I know to be grateful to still be working during this pandemic because a lot of people arent But I am getting fed up with the company I am working for.

They are hardcore micromanaging us with the dumbest garbage. No matter how good our stats are for each employee theres one little thing wrong they treat as a huge situation

Example - yesterday I was called to my mgrs desk with no indication like she normally says to take myself out of taking calls. As a result I had 1 missed call Then the next day she sends an email demanding to know why I missed the call even thought I missed no other ones. I nicely put in a email response that i was called away to her desk and should have taken myself out where I didnt get calls. Even though she is supposed to give the ok to do so, because doing without consent gets us in to trouble

Another example - We get automated collection calls for sprung forth on us without any warning for patients regarding unreturned machines. We have 10 ring to answer We use that time before answering to do research on acct to find out if unit was already returned or if it wasnt so we dont look like a deer caught in headlights if we answer right away since it takes time for researching

My ring time was 5.5 seconds and limit is 2 seconds now Normally I answer right away, but I had a ton of automated collection calls that i had to answer which threw my stats off Mgr was riding me hardcore for that even though I explained I had at least 10 automated calls yesterday

This company I work has so many issues with their machines that are sent out because of not doing an indepth examination into them before getting them out. So I take a lot of abuse threats by the public to end my job even the situation with the machines wasnt my fault

I have been having a ton of emails from places for job opportunities right now. I am going to start applying hardcore as the company I work for is too toxic and too stressful to keep working there anymore. I have been with them for almost 2 years and am burnt out on the companys abuse and the public's as well I was going to leave out of state right before covid happened so I got derailed And am now focused on trying to get another job no matter how long or difficult that may be due to unemployment being up due to co-vid

I know I am supposed to count my blessings but kind of hard if those blessings will kill you with stress

Take a look at your bank statements and examine your spending. Really look at it. Cut the bad habits, and stop spending money where you don't need to be; stack your money. And when this pandemic abates, look for new work. Or, open your own business. The reality is, so long as you -need- that paycheck, and/or so long as you don't own your own business, you will be beholden. Do something about it.

I am looking for work right now. Went on my lunch break and applied for a position as admin for medical office

I'm not pinning my hopes and dreams on getting it, given the increase in competition But I am going to make it a habit of applying during lunch and after work on a weekday basis. Then try to apply on weekends since I need to be locked inside anyway

I have 99 hrs of paid time off they have to pay me if I leave or get fired and already have some money saved.

If I get fired, worst case scenario is I'll leave Santa Barbara and go back to Texas to do some freelance research gigs that i used to do before I left But I have to do research ahead of time and find out if the market has been completely destroyed by co-vid or if its still there

If things look good, will go back to texas for a bit to rebuild my budget and then move to Florida. I was looking to move out of Santa Barbara anyway, but if no job opportunities dont come here and free lance work is still good in texas, will happily leave Santa Barbara. I am really over Cali at this point after living here for 7 years

I am just trying to keep my head down for the next month or so to be a good little corporate slave.

My main complaint about Santa Barbara was the lack of opportunities here that make you have to stay in dead end job like mine. But I always said I would stay if I got a different job since I finally have a room by myself in a good neighborhood.

Dating here sucks if you are in your late 30's, since there is nothing but early 20's girls floating around. But since covid is in effect dating doesnt really matter at this point. And even though we do have cases for the city they are very low compared to LA and San Fran.

I find it interesting some people dont fully pay attention to the little details in the news While SB County has 100 something cases of CO-VID, the city is like 50 something including an additional 10 for undocumented .

Dont get me wrong, I am isolating when I dont have to work or go to the store. And washing my hands, groceries like they are going out of style .

I actually think our city may rebound faster from CO-VID in the next few months just due to us being smaller in population, and clean air as well. And people aside from a few dumba-- college kids socializing in groups, seem to be being responsible otherwise

Funny too, that my old city of Austin is doing well as far as co-vid. despite cancelling the SXSW fest. Their covid #'s havent got out of hand like other places which is good to hear

I actually do think certain areas of the country will probably recover quicker, but it will still takes months to do so

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

What concerns me atm is that the media is pushing this rhetoric that its seasonal like the flu and we will be back to normal by the end of the month. I've seen no science backed info that confirms warm weather ends this thing.

One good thing about change, as painful as it may be, is that is forces growth. I'm using this time to take a hard look at whats next for me. Sounds like your heads in the same place.

I feel like this is happening a lot across the board, everyone is stuck in a situation of uncertainty and there is a lot at stake. Managers and Executives seem to be excising more control over what they can to feel better.

I know my company is on a financial cliff right now, and it wont take much to fall. I know its sucks i have my own complaints, but you may not be aware of how much pressure people are under right now.

I 100% agree Its not going to go away. But I do think by mid June there may be a minor brief reprieve where some areas of the country will see a covid drop off.

And then come fall when heat temperatures drop, COVID Cases will come back like a vengeance

Yeah I am doing a hard assessment as well Turning the big 40 this year so, I need to make big changes to my life even if it involves a risky move. Provided I make it to 40 and dont die of COVID.

I always thought I may die a few months after turning 40. Lot of people in my age range are dying off of non-covid related issues

So I was already kind of really sweating hard before COVID hit. Just eternally grateful I have no children to worry about and not being married. I feel like I have made wise life decisions which has buffered me from nightmarish situations

@astrobyn - Oh this micromanagement was going on before CO-VID hit. They think micromanaging pt care dept will rectify the issues with the company. When the issues are not with the dept but with the technicians who create and inspect the units and shipping dept

Most of the patients are upset due to their screwups on that end. And no matter how sugary and sweet we come across to patients, it is not going to fix the issue even though they think it will.

Our company is run by a bunch of novices since this was a start up originally that grew over the years. Their greed and ego inflated to where the employees like myself and patients are suffering for their lack of wanting to speed money in areas that need it. The company was having huge turn over before CO-VID hitm and we were speculating how long it would be before they would annouce bankruptcy.

But CO-VID bought them some time for right now. I am really hoping on the brief reprieve for the summer so I can escape. They treat us like we are in boot camp and no matter how good we do, it is never good enough

I think I am going to talk to an old pagan friend of mine so I can get some good luck and money spells casted too. Besides looking for work I need all the goodwill I can get and spell casting has worked before. I know some people have this stereotype of spells being evil or not working but if it works for me and harms no one, then its no one's concern

Good plan! It's gotta be pretty hard to get ahead in Cali. It's just so expensive there. I myself am heading to Florida soon, too!

Good to hear. I think Florida will be one of those places that gets the drop off for CO-VID in summer since they get really hot

Plus that heat stays longer in the fall as well. I am looking to move to the Tampa area or West Palm Beach Still debating.

I am going to miss the non-humidity of cali and safety of santa barbara. But its not a place I can grow anymore financially or dating. Im not interested in turning into Matthew McConaughey's character in Dazed and Confused but this time chasing college girls Yeech :p

Yeah, I'll be heading to the Tampa area. I'm dreading the heat. I'm a tall white dude and going to fucking burn like someone dumped kerosene on me. I lived in Okinawa for three years, actually, I was living there when I joined DXP. That was..11 years ago. But yeah, I burned so badly that I had SHEETS of skin peeling off me. And I recall sitting in this little dive bar and felt tugging on my arm. I look over and there's this little okinawan woman peeling skin off my arm and cheesing at me lmao. So weird.

Anyways, I've been looking at jobs down in florida and it looks largely like a service economy. I'm not super thrilled about that, but will make it work. I wish you the best of luck!
