Does it bother you to see people dressing up as serial killers? For example, the current Dahmer craze

Do you think there are certain Halloween costumes that are off limits?

It kills me the number of ppl getting upset about old songs with lyrics about Dahmer now that they "know who he is". Like, the lyrics didn't change.. what did you *think* he was infamous for with lines like "I'll eat your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer" (dark horse by Katy Perry & juicy j)

I am not the type to get offended by shit really so I didn’t see the issue with the Dahmer costumes, especially given the Freddy and Jason costumes have never been a problem to these same people. Although they are fictional characters, I believe they could be based on real killers (could be wrong about that too)

But I can see how families of victims might feel about it

I had a cousin pass away when we were only 8 years old and my aunt and uncle never let her sister participate in Halloween again because they just didn’t think dead people, skeletons, etc was cute or funny anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't mind ppl dressing up as fictional killers like Jason or Freddy but I think it is bad taste to dress up as Dahmer. Dude was sick and shouldn't be glorified.

Agreed. I can’t help but think about the family members of his victims and how sick they must feel to see this MF glorified the way he is right now 😒

No, but I understand why the families of the victims would be hurt and offended.

The way I see it, it's offensive to dress up as certain types of people because they deserve respect and shouldn't be reduced to a costume (ie Native American costumes, Asian attire, etc).

So saying people shouldn't dress up as Dahmer (essentially poking fun at him) indirectly sends the message that he's deserving of respect.

I think it will only goes too far if they added bloody body part props to their costumes or other things that directly mock the victims, but simply being Dahmer for Halloween isn't that bad. My opinion though.
