sounds like a thinker! good on your kid. ๐

He's going to have a tough time coping by the time he turns 21 or 22 and graduates college.

As far as bumping heads with others just teach him what everyone should be taught which is respect others beliefs and others should respect his beliefs and leave it at that....

Posted by GoingNowhereSlowlySurely you mean you wouldn't want someone 'of faith' to bump heads with your son and end up making an enemy?
but hes very determined to prove what he believes is the truth, and i wouldn't him him to bump heads with someone who is of faith and end up making enemies.

I've noticed a lot of Gemini ppl are atheist

if it gets overbearing then he needs to somehow understand the idea of freedom of religion - there are books for everything

I will not be surprised when he will tell you he is going to seminary.
Does he explaining his 'deep thoughts' or it's just like kids screaming 'mom I hate you'?
Since I was a kid I was wondering what makes us move if we don't have batteries and not plugged into electric outlet.
There is the answer.?

I think I'd be a little disappointed in the fact that he's already come to that conclusion at such a young age.
Not because I want him to believe in a God, but because I find that people who have their minds made up about this topic are often narrow-minded.
I'd want my kid to recognize the possibility that there very well may be something (or things) out there that are larger than ourselves.
I'd want them to understand that just because our technology is not yet advanced enough to prove whether these things do or don't exist, doesn't mean we should completely write it off as impossible.
One of humanities biggest downfalls is the fact that we are so self righteous.
We struggle to view the world outside of the narrative that we've set for ourselves.

Speaking as a Gemini, I was vocal about my lack of faith in God from a young age as well.. Although I did not have a different belief at the time, I just didn't believe in God. As a child I used to attend church with my family and even at that young of an age I managed to ruffle the feathers of the heavily religious with the things that came out of my mouth. I didn't agree with things they would say, they just did not seem plausible to me or resonate with any sort of feeling with in myself.. Needless to say, we didn't continue to attend church for much longer.. Lolclick to expand

Same. I would point out completely incoherent stuff "teachers" taught us (8-9 y old kids) about god and they would yell at me as if I had done something wrong by using my brain. I think many people can't stand kids having opinions.
*I think this kid should learn to be open minded and respectful, but having critical thinking skills is wonderful.

To me, self righteousness comes from ignorance and too strict a religious upbringing - IOW "my way is right and the only way because that is all I know" - which in turn IMHO comes from being uneducated and sheltered so to speak - so many people don't step outside their box to see the rest of the world and all it's wonders. If they did, their mind might open and not only be blown but they will come to realize just how small we really are individually and as a collective for that matter. It's humbling.

I would guide him to be spiritual, not religious (because he doesn't believe in God). He will need an outlet, so encourage him to find what he believes in (not what he doesn't believe in).
And remember to teach him the importance of "it doesn't matter what people believe in, what matters is how *you* treat others."
And to remember he is not you...he has a right to his own thoughts
My bible bashing mother sent me running in the opposite direction. Sure way to cause rebellion. Indoctrination will do the job well

Too young to really worry at this point. It's good though that he has a mind of his own(: that means he wont listen to what anyone tells him and goes with how he feels. He's his own person, which is a good thing. If you wish for him to believe in God, dont force it on him. Just teach him what you can about God, and you had done your part, cause at the end of the day when he gets older he's going to believe what he wants and pushing religion on him , in my belief, is just going to push him away.
That happened to me and many others ... Well meaning but overbearing parents trying to enforce their reality on their children
Rarely works

Just expose him to as many religions and cultures as possible. It'll teach him to be open minded and accepting of all peoples.

This new generation has brains and they're mature like adults...Pluto in Cap and such.

in the belief department an individual changes skin several time in a life time. some find and lose God again.
