The ability to transfer fiat to exchanges has become so difficult.

Many countries have their banks denying them any method of transfer for 'security' of your fiat.

Mastercard has banned me..

I wish i dumped 30000 to USDT way back before the crackdown mid 2023.

So that poor people can't buy it easily, more cheap BTC for the rich who own the banks making it hard for you.

You're still too dumb to know what you're talking about. I might take you seriously if you actually gave some valid reasons other repeating boomer talking points that lost any merit long ago. Look at the rate of adoption or any of the metrics and info provided here. You obviously haven't researched any of this so offering an uninformed opinion isn't really worth much. Don't worry, I'll be here to remind you.

Don't underestimate the naivety.

"where do these young people go when they want advice on their investments? Social media, of course. TikTok is full of fast-talking finance gurus squinting at trading charts while rattling off jargon; amateur investors coalesce around YouTube communities or pay to enter private Discord groups, where “signals” on which stocks they should invest in are traded.

Virtually none of these communities or content creators adheres to FCA guidance around the giving of financial advice. “There are a lot of fools on a lot of apps talking nonsense,” says Poku Banks. "

This describes the dark side of crypto to a T

“It starts out as a sociable thing,” Marini says. “People brag about making money with their friends. But you never hear when people start losing money, because of the guilt and the shame.” Marini recently treated a man who lost £1.5m on cryptocurrencies that he embezzled from his company. Another former patient lost nearly £2m. “I know crypto guys whose partners try to take their phones away from them, and they start shaking,” he says. “It’s withdrawal. They cannot not have their phones in front of them.”

The volatility of cryptocurrencies fuels addictive behaviour in a way that regular stock market trading does not. “Because it goes up and down so much, it releases endorphins, and acts as an emotional trigger,” Marini says.

When investors’ cryptocurrencies are doing well, they get into what Marini terms a “winning stage”. “The fantasies start: I’ll pay off my mortgage, buy a bigger house, be able to help my family and friends.” Often, they invest more money, getting into debt. “Then they start losing money,” he says. “The isolation starts. They start lying. They can’t stop gambling, so they borrow more, or do something illegal. They stop paying household bills. They get feelings of guilt, shame, or resentment. They start blaming other people, or panicking.”

I think there is one thing that is clear

People get attached to crypto in a way that they don't with other investments

They get attached to the idea of making millions quickly

They get into a mindset of "if it dips I will just buy more - diamond hands". Like a longterm GME

Ultimately, are people really buying into bitcoin as a technology? I have used bitcoin quite a few times to buy things etc. It's not very user-friendly. If you type the wrong bitcoin address your money gets lost forever lol. Plus thre are always fees to send it, sometimes wait-time too of several hours, depending on the fee rate you choose. Plus the fee is based on data not amount so sending $ 1mil can cost the same as sending $ 1. Basically its not practical to send very small amounts because the fees are too much (relatively)

I feel like if there wasn't the continual hype surrounding it and as Undine says, the addictive gambling risk side of it, then the actual price of a bitcoin would be pretty low

How is 1 bitcoin worth $ 63k? Like who is spending bitcoins and buying things making it worth $ 63k?

1 pig could be worth 20 chickens, I can see that but how is 1 bitcoin worth so much? The price is driven up by people wanting to get rich from buying crypto, not from the intrinsic value of bitcoin. Like one long ponzi scheme.. where is the money coming from? because not everyone can get rich, someone has to pay for it. New buyers pushing the price up but someone has to lose out in the end

Aw you're back lol. Gonna change the goal posts now? If someone wants to gamble on speculative dog coins or leverage trading (wouldn't recommend), thats their business. That's not what this thread is about or what some anecdotal story of what a Marini says (whoever that is). The thread has a one word title. Kinda hard to miss lol

I think it’s evident you know what you’re talking about …. Your life style shows you’re a successful man.

Some people are jealous and resentful of success in others and fearful/threatened by anything that’s outside the box.

I’d not communicate with them at all ~ It’s just a waste of energy.

