I was on cerazette which put me so deep into depression that I am still struggling with it and also made me put on 3 stone which I have luckily lost most of since coming off it. but I love the Yasmin pill that I am on now. I dont need to be on it since im celebate but it has really helped with my mood, has a natural dieretic in it so stops me being bloated during my period and also made my skin look amazing, I love it so much I should be a slaes rep for it haha.

well aside all internet bullsht and rumors, and not that i care what you do to yourselves, but i know two people who were on birthcontroll, one is probably in her late 30's, she was on the pill for years because they apparently with her husband were too busy with their business, ended up adopting a kid from a foster house because she couldn't get pregnant after, another girl i know we went to highschool together, we are like best friends so she tells me everything, when she got on the pill she started getting headaches, started to look like crap, gained weight, started to look older, always felt really really ill, had fevers.. and for what? for sex without a condom? please... so i screamed at her she stayed on that for one more month then stopped, i asked her recently whether she was on a pill she said never again, so unless you are a wh0r3 and dont comprehend who, how, and when is fukcing you, dont take it because its not worth it.. yes its different for everyone but let me tell you something, it slows down your reproductive system, carelessly - you can slow it down beyond the point of return and will basically get a meta-pause, dont be fukcing stupid its not worth the risks, but do whatever you want its "your bodies"

excuse me? first of, I am a pre-med student, so even though I'm a guy I'm sure I know much more about this stuff than you do, secondly, this isn't the case where I would say that I'm always right, that's why I said that it varies, and FYI, I never said that birth control was "always about 'sex without a condom,'" though, whoever is using it for other reasons should be even more ignorant, oh and finally, I'm just throwing some facts and you decide whether you wanna use them or not, frankly, I don't give a danm, but if I were you I wouldn't be so stubborn and would take the facts to consideration because if you carefully observed me you would know that I never lied or said anything that I wasn't sure was true.

I have two children (7 yrs apart and it would have been non if I knew what I know now) and am a strong believer in pro-choice by any means necessary. I've tried birth control twice each time after I had them, and each time they put me in the hospital for not being able to breathe after a week of taking them. Immediately, after stopping within three days back to normal. Personally, not a big fan. But for others to each it's own and whatever you have to do to keep from bringing a soul that's not wanted into this already fucked up world.

omfg save me from those health major people!!!!!!!! ITS NOT A SCIENCE, ITS A MAJOR WHERE THEY TEACH YOU TO READ "LEGITIMATE" ARTICLES AND MAGAZINES THAT ARE MANIPULATED BY CORPORATIONS, MEANING ARTICLES THAT HAVE BEEN REVIEWED BY MD'S OR SCIENTISTS AND AFTER THAT WERE REVIEWED BY MAJOR CORPORATIONS, how can you health ppl be so ignorant?! i can give you phone numbers to my friends who took the health class with me last semester ask them how many times i embarrassed our professor, she was in her 45's, she didn't know half the things i asked her, and when i stated a fact or added something unusual or against what she believed was right she was stoned and didn't know what to answer, because u didnt even complete your education i can safely assume you didnt get any further than my professor, i stated two examples of people who i know who used it, and both of them had problems, and i said its just a fact you decide what to do with it, how was is sexist? are you retarded? information i presented was a pure fact nothing more and nothing less please read more carefully next time. It got autocorrected by my iphone dont catch up to my wording u very well understood what i meant. How about you learn how body really works then give a derived explanation?

thats what i meant that pill is unpredictable, for majority it will give bad side effects, for minority it will work just fine, this is a kind of drug that has to be engineered for people individually depending on at least their weight and age, from what i know girls in despair or stupidity just go to a drugstore get whatever their girlfriend told them to get and you know the rest... Other drugs at least are synthesized to get you better, but slowing down ur reproductive system is really for desperate/ignorant people.

PS health major is the most useless major ever, i have a feeling its a part of "women's rights (feminists) movement" where tehy are all about providing you with nothing but how to have a safe sex and how to be a whore and not die, i bet its you who put posters all over the train saying "condom and a birthcontrol will not only protect you from unwanted pregnancy, but will also protect you from unwanted diseases(as if there are wanted diseases) like HIV. (then lowercase - condoms dont guarantee full protection) and little kids are reading those and are getting exposed to all this kinds of crap and then you wonder why they have sex so early, maybe you should be more conservative about it

LOL at how this topic has gone KOA you sound very arogant. You are not a woman, you do not know womens bodies. Most women can feel if someting isnt right and Know when to come off/switch birth control. I have been on birth control since I was 14 and no not because im a ho because or because I dont want to use a condom but beause I used to have long painful periods. Yes it took me trying out over 5 5 different types till I found the one that worked well with me but the pill I am on now works perfect for me and the only side effects are positive ones. The two people you know who it didnt work out for is nothing compared to the over 20 people I know who are on various different types of BC who it works great for.

