Well, after one half of Fiori vs Juve, Serie A still doing everything to look like they are just making up video refereering rules on the job.

Posted by tizianiwow
wow, talk about a kick in the face.
ex-Fiorentina player Bernardeschi wins a freekick against his old team on the edge of the box, OVERRULES the regular Juve FK taker Pjanic and insists he wants to take it.
Then sure enough buries a goal against his former team, against the run of play because Fiorentina have been on top in this match, and Bernardeschi celebrates wildly like the corporate champion he is.

Posted by tizianirofl
"now, die Bernardeschi die?
You see the Bern never.... EVER forgot that.
And he's gonna make damn sure you never forget it as well."

Posted by tizianiJust a step away from taking back what is theirs
well that's done. Higuain beats the offside trap, 2-0 over. Juve manage to win sitting back and taking their moment as usual, treating the league like a stepping stone to their big CL match midweek.

Posted by HippieGemLol it's ok. Someday we will win ๐
@Capricorn91 I lost :/ You can pick now, lol.

Roma have the best social media team in the world

Posted by tizianiI did look up the odds for todays match ups and nothing jumped off enough in my quick research. Maybe when they get down to 16 as well the odds will be better
Europa League nights - the basement competition of Europe no one wants to be in.
But always throws up the odd very good match.

Posted by tizianiWhat do you mean
Maple Leafs/Andersen talk breaking out on a Roma forum tonight lol

Posted by tizianiPosted by AfternoonDelights22It's a topic on the Roma forum i post on, about whether Roma are really going to sell the goalkeeper this summer (probably the only world class player in the team) and talk about the world's best keepers.Posted by tizianiWhat do you mean

Then it turns out there are 3-4 Maple Leafs fans amongst our forum all along and it turns into a talk about Andersen and Leafs management. Just funny.click to expand

Posted by tizianiYeah I think they went the way that the NFL tried it for a little while where a player drafts their own team for the game rather than the 2 conferences battling it out
They name the All-Star teams in NBA after players now?

Posted by tizianiSo true. At least the NFL would do it where old hall of fame players would draft each team not a current player
if i were a pro all-star player and I had to play on "team Stephen" wtf

A reminder that the trade deadline is only 3 days away
Which means were a third of the way through the season
Which also means were only a few weeks away until shit starts getting real as some teams get close to being playoff eligible
Can we have more of that Super Bowl format?

"You gave up smoking. Are you giving up football?"
"Football is the only place I like to be fooled. Football is three things: time, space and deception. But if there is no time, spaces are not found and so it no longer deceives me either. I get bored feeling what I do when i watch what they now call football, which is something else. Everyone would like to be Guardiola. But most do not know how."
Cesar Menotti.

Posted by tizianiTheres prolly some truth to that. During the long DXPIL offseason I would sometimes watch old football games on the footballia website. Some of those old classic games are great. I wish there was a hockey website like that.Posted by AfternoonDelights22I took it as he's pretty much just getting at what we were both getting at when we said football and ice hockey is mostly unwatchable nowadays.Posted by tizianiWhat does he mean or is he high lol

He's ranting about people who are afraid to lose and play low percentage football really.
But a lot of what he says also sounds like an old man struggling to move on from old glories.

But who knows maybe the world cup will be exciting. It wont be without the USA nor Italy which is crazy, but maybe the Socceroos will be a nice underdog to root for. Doubtful xD
You were watching football or futbol?
Not to kill your enthusiasm but international football is a borefest lol People playing like strangers because they train together like 2 weeks of the year before a tournament.
The only real exception is Germany or Spain, or any country that manages to hustle together 6-8 guys who play in the same team throughout the season at club level (Bayern and Barcelona).click to expand

Posted by tizianirofl that was roughPosted by AfternoonDelights22Football got messed up by money. Now it really is that 8/10 teams max in the world just live for the Champions League and that's it. You can see the players way more pumped up on CL game nights giving it their all.Posted by tizianiI was mostly watching old World Cup games or old FA Cup finalsPosted by AfternoonDelights22Posted by tizianiTheres prolly some truth to that. I used to love the world cup when I was younger. The one in 2014 mostly sucked tho
Back in the day when guys couldn't be millionaires just by sitting on a bench, they were hungrier to get out there and show their stuff.
2014, I still watch Brazil 1-7 Germany. When the Brazilian kids are crying shellshocked in the audience while Toni Kroos celebrates..... heel shit ๐

Posted by tizianiProbably seems to be a football trend with the rigging
I read a great World Cup story about Argentina's World Cup win in 78 where they needed to beat Peru by 4 goals or more and it's rumoured the right-wing military goverment of Argentina broked a deal with Peru's govt for political prisoners in exchange for Peru throwing the game.
Argentina won 6-0, went onto the final for a revenge match against Holland and won the whole thing.

Posted by tizianiI can finally watch a champions league game today
Need a superman performance from Kante tonight.

Posted by tizianiYeah Barcelona or draw were the slight favorites todayPosted by AfternoonDelights22On paper Chelsea-Barca is close to the best you can get any season, some great grudge matches down the years.Posted by tizianiI can finally watch a champions league game today

The 60s had a wonderstory of Bologna winning the title in a race against time with their President of 30 years (and one of the biggest benefactors in the history of the city of Bologna) on his deathbed. Bittersweet ending.
But other than that it was the Milan sides dominating.
70s Juve dominates.
the 80s is when Napoli pull of signing Maradona and everything changes. Then from the late 80s onwards through the 90s it's the age of the "Seven Sisters" (Juve, Milan, Inter, Roma, Parma, Fiorentina, Lazio) all with ridiculously strong team, star names, world class players. It was the place to be for world football.
