If a guy asks to cook you dinner at his house and then take you out to a movie on the first date is this a red flag? Should first dates be in public only?

don't go to his place on the 1st date, 2nd and ... until you feel comfortable and know him better. this would eliminate the need to wonder should i do this or not.

also, who cares about his cooking skill on the 1st date tbh lol

I am asking because when i was in relationships, sex was also so important to me too....am not sure that was always a good thing (for me), in retrospect?

Sure, all eras had fucked up shit, but it seems there is a lot more sex entitlement going around, with the likes of Tinder. Never been on it but the idea of it is creepy.

The sexual entitlement is so prolific now... I do blame the internet for its easy access to porn so everyone growing up around it thinks women are sex dispensers and we have people like Elliot Rodger coming out of the woodwork.

Now we have people treating real life like Tinder where a girl can't sit waiting for a bus without getting approached by some random who obviously wants to just hook up, and we risk getting verbally abused if we are lucky.
Telling someone outright that you are taken doesn't always work, and while a lot of men are pretty cool about it and bow out gracefully, a lot more hurl abuse at you for daring to be chaste.

Sex is personal and I am not about to throw all my vulnerability under the bus so some guy can use me as a human masturbatory aid. GTFO

I think it's always best to err on the side of safety and keep things public for a while. Inviting you to his house may not be a red flag but you usually can't tell who the dangerous psychos are until it's too late. And as another poster has said, if he insists on getting you home alone be very wary.

Here's my piece:

I met a Gem thru an app about 2 weeks ago, we liked each other a lot and communicated for a few days. First date was ar his place and they had a neighbor party. I wasn't required to have sex or even stay there if I didn't want to. He did not pressure me into anything.

Did I stay and did we have sex? Absolutely. We just played it by ear, and both wanted to proceed with it. Since then we hung out and had sex a couple more times, no big deal. We find each other interesting and attractive. Sex itself is amazing.

Do I hang on his neck 24/7, wanting to know where he is or saying that I miss him? No. Does he do the same? No. Do I have my guard down? No - too many shitty people around, you never know. Does he keep consistent contact with me by phone/text/whatever though, and plans activities other than fucking? Yes.

So here's that. It is what it is, and I'm not about to obide to "social norms" for the sake of the masses that don't matter in my personal happiness, just because I choose to live in the present situation, where both of us enjoy each other in more ways than one.

Whatever happens next is in the future, which has yet to come. Which means that it's not yet a reality. So why overworry and jump to conclusions?

Isn't being/doing/taking/giving/sharing what you want - a part of being genuine?



And the above thing with "cooking for me at his place beig a red flag" - just enjoy and find something better to occupy your mind with. Your brain has enough shit to process without you fucking it with stupid questions.

Side note: since OP isn't in a rush to update us with how things went, I betcha some fat cash that she's enjoying her damn time 😄 regardless of the outcome