There isalso no conclusive prrof that it effects fertility. As mentioned I have been on birth control for almost 10 years and at one point I actually fell pregnant on the pill so it seems i'm still pretty fertile and many of my friends got pregnant in th first month of trying after coming o the pill.

Couldnt care less what your "education is" unless you are a certified health professional (which you are not) then I will take your advise with a pinch of salt. I'll stick to what my Doctor tells me thanks, since after all he is the one in the know 🙂

Once again I think this could be something thats different in America compared to the UK. When I was at school I would say over 50% of the girls were on BC. A few put on weight, some had anger issues, some depression etc and guess what? they switched pills and were fine!

"from what i know girls in despair or stupidity just go to a drugstore get whatever their girlfriend told them to get and you know the rest... "

WTF?! so in america you just go to the shop and buy your BC with your morning newspaper— In the UK you have a consultation with a doctor/nurse they check your family history and reccomend what pill would be best for you to start on, then check on you after a couple of months to see how its doing, check your weight, blood pressure, mood etc and if it seems to be havng negative effects they change it. They couldnt care less what your friends recommended you to have, they give you what they think is best.

well there are no proof if it affects fertility but use your common sense, its like target heart rate, if you do it properly your heart wont fail, if you overstress it (overdose in BP case) the heart will fail and you will get a heart-attack, switching and trying out the pills that will suit you more is a very smart choise, and I never heard that girls did it here, my friend was for a couple of years on the same pills and it was just terrible for her.. medicine gets better and more advanced, maybe now there are less risks, but its something i wouldn't risk doing.. 10 years? that woman was on the pill for 10 years as well, I hope it goes better for you

and i know how a wommens' bodies work -_-

Well I left off the morning after pill because I thought we were discussing BC pills. In the UK the morning after pill falls under a completely different catorgory - Emergency contraception and is not something that should be taken regularly and are taught that it IS NOT a form of contraception but only to be used in emergencies eg condom breaking, missed a pill or was sick after taking a pill. I personally have had the morning after pill 3 times in my life and it was just to be on the safe side as I had taen a BC pill late. I havnt heard of anyone taking the morning after pill on a regular basis, maybe its just that I dont hang around with irresponsible people?

OMG are you guys for real about this rhytm method— My catholic auntie uses this and I have 1 planned and two "mistake" cousins because of it. YOU CAN GET PREGNANT AT ANY TIME DURING YOUR CYCLE. Sperm lives for roughly 2-7 days depending on the guy and your "inside environment" so would make sense to not do it a few days before ovulation as well as after. Most people who use the rythmn method usually take a week out from sex not a day as it takes the sperm over a day to reach the egg. I did Biology A-level essay on this subject, which was marked as correct, so correct me if I am wrong, but I am not. If people want to use this method it is up to them but I would never go round shouting from the rooftops about it being completely safe. It's a good alternative for people who want to be natural, but it is very high risk. Obviously its up to the individual which they would rather risk: Health complications from taking a pill, or child birth. I do no want a child and would never have an abortion so I choose the pill as that is the lowest risk of child birth apart from abstaining. But as I always say "each to their own"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar-based_contraceptive_methods#Types_and_effectiveness

Rhythm method (Knaus—Ogino method)To find the estimated length of the pre-ovulatory infertile phase, nineteen (19) is subtracted from the length of the woman's shortest cycle. To find the estimated start of the post-ovulatory infertile phase, ten (10) is subtracted from the length of the woman's longest cycle.[17] A woman whose menstrual cycles ranged in length from 30 to 36 days would be estimated to be infertile for the first 11 days of her cycle (30-19=11), to be fertile on days 12-25, and to resume infertility on day 26 (36-10=26). When used to avoid pregnancy, the rhythm method has a perfect-use failure rate of up to 9% per year.[16]

[edit] Standard Days MethodDeveloped by Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health, the Standard Days Method has a simpler rule set and is more effective than the rhythm method.[16][18] A product, called CycleBeads, was developed alongside the method to help the user keep track of estimated high and low fertility points during her menstrual cycle. The Standard Days Method may only be used by women whose cycles are always between 26 and 32 days in length. In this system:

Days 1-7 of a woman's menstrual cycle are considered infertile
Days 8-19 are considered fertile; considered unsafe for unprotected intercourse
From Day 20, infertility is considered to resume
When used to avoid pregnancy, the Standard Days Method has a perfect-use failure rate of 5% per year

