And alot of it too 😢

I love love love love love love!! Rice. I have eat it for:

Breakfast -- Brown Rice mixed with Cinnamon
or cereal with rice milk

Snack -- None-Fat buttered rice

or a rice-based energy bar

Lunch -- something with rice and fruit

Dinner -- something with rice and gravy

I don't do it every single day ... I try not too but I love rice ...

And it's not always brown rice -- it has a grainie taste to it and it's ok sometimes. But I like white rice, lots of it :/

I know white rice is bleached and what not but I'm starting to think their really isn't a different between the rices -- they are both heavy carbs.

I've been watching my carb intake for a while but OMG, if only I can' watch my carb intake and eat as much rice as I want, that would be wonderful.

Does it really make you gain that much weight or is it the candies and the cakes and the soda pops ? :O

Me too! But not pilaf. I like white rice mostly. Lazy meal = white rice with soy sauce + lemon juice.

At someone's house once, I was getting some rice from the ricecooker (I do that...see, no shame) and when I saw a bunch of brown rice in there, I thought, "Ewww, you heathen, you let your rice rot!" But it was just normal brown rice--I had never really seen it before!

I know of some people who cut rice out of their diet for a while and they did say that they lost weight.

I saw alot of brown rice when I was leaving with this dude until recently. He was really into trying to stay in shape so there was like no white rice in sight :/ I'm not sure if it helped him keep in shape or what but OMG I just love non-brown rice lol

pilaf is ... ok lol

Yeah, I'm not too sure either. Maybe it's similar to the benefits of wheat vs. white with bread.

Those rice crakcers!! Once i was on the bus and i saw this little girl eating those rice crackers with white stripes on them. I was like those look hella good, but where on earth do they come from?? Since i'm well smart i put too and too together and was like she's a cute little Chinese/Oriental girl so obvo they're from Chinatown! Went to Chinatown and lo and behold there they were! Couldn't get them though cause they're made from pig. And I'm trying to limit my intake of pig to salami and bacon rashers.

The place I used to go to for rice crackers was this small market and I always felt like I was practically buying out their entire stock. Mein rice kracker!

Also, I like rice paper--the kind at Korean restaurants.

This stuff...

Oh, I know! You go in there and will have a field day just buying stuff because it's no where in the other grocery stores and what not. AND the products are cheap, not really that expensive 😄

I may have had rice paper many moons ago ^_^. I cannot remember the taste but I think I put fruit in it.

Oh mein Gott, schwein in mein rice kracker?!

What a dilemma! Personally, I think I'm going with rice crackers and salami (I love salami!).

Whenever I make rice, I like to boil it in milk until it's all evaporated which leaves this sweet film on the rice, be careful not to burn anything though. You gotta try it!

Oh that sounds interesting! I've heard of cooking it normally with water, but then wrapping it up in a banana leaf for a while and this supposedly gives it a different kind of taste too.

I don't like sneakiness. When i eat salami, i think superb i'm getting what i see, i.e. a meat product(of sorts). When i eat Rowntrees fruit gums i'm eating what i think is a sweet made from the luscious berries of the oran-ga-tang forest but am shocked later to find it's got pig in it. Not a happy customer.

That's understandable about wanting integrity.

lol @ "luscious berries..." That sounded like it was from a commercial so I looked it up and found this video. The boy's got a gunsling! I guess killers can have an innocent side too.

Rice is definitely my comfort food. I don't usually eat it often though. Here is one interesting rice sweet dish that is very common to my culture. Its called pitha. Its basically a layer of grounded sticky rice that is roasted on a hot pan like a pancake with sesame filling.

These sound a little bit like sesame rice balls.

But the rice balls have red bean paste inside and they're fried--sometimes they ooze oil when you bite into them!

Im not as into rice as you guys seem to be but as your trying to cut down your carbs, have you tried riced cauliflower? sounds weird but I have been on atkins and its a great alternative to rice, similar texture with a fraction of the carbs 🙂

I've heard of something similar with squash as a substitute for pasta. I think you cook the squash and then scrape a fork across the inside to make it spaghetti-like.

Ahhh--morningmist, calthrope--those put me over the edge. I think I need to slow down and take a break from this thread. It's just too much for me now.

Actually, there's a dessert dish similar to tangyuan that I really like--it has the rice balls, but also jackfruit and taro or purple sweet potato in it. I haven't had it in so long, though! I'm suddenly aware of a void in my life--a void that I must fill with glutinous rice balls.
