So many stories of ridiculousness when interacting with randoms...
I'm getting on a flight back to Las Vegas.
It's assigned seating. I have a middle seat. This guy walks up, looks at me, smiles, starts to take his jacket off. So I ask him if he's sitting at the window, so I know if I need to get up and get out of his way or not.
He didn't answer, so... I ask him again. He smiles then points to the girl sitting across the aisle and says, "thats my girlfriend."
LOL! Sooo I guess these days when asked a yes or no question by the opposite sex, we need to answer with our relationship status?

We both saw it coming, we just didn't want to talk about it because a lot could happen in the meantime. When it became more clear to me I wanted to study the realization set in this would end...

But I'm glad things ended the way they did. We had a lot of fun but in the end busy schedules and diverging paths meant this was not enough to keep a real relationship going. Even if we did talk every day without fail we both didn't have enough time to see each other one or two nights a week... or we both simply didn't make enough time.

I'll probably cry about this later ;P

I'd probably feel sad and maybe like she was choosing sides and maybe being a little unfair. I guess it depends on the circumstances. So she wants to end a long friendship because of her friend's discomfort? I'd ask why is her friend uncomfortable, what's the deal w/ her? She just didn't talk to me for awhile, yet kept me on Skype.
She did say she didn't say to me outright was she was doing, was because she didn't want to seem against me. :/

My son's father (Scorp) found me via FB, tried to friend me, sent me a msg that his mother was dying, would like to know what our son looks like and would like to chat - I haven't spoken to the man in 22yrs!

Conundrums!

Part of me says fuck no, another part says he has a right.

As a side note, the last time my son saw his father was on his 4th birthday - he disappeared after that, I moved out of state the next year. Only memories my son has of his father are not positive and he still harbors ill feelings. So, I'm reluctant to tell him of his father trying to make contact.

If he wants something recent, tell him to ask your son.
Only negative I see is if your son wants to deal with him or not.

If not or you don't want him involved, high school or college pic will do.

for my son or I? When I say negative memories - he remembers his father duct taping him up at one point and also him beating his pregnant wife and the cops hauling him off for the assault. He was also a crack addict, so I was relieved when he disappeared although my son felt abandoned.

If your son is grown, then I would tell him and be flatly honest with him. Then your son can decide what to do. He may have grown up enough to at least be curious about his father, may want or need to confront him and get answers, may want to come to terms and get closure to the past.

So, yeah, I'd put the ball in his court.

@truecap, basically that is what I did. I asked my son today if he wants to talk to his father, my son: "Not really". I told him that his father had msg'd me on FB, my son: "I don't care". I let him know that his father wanted a picture, asked him if he wanted me to send the man one, my son: "Not really". Me: "Ok, I won't then" and that was that!

I think you did the right thing Lildol. At least your son can never accuse you of blocking the contact.

When you forgive then the thoughts no longer occupy your mind. I would like to free my mind.

You can forgive, but not forget. With abandonment issues, even if they came back, gave you money and tried to make up for lost time, it can't undo the pain you grew up with. The damage is done, the bond was lost. It can't be gotten easily, if at out.

Closure is more attainable though. Understanding that parents are still people that make mistakes and have flaws that cost them. Their failure to preform their duties as a parent cost them your love.
Costed them your laughs, tears, moments of pride and joy as well of moments of angst and despair.

They can't be the pillar in your life that should have been years ago. Though they can be involved in your life, if you want them in it. You don't have to let them in. Whatever you do with your relationship, is the price they'll have to pay. You hold the cards and the power, with them at your mercy, if they care.

I guess I could vent........ ugh he cant make his f**ckin mind up he wont say if he wants to stay but then if I leave he trys to throw things out there to blackmail me with so I wont go and reputation is on the line hes a student in a college im a staff member so if people find out everythin we've been doin my a** is on the line smh he sure knows how to make things difficult im a cap I normally put my feelings to the side and cutoff never has it been this hard

Had an interview today for a Senior Labor Market Analyst position compiling data at state and county levels for dissemination to the Fed Bureau of Labor Statistics. I would be THE person providing the Feds with my state's data. Love the title, would love to work in such a capacity, but the pay is on par w/ State and Fed positions which is quite low and they tell me is non-negotiable.