Just a bit of supporting evidence for you all 🙂 and see how the % are with PERFECT-USE. this isnt with little mistakes made, following it PERFECTLY there is still a 9% and 5% chance(depending on method)of getting pregnant and theres no way I would be going that many days without sex 😛

Yep definately not for me!! It's fine if other people want to use it but they really should be giving out the correct information to people if they want to advise them about how great it is! theres a big difference between not doing it for 1 day (incorrect information!!!) compared to going up to two weeks ( depending on your cycle). I'm shocked that someone who claims to use this method knows nothing about it— And obviously you would have to have clock work periods to be able to use it, personally for me all it takes is a bit of stress for mine to go out of sync or if I hang out with another woman to much I sync up with her and that complicates everything.

Also all this talk about self control, I personally like to get lost in the moment with the guy during sex, I dont want to have to be worrying that the guy remembers to pull out in time, would definately ruin the experience for me.

Like I said if it works for others fine but please research the method before using it! Or get a doctor to write up a correct chart for you.

the point here is that you were saying its only one day you go without sex with the rhythm method which was INCORRECT. i dont give a shit what method you use i just feel it neccessary to let others no CORRECT information. If i want to use the pill its my business and my risk so gem keep your stupid comments about my sex life to yourself. im not going to stoop as low as you and make bullshit assumptions about your private life. @elle i know the risk it is my choice to take them just as it your choice not to. every medication has a horrorr story some people die from paracetamol everyones different. i am mot misinformed, i made an informed decision to take the pill.

@love bucket yes I agree different things work for differnt people. But what I do disagre with is that someetimes you CAN blame the method. The pill (well the one I am on) is 99.9% effective, with PERFECT use one woman in every 1000 will get pregnant same as with rythmn method there is a 5-9% chance with PERFECT use, so sometimes you can do everything right and still end up pregnant, its unfortunate but it happens. Obviously people who miss pills/only withdraw when they feel like it/get the rhythm method wrong, have a higher risk of getting pregnant and cant blame the method.

If you read what I wrote properly you would see that I am referring to the comments you made about by SEX life not about my contraception which were stupid. And maybe you should go and research yor own method before you try and educate me on mine. I will never heed your words, I can take responsibilty for my actions, im not sitting here saying "enjoy all the unplanned pregnancies" am I? No because unlike you I am not petty, seriously grow the hell up.

"@Libra Sun: Were talking about women that dont fuck everday I guess....you just have to have sex 24/7...your in a category all by yourself...even when I was your age my bf didnt get the goodies anytime he wanted....its good to make a man want. Keeps the pussy tighter to....."

I stated I dont want to go 2 weeks without sex every month and from that you gave me that response - that is your stupid bullshit assumptions, I never said you called me stupid, once again read posts properly! That is not putting my sex life out there.

I do not want children which is why I am on the pill!! So to me it would be UNLUCKY if I got pregnant.

So I was right, I didnt call you stupid. And "you guys" states that I am openly talking to everyone so I dont see why you have took this so personal. I never said gem is stupid, gem is ranting, gem anything else, until I personally addressed you to correct your assumptions. And if you call giving people correct information pompous and arogant then I find that a little bit strange. I put down the information for those who wish to follow it so they can make an informad decision, as like I said each to their own.

The comment was stupid as it was incorrect, if you want to take that as you being called stupid then thats up to you, but that is not what I said.If I wanted to call ou stupid I would have. The debate here is not about the method, I dont think anyone on this thread has told anyone to stop using it, infact most have been pretty supportive of it. Everyone has pretty much said that it is up to the person what they choose to use. I stated the % for my pill aswel as the % for the rhythmn method. The only reason for the "heat" which is only coming from you as no one else seems to have hurled out insults (pompous, arogant) is because you were annoyed on being corrected.

Actually, the Gemini is stupid ... and proves it daily. she proved it in here when she didn't know that a woman can be fertile at any time, so the Rythym method isn't accurate. She had to be told that .. as she bragged about knowing all at her ripe age.

And that KOA Boy is pretty stupid also ... did he actually state that he knows more than a woman about a female body?

Not....I was annoyed with your attitude from post one.....the tone was not coming from a place of positive interaction...it was coming from arrogance.

I get corrected all the time....but thanks just the same for the information.

Like I said before your opening line set that tone.

Nothing arrogant in my tone, it was an expression of shock. Nothing negative, only informative. Anyway I could sit here all day and explain it, but then you would just change it to be about something else, twist my words, or throw more insults like you have in every other of your posts. I have nothing more to say to you on the subject. I have stated my opinion and defended assumptions made about me so I am done. You may have the last word if you wish 🙂
