Posted by METANOIANo bias, but a "pattern" behind certain names is undeniable.
no that seems dumb

Posted by DamnataI love your full name, Paula the Koala
No bias.
But I have this thing where people with the same name...have a simillar vibe to me,
I also have two male friends whom I cannot call by their name because their face expresses a different name to me. One of them told me everyone uses the same name I imagined for him...and he has no idea why.
With my first name, all the women I know with that name are fire moons lol.
With my middle name, I barely meet any with it...despite being way more common.
And my last name...well that's just lionhearted.

Posted by elllesqueYou're tough, it makes perfect sense.
My name is traditionally a man's name.

Posted by elllesqueWhy are you lying, Paul?Posted by FrenchKpricornno 🙂Posted by elllesquePaul/Camille ?
My name is traditionally a man's name.
I hated it throughout my childhood. Endured a lot of teasing.
However, now it comes in handy......
The look on some people's face when I enter a room.....and they are expecting a man simply based on my name.
Priceless entertainment. 😄click to expand

Posted by elllesqueMy only solace in this life is that I realized you can pronounce my name in English if you join two animals from the jungle book and change the first consonant. But at least it sounds like it should.Posted by DamnataI was actually named after my father but it was spelled like a female tv character my mother liked (she's a gemini 😛)Posted by elllesquein all fairness i only heard the diminutive of your name before used for a man.Posted by engagement_hotdoglol...nopePosted by elllesquesteve?

My mother tried to spell it so it was girly but that didn't hep much.
I even dropped the 'E" to make it even more girly and that didn't help either.....and eventually just looked juvenile as I got older.....so, I changed it back.click to expand

Certain names just repeat themselves and every time they do you get a similar vibe from people who have them.
No bias again but It's also very common to like someone because of their name, you always look them with a different eye if you like how they're named, which is why I'm assuming there must be something dark behind every name.click to expand

Posted by RumiLoveI went through a B phase. 😛
My name is a little rare in my country(official name) and..obviously, i always get curious, even my mom. Once I tried to befriend a girl because she had mom's name :/
There's another name ..i like and, its a name for both boys and girls, my eyes brighten up when I hear it and I do observe them.
I'm not conscious of it but.. It happens automatically haha. Ofcourse I dont judge anyone but I guess they're sentiments.
ALSO, it sounds silly but most of the guys I crushed hard on had names starting with "K" .. :-)

Posted by elllesqueMy BFF's names are Drew and micah. They're both girls 😄

Oh and dominique i hate when ppl confuse dominique with a boy because the masculine version is dominic or dominick its like whyyyyy dominique is promounced dom onique monique why name boy that..jeesh stick to make version...i guess jordan is masculine and feminine so hey

Posted by PalerioI agree about names having meaning.
That's exactly why I think it's the name itself that projects certain characteristics, you don't need to actually meet someone to get an idea. For instance I've never met neither a Tudor nor Victor but they both give me a similar regal vibe, I could easily imagine them being kings with those names, I can't tell you why.
For instance my name means "healthy/in great shape" and I've never caught a grippe once in my life. My surname means "traveller" and I'm an errant soul who lived in 8 different houses in 25 years (same city) with the constant urge to change place every two because I don't feel right not moving.
Do you think it's a coincidence Adolf means "noble wolf" in old German?
I can't put it logically but there's something we're missing. We all unconsciously try to live up to the name we're given when we're born.

Posted by engagement_hotdogI picked a pen.Posted by Damnatawould you pick DAMNATA? 😛
It would be really cool if we didn't have any first names and we could pick ours.
There is a ritual here with objects after the baptism, I think other countries have it too.
You put a lot of objects on a table and see which one the baby goes for. Would be cool to have that with names.click to expand

Posted by justagirlWait for the thread "what sign has the tightest justagirl" 😛
Mine is a flower.... Never had it confused thankfully!
My bro and sis have super common names. Both have been mentioned already, also when my dad got remariired, i then had a step sister and brother of those names.
so we had 2- michelles and 2 michaels. hahahah
I don' t really have any bias towards names, at least i do not think i do.

Posted by PalerioI wonder this as well. It's a lot of pressure and that pressure makes sense since I am also a Virgo.

Posted by CopperDoveI think the name was really popular around the time I was born or something. I've met a few around my age and can't help but feel a little stupid whenever I have to address them because it's my name too. I'm sure other people with even more popular names feel the same way.
I have very good associations, thanks to past experiences, with the male name Jason.
I know not to trust that everyone with the name Jason is like the Jasons I've known, but my immediate reaction to the name is positive. At one time I had a list of male and female names ready in case I ever had children, and Jason was on the male list.

Posted by AmandusIt was definitely a popular name around the time that I was born (1970s). Interesting that you've noticed that people have positive association with the name, so it isn't just me. It's a pretty cool name meaning. haha, yes, another Jason with Jason Mraz. I looked him up and read that he was born in the late 70s.Posted by CopperDoveI think the name was really popular around the time I was born or something. I have indeed noticed that Jasons tend to be treated with positivity from others. Perhaps this is so because the supposed destiny for those given this name is, "to heal", whether it is others or themselves and it seems people can feel that.
"Our name is our virtue", as the lyrics to a popular song says. Bet you can guess who sang them. 😉click to expand

I know this is an "astrology" board, but there's so much pigeon-holing based on signs, I figure it must exist in other areas of life too..
So - when you meet new people with a certain name, does it colour your initial impression of them based on past experiences with people of the same name?
