plethora of things but what really sticks out in my mind is the way a Scorpio will focus on a subject with a curiosity that a Capricorn doesn't seem to possess. Caps seem relaxed, Scorps are tense.

:shrugs: It's hard to describe.

Caps have an integrating character. They build in little steps. Some impatient people might lable it as "difficult".

Scorp is radical. He/she may see the need for a destruction before they build something new.

I have lots of Caps and Scorps friends. Some of them consider me as family. Lots of respect I have for them. Life can throw them some mean curve balls and they both survive it all with steel determination.

Scorpios can spend days just brooding about the meaning of life or a relationship or ugly stuff that happens in life.

Capricorns are interested in it too but they are too social to go deep like that.

When I go to a club with my Capricorn friends, I see that they are all about talking or dancing with other people or making an impression. Scorpios, on the other hand, can just enjoy the night dancing all by themselves listening to the music, and feeling otherworldly feelings..

They are both very reliable, loyal signs. But they are very different !!! Scorpios are dark, secretive, go very deep, always analyze what cannot be seen right away, etc while Capricorns are always on the surface and feed off from what is real, the physical world.

Capricorns and Scorpios make good friends because they meet halfway and share their view of the world. Caps are serious enough to respect 'depth' and social enough to cheer up Scorps.
