I want to bring one into our guest bedroom/office cause rn its just my home office aka flex space and we drag out the blow up mattress anytime someone stays over.

Not the most elegant solution...

And with my sister and baby nephew visiting at the end of the month, my mom coming by more frequently, I want the space to be a bit more comfortable. My drunk friends dgaf about crashing on a blow up mattress, bit more difficult on a nursing mother. Ok so I do give up my master suite when they visit but I'd like to not haha.

So curious if anyone has or had a murphy bed before?

Looking at double/full mattress size atm...

I haven't. But I just Googled it and they are cool as hell. It's like in a trailer where your toilet is also your shower.

Lol no need for a built in toilet...we got a hall bathroom just for this room.

But yeah, they seem really cool.

And my friends cousin has a custom furniture shop and said he'd whip me up something nice. Thinking of doing a open shelf bookcase on one side for some additional storage.

That looks really cool and practical 👍

Right?!

I don't see clients at my home office, but clutter really messes with my productivity. Love the idea of lifting the bed in one easy motion and keeping the room open and clean when I'm working. Which isn't really that often... a hour or 2 a day. But maybe it would be longer if I got my shit together haha 😅

I had one in my apartment in So Cal and I LOVED it lol. Besides feeling like I was on the Muppets for some reason, it was a smart solution to a small space. Mine was actually all mirrored on the other side which made the space feel even bigger. It was a queen and I still love murphy beds haha. I had beds that pulled out from the wall like a big drawer when I was a kid so it made me feel very nostalgic!

They are ok if you have no other choice. I find it would be a hassle overall. It takes less time to make a bed then to put all the blankets away and put the whole bed away.

Personally I prefer to have an entire guest room separate but as I said if space doesn’t allow, then there is really no other option!

My house is five bedrooms and a main floor office but there are four kids and I need the office and don’t let anyone sleep or go in there ever. There is even a lock on the door. I usually just give up my own bedroom since it has an ensuite bathroom and I sleep with my oldest daughter even though she whines and bitches about it. I think it’s funny and I even make her cuddle with me. She hates it hahahahah

Shoot, wish I had 5 bedrooms. Those houses go for several mill/6-10k per month in my neighborhood. Lol not quite on that level yet.

We are in a 3bd 3ba. 2 bedrooms have en-suites and this 3rd bedroom is the smallest and has the hall bath so we are using it as the office primarily.

It takes WAY MORE TIME putting the blowup mattress up, getting the air in, making the bed, and then tearing down after the guest leaves. Would prefer to just make the bed and lift it back up into the wall instead.

And I could see myself utilizing it in the future as long as I get solid wood/metal construction... no particle board pls.

Mirrors! Sounds pricey.

Was it a hassle to deal with at all? Or easy peasy. Anything I should know/look for when selecting one?

If you have anything besides tile under those legs......it will be destroyed within a year.

We have a wood look tile. Think itll still cause damage?

I suppose I could put out a large rug in the room to help soften the weight.

Is it printed tile? If it’s printed then it’ll definitely rub it off. I would put some of those felt pads under the legs

I'm not sure, but felt pads is a good idea. Its a rental and I want my deposit back when I move on.

Solid wood construction, oak with a dark walnut stain. Haven't posted pics since its been in use so often since it came.

Ended up doing a queen size with built in head board and overhead lighting, with bi- fold doors on the bookcase.

I ended up going with a local socal company, Wilding Wallbeds. Really pleased with how it turned out. Room is fairly compact so its a great use of space to have it function as both office and guest bed.

Yes, girl, do it. Really fkn cool.

Everyone spend more money. Fuck it! I'm going to target!!!!! Said I wouldn't but now I'm bursting after this thread.

Haha someone should do a 'what are you spending money on black friday/cyber monday' thread. I got about 3-4k I'm planning to spend on computers for the actual office (company card obvs). But I've also been tracking some vintage gems on etsy I'm hoping get that black friday sale treatment. Tis the season!

Ps that little desk is a target find.
