I'm Canadian, so I don't know what the bill entailed, could you share?

If it's anything against having an abortion, I'm not going to agree with it.

Alabama and Georgia are calling a 6 week old embryo (when most women don't know they are pregnant) a human and due full human rights. Abortion is now illegal in these states even when it comes to rape and/or incest and doctors performing the procedure will face 5-15 years in prison.

If men could get pregnant gas stations would offer abortions, lets be real.

Even if the organs of a dead person will save a baby's life, we cannot harvest those organs without CONSENT.

We have a problem when literal corpses have more bodily autonomy than living women.

You are right, at 6 weeks most don't even know they are pregnant. I didn't find out until 9 weeks or later.

Its not the states we are worried about. Its having cases brought to the supreme court which is now stacked with uber conservatives thanks to trumps people stealing Obamas pick plus having another pic. Roe vs wade would be overturned and there would be a precedent set.

Those decisions will effect legislature for the rest of our lifetime. Its implications are huge.

Defining someone as human and having human rights at the heart beat (6 weeks) has further reaching implications than just abortion.

Male circumcision should not be practiced per this definition as it is genital mutilation without consent.

We can no longer legally pull the plug on people who are brain dead because they have a heart beat.

Counter to all medical experts, the law also attempts to establish that a zygote, an embryo, a fertilized egg at 5.5 weeks has a beating heart. This is simply not true. At the earliest stages of pregnancy, certain embryonic cardiac activity can be detected with a trans-vaginal ultrasound. I don't think any of the men that spoke today have ever had a trans vaginal ultrasound. I have. And it is not pleasant.

Every physician has said that the fetal cardiac activity present early in pregnancies is not a beating heart—and no matter how many times you say it, no matter what you call this bill—it does not make it so.

Money solves most problems. You can fly your mistress to a Mexican resort and she can recover from her abortion while sipping margaritas and laying out by her private villa pool. While your back in the states pushing through legislature to ban and criminalize the same procedure you just paid for. These conservative politicians are definitely pro life, pro their own life. It is all over social media. There are claims that are ridiculously outrageous. It is almost impossible to fact check.

I have to wonder if this is a distraction to something much bigger going on in regards to women's rights.

They have been trying to push these heart beat bills for a few years now. Hasn't been a worry with roe vs wade and an equally conservative/liberal supreme court. Now court is more conservative with the 2 most recent additions.

Its about to get worse with the upcoming census which determines how much of a voice your area gets in politics as well as how much funds. With the anti-immigration rhetoric being pushed by our current government leaders, less people in urban areas will fill out the census which rural areas (read conservative) will gain more of a standing. This will effect us for the next 10 years until the next census.

So this may result in women crossing over the pond to have abortions, as happened for many years in Ireland

if they pass this bill, they shoud pass a bill about tracking the fathers down and make them not only pay for their children, but make them spend time with them

A big problem with our government is how our politicians are for sale.

As a woman, you were biologically blessed/ cursed with another task. So you have the ultimate responsibility to ensure that you or your partner is protected or to set the boundaries/conditions BECAUSE IT'S YOUR BODY.

As a guy, I don't have that problem and I can push you for unprotected sex all I want, but you are the one who will suffer and pay for it.

Wasn't there someone in here who's had like 4-5 abortions already? When you use abortions as a sort of retroactive contraceptive, I say the government should probably step in and decide over your body bc frankly you're too fucking dumb to live.

I dont agree with full abortion bans. Imo that will lead to worse circumstances for women, and the child. What I mean is if women cant safely get an abortion they will find dangerous non medically safe ways to do so.

What I think is a much better solution is more of a process to get an abortion. Like more options for parenting help, adoption, or even people who want to adopt already lined up and willing to help women during the whole pregnancy. Then if they still strongly want to kill their baby at the least have a safe sterile place they can do so

Thats how humans from both sides of the spectrum somewhat meet in the middle.

I'm thinking really hard on ways to hit back. The health care system made up predominately of women was my first thought. Although I tend to think a bit unrealistic sometimes, doesn't always work in reality.. But people will strike for more money, to me this human right is more important than money. A dude will get you preggars but you suffer the biggest consequences if you don't make sure you are practicing safe sex.

Also, because you decide over your body (and the baby's), a guy has no saying in your decision to keep the baby (or not).

Ultimately a man's off the hook regardless if his reservations are moral, ethical or religious bc it's the woman's decision. That's why I don't understand how anyone can say it takes two to tango. As a woman, you have the ultimate responsibility in this matter BECAUSE a man has no saying and bc it is YOUR body.

These bills are being drafted precisely because Trump was elected and appointed two conservative justices to the SCOTUS. If those two vacancies had been filled with liberal justices, challenges to these bills would likely not even be heard by the SCOTUS.

Ultimately a man's off the hook regardless if his reservations are moral, ethical or religious bc it's the woman's decision. That's why I don't understand how anyone can say it takes two to tango. As a woman, you have the ultimate responsibility in this matter BECAUSE a man has no saying and bc it is YOUR body.

I think not.

That is not to say, that condoms can fail of no fault of the man, and that your argument can be applied to those situations. But to completely absolve men of any responsibility as well, over procreation, and that it lays solely on a women, is being blind and stupid.

There are women and men, in this world, that have poked holes through condoms. There are men in this world, that have spread AIDS to partners for the hell of it. Both genders, have responsibilities. Not just women.

There's little that can be done at this point.

Politicians are owned by wealthy corporate donors who have control over most necessary aspects of the lives of Americans (utilities, health care, food, etc.), so there isn't even a way to cut off the flow of money to pols and financially starve them into submission.

Women make up majority of the health care system that everyone relies on. Hit them there. The hospitals can't function without staff, most of which is made up by women. Yes, I realize it's a stretch and only my first spur of the moment thought, majority are not going to strike and need their income to survive, but it could work.. I'll keep thinking on this and try to come up with better solutions.

That just hurts the people that can't pay for private health care, and are forced to use public health care.

I'm talking about all health care. Even those who use private would be effected if there is no staff. They aren't going to just come to work for the private payers. I know it's not a likely fix anyways. I tend to get a bit ahead of myself with the out of the box thinking. Lmao
