I just saw women crucify this guy in the comments section of a post on a popular blog on Instagram. The guy referred to another male’s behavior by saying “he’s such a female”.

Well, women didn’t like this one bit. Women immediately asked “What’s wrong with acting like a woman” or “You say that as if being a woman is an insult”.

I just found the entire exchange bizarre because there were women leaving comments saying the same thing that the guy and I’ve seen many women call out unfavorable traits in a guy as him “acting like a woman”.

Any thoughts on this.

American society has essentially told the male gender, that they are suppose to act a certain way. They are not allowed to have feelings, or showcase them. If they don't act the way American society deems appropriate, then they are "feminine".

Yes and in some cases, like my mom, she raised me and my brother to be stoical and not express emotions. I think it’s worse I’m my community, the black community. A lot of single moms, like mine, raise their sons to portray hyper masculine traits. Anything less than and the guy is “acting like a female”, I’ve seen this a lot. Maybe gender norms are being redefined and I’m unaware.

It's like calling a man a "pussy".

Pussies are tough and resilient. They can push out babies the size of watermelons and can take a pounding.

Lol 😂 my main concern is do women not realize they insult womanhood by doing so.. maybe I’m looking too deeply.

No, you're right. It's still semi-acceptable to insult a man by suggesting feminine qualities. Even by women.

Sexism towards men by women is an ongoing issue. Whether it be blatant or subtle. Hell, you even see it on here, with how some women will post, and assume that a man doesn't get hurt by the woman's actions and act accordingly.

Its always been offensive. Our society is just more open about it cause social media puts everyones internal thoughts out there.

Thats like saying police brutality towards black people is new. Naw thats been happening since the forever here. Only thing thats new is that everyone has a cell phone with a camera and can capture and post the proof.

Technology has changed. People are the same.

Yeh you are right! With being able to spread words/thoughts/ideas/anger even more nowadays people feel the urge to just blast out everything that‘s on their mind. No matter if its thoughtful or just nonsense

I get told I'm a tomboy and I never really put much thought into it and would even call myself one but you just made me realise how stupid it is. I guess we have these stereotypes of what a girl is and what a boy is, based on the way they behave or dress. Society is challenging those roles so girls are falling into the boy stereotype category and boys are falling into the girly one, metrosexual for another word that implies the same thing. I don't think either should be seen as offensive even though it kind of is. In astrology we have female and masculine signs and it seems ok in that context. This is a tough topic to fully grasp. There's so many sides and interpretations into it. I know it's said in a derogatory way but I think it will eventually fade out as society evolves into something else once Instagram is dead
