Nah. I got in the water a bit though. I had my laptop, a book, and my towel so I didn't feel like dragging my board out.

ohh that sounds like heaven 🙂 that's how I party at the beach or at the pool - a laptop, a book and a cocktail LOL 🙂 (well sometimes coffee if I am in the mood)So I am a big fan of blackjack, but I never invest a lot. Its a good challenge to make money out of nothing. The first night I invested $ 50 which I lost within 15 mins lol. The 2nd night I invested only $ 20 and made $ 140 🙂 while playing for 2 hours and met some great people at the table. I hate slots :/. I want to learn crabs. I just hear people screaming and it looks exciting 🙂. Do you gamble sometimes?

That's exactly it too. Just take a seat, get your drink, and try to make something out of nothing. Blackjack's kind of my "Time to just chill in the casino game". Still dinking around, still enjoying tasty beverages, and all your friends are jumping from table to table.
Now CRAPS...
Craps is a RUSH! You get on that roll and you're riding it as hard as you can. The hard part is knowing when to stop and walk away. You can be down $ 800 in craps only to make it back and now up $ 800 in minutes. Plus if there's a bunch of you on that ride at the same table, everyone's just hooting and hollering sharing the energy.
Next time you go up, almost every hotel runs a "tutorial hour" where people interested in learning can come down to the floor and they'll teach you how to play. You figure they're banking on you "trying" it out later that night with real money so they'll get their cut in the end.
Now the game that I love playing but am scared shitless to play in vegas... POKER.
Mainly because you're against others, not the house.

My first poker table in vegas:
Got to the casino and finally committed to trying a few hands. After warming up at the bar with a few shots of liquid courage, I walk to my first poker table. The dealer smiles, nods, and gives a welcoming gesture to take a seat. Being the grinning newbie, I acknowledge all the players with a smile and take my chair. My first read of the players noted nothing extraordinary about them. The one person I did notice was a little, old lady. Cards in one hand while her other hand exchanged holding a smoke and a glass of whatever choice hard liquor she was enjoying. We will call her "Grandma".
While not being unfriendly, the atmosphere of the table was FAR different than just playing with "my buds" on the home front. As poker strategy dictates, everyone was playing their hands with their style adapting to how other's presented themselves. Everyone waiting patiently to make a big power play to plunder as many chips as possible from the others. While I came with the fantasy of making out like the movie "Rounders", reality was I hoping to dear God I wasn't going to walk away broke and shirtless. The night progressed until finally one of the other guys started hitting a decent streak, raking in our chips. Not unexpected but he started coping an attitude glazed with overconfidence. Apparently Grandma didn't take too kindly to it. The peace has been broken and grandma decided it was time to put the young whipper snapper in his place. While the next hour for me was a series of "umm...I fold", grandma proceeded to drop the smack down on the young upstart, beating him into submission, the finality signified by his departure from the table.
Lesson learned that day: "Don't fuck with grandma in Vegas"

Leebs, this brings up a good question from your post.
Which do you like better? Victoria or Fredrick's?
I've dated someone that swore up and down Fredick's was "FOR SLUTS!"
Others who thought their quality was better than Victoria's.
I must be one of those boring lads, only ever hit up blackjack or poker at a casino or the pokies (You guys call them slots?) lol. I feel bad even putting a dollar into the pokies machine definitely not a gambler 😛

Oh I was pathetic. After grandma claimed the blood of the upstart, psychologically my mind was saying "dude, be nice to grandma!", so I was out the door shortly after.
Btw poker also scares me. I know the rules and I played with guys many times (with some small money) but going into that super packed room with who knows how many pros really freakes me out. It looks like those people are pulling all nighters 🙂.
Ya, for sure! The atmosphere is SOO different from just playing with your buds. Its the first thing you need to overcome. It's why I ended up having to grab a few drinks before even attempting it lol.

Depends on the table. You can find a lot of friendly Limit Texas Hold'em tables with min bids of $ 5- $ 10.
If you can muster the courage to at least try it (This may require some tequila 😛), its worth the experience ALONE just to say you did. For me, had I not tried, I wouldn't have come out with the cool ass grandma story so it was absolutely worth it.

Aww man, Noz! Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes being at the tables is just about chilling and enjoying the free drinks. I've had nights like that.
Part of Vegas is just taking that risk, for better or worse, and if you're lucky you'll end up with a story to tell 😄

So a test question V:what would you do if you get 2 aces and the dealer gets between 7-10?
Okay so I'm playing Blackjack and I'm dealt 2 aces? SPLIT! SPLIT IN A HEARTBEAT.
The probability of you getting a 10 for your next card is higher than anything else, thus splitting the Ace's may gave you two plays of 21 😄
(If you can even remotely count cards and know how many decks are being played at any given time, just keep track of the 10's to play the odds)
General Rules when it comes to Splitting:
1. Never split a winning hand
2. Generally speaking, never split 10's and 5's. Always split Ace's and 8's.
THE ONE CAVEAT: If the dealer's hot, all bets are off. Leave the table if you must.
