I've noticed it was certain types of guys to call me certain types of things who only see certain sides of me. I will give examples.
I was dancing in a club one night with my friends and a guy had apparently been watching me from afar the whole time. Creepy, I know. One of my other friends happened to be the cousin of said guy and came over to me after I had sat down to catch my breath momentarily. She told me he said I was, "Hot". My dancing involves a lot of hip movements and I guess one could consider it "hot". He had called me a few times to get me to go with him to a sketchy part of town. The thing is, I hadn't even seen his face nor did he introduce himself properly. He was a contradiction. Shy yet forward, but I refused to pursue it further because normally when guys say "hot" it's usually about the physicality of relationships i.e. lust and sex.
Another guy I'm friends with called me "cute". He's known me since I was about fifteen so of course he would only really think of me as a cute girl -- not a gorgeous woman. The discussions we have are very platonic so I think when guys call women cute it's not to say they think they're a child, but that they probably couldn't or don't want to imagine them as a pin-up.
A few guys have called me beautiful; all of which were seeking out some sort of long-term relationship and some succeeded at getting that from me. Make of that what you will.
I haven't heard gorgeous said to anyone at all, but have heard fine as hell quite a bit. I think gorgeous is an outdated word. I think pretty is a lot more common. I've heard guys call girls pretty, but I also think societal wise, pretty is okay for women to refer to other women as. I've heard more women call other women pretty than I've heard men call other women pretty.
Though based on those examples I can see differences in the uses of each word and why they're used as opposed to other like words, I think they're pretty much the same thing aside from beautiful versus cute. I think beautiful and cute are two different things. When I think of cute I think of bunnies, lollipops and puppies. When I think of beautiful I think of sunsets, Por Una Cabeza instrumental, and a person with great character to match their great looks.

I know!!! Leave it to us to go against the grain! Yeah, I hear ya' though. I typically get sexy the most. I think that sexy is good, because it doesn't have to do necessarily w/looks. It's a "way" that one has about themselves. There are people who are traditionally attractive, but are sexy as hell. So, I'll take sexy any day of the week!

Is that what it is Ginger? Because I have red hair and freckles and I get called cute all the time. It doesn't bother me, but it would be nice to get called something else every once in awhile you know? When I first met the last Aqua guy I was with he was like aww you are cute! Then later on it moved to you are so hot! That's all it ever was though.....cute and hot. I don't think I've ever gotten called beautiful before. In all seriousness, just being silly. I can be summed up as a "Goof looking for his ball". Just got out of my morning Saturday course, and I can see the tail end of this crunch mode. This first month of this semester has been nothing but a sprint so I'm looking forward to it going back to a smooth, controlled pace in October. Time for a long nap, turn in 1 more assignment and a test online before midnight, then hopefully have a nice with a very nice dinner, bunch of laughs, a few beers or glasses of wine, and very primal sex if I could only be so lucky!