I find it useful in a way because you can use the people with low comprehension skills as examples of exactly what you're talking about. I haven't gotten to where I am by being fearful to change or new information. Aries moons don't mind conflict. In fact, we have an office there 😄. I Posted for the people that will find value in it and are reading the info I've provided. Walk_on_by and BoredandBeautiful are brighter than any of the naysayers who've Posted in here so they get it. Quality over Quantity is also a Cap thing lol. They see the value in a limited supply asset with no controlling central authority to print more or manipulate it. The outdated narratives put forth by people like Undine were in the media as well. Blackrock themselves had put them out. Meanwhile, Blackrock was buying behind the scenes and pushing for their own ETF. The ETF's were a gamechanger on January 11th. It allowed investment firms and their clients to legally get in with the approval of the U.S. government through the SEC. Now these investment firms are buying hundreds of millions a day as are nation states. This was a huge opportunity for the retail investors like us. Normally, they are allowed to get in before everyone else at a lower rate but they had to wait for government approval. This week, 100% of Bitcoin investors were in profit. The info and the adoption is there. It's being bought at 3.7x the rate of gold currently in an inflationary environment where countries are debasing their currencies by printing massive amounts of dollars to cover interest on wasteful spending. I know you know this - just reiterating. We've had a little retracement. That's because the fraudulent exchanges FTX (through Sam Bankman Fried) and Gemini are selling their Bitcoin shares in Grayscale because they're legally obligated to pay back creditors. Those types of exchanges have been flushed out so after they get done selling, the price will continue upwards as the ETF's along with everyone else are still buying 100's of millions a day. The halving in mid-April where the amount of Bitcoin introduced goes from 900 to 450 a day will only accelerate this. So I'm super excited, despite the naysayers, we're sitting pretty 🍻

Lot of egos

It's trading on a volatile asset

Why are people acting like they know what the market will do?

Even professional traders get it wrong (often)

Invest if you want but stop acting like you have some surefire evidence

Ive seen bitcoin crash hard twice down to 25% of its ath (2017 and 2021)and knew people heavily invested both times and they lost a lot of money - and guess what? both those times they were told it was going to the moon for various reasons

It's why Wikipedia is frowned upon as a credible source for science research papers because Wikipedia also has no restrictions on who can contribute content.

Everything that has no restrictions is the most honest thing on the planet. It's the restrictions that create lies, delusions, manipulation and outright skewed reality. There is no right or wrong. There are no experts.

To be quite honest, I think it may have a cap in 10 years or so, but I'm happy with whatever I bought from 2011 lol. Sold em' and re-invested into other coins. I don't think it's good to rely on it, because anything can crash at any time. It's better to diversify your assets. Ultimately, it is a gamble....you never know what the cards have in store, but it is up to the person. Fractional bitcoin investments are a good option for this market.

Did you hold on to any bitcoin? Wasn’t it worth just a few cents in 2011?

Rumor that Morgan Stanley will approve Bitcoin ETF's on their platform in the next 2 weeks are getting stronger. Early this month, Morgan Stanley filed with the SEC so that 12 of their funds can buy BTC. Morgan Stanley has $ 1.5 trillion of assets under management.

Supply crunch incoming: Blackrock and Fidelity alone are buying 6 times the daily issuance of Bitcoin themselves. That will be 12 times starting April 19th when the amount of Bitcoin issued is cut from 900 to 450 a day.

I’ve a friend who has invested a fair bit in XRP

Would it be better to transfer those funds into Bitcoin now, or just before the halving?

What do you think?

Thanks

I don't really believe in XRP. It's an older one that wants to be a payment rail. There's others that do the same thing with better tech. I'd put it into Bitcoin if it were me. It's the safest and nothing is competing with it. The Bitcoin ETF is the most successful ETF in history. I would take that Xrp and put it into stablecoins (which get 5.1% interest) and wait until right after the halving. I bet Btc is going to run hot until the halving and then there will be a decent dip as people buy the rumor and sell the news. I've got 6k waiting to buy that dip.

Or they could put half into btc and half into stablecoins (to use for an expected dip). You don't want to be caught with no Bitcoin. In the next couple of weeks, China (through Hong Kong) should have their Bitcoin exchanges up and running. Volatility should lessen as the supply gets bought up. If this rate of adoption continues or even accelerates with nation states getting in, it's going to difficult to buy any at a low rate.

Whichever ones they have on their exchange. Likely USDC or USDT (tether). They're pegged to $ 1. The only difference between your friend selling their Xrp to their bank account and then buying back in is that if they put them in a Stablecoin, they get 5.1% interest. Might not matter much if they're just going to put it back into Btc shortly anyways. Whatever's easiest for them.

Attention Bitcoin #HODLers. This may be your last change to sell your #Bitcoin ฿ and buy some #gold and #silver at favorable prices. If you fail to act, have fun staying poor.

He's right tho...

Btc is about to get dumped HARD

but all you fools are like durrr bitcoin went up recently so bitcoin keep going up.. with no substance as to why? not learning shit from 2021 or the previous crashes.

There is no reason why bitcoin is valued at $ 70k . It's not very useful as a payment method commercially. It's good to transfer money without dealing with laws and exchange and so on but if you can't actually SPEND it except converting it to "real money" aka fiat then it has failed as a concept

You can buy vouchers (fiat money vouchers) with it and pay for some items in a few select shops but ultimately it has not been integrated except on the fringes. If someone like Amazon started acceptong bitcoin and made the process more user-friendly then it might have a real value

As of now, its highly speculative , i.e we are in a speculative bubble and when it retested 72k and rejected it, believe me you will see a sharp fall now, prob way loswer than you are expecting, especially once capitulation takes hold
