I have conversations with people making more than I do on a daily basis. Personally, I get motivated. When I find out where they spend their money like buying a new car, sending their kids to fancy private schools or buying vacation houses.. I get jealous in a positive way. In my mind, I start thinking wow. So that's the level someone has to be in to be able to afford what we can see on TV that's being purchased by celebs. It's inspiring for me. And not once did it make me feel inadequate or lacking. If I end up at that level later in life, then I will be happy. If not then its OK too. But I will try hard to at least be comfortable.

Now... I also know some people who feel like they are lacking in some way when they hear about other people's success or how much someone makes. Some deny that they don't want that much money or that they don't want to move up in their career. Some get upset about it.

I'm curious how you feel about other people's success or money. Does it motivate you or does it upset you?

Motivating/inspiring for me. But I don't think I have *rich* friends/acquaintances around me. If other people/celebs earn more than I do and buy a new house, fancy car or designer clothes I'm like "good for you/them" and not in a sarcastic envious way. I just think they're blessed and wish them luck, that's it.

I focus on my own life and the reason I worked my way up to Management level is because I want to give my son a bright future and make sure my elderly mom live the rest of her golden years comfortably (and myself when the time comes). I'm proud of my own journey albeit the hard lessons I had to learn. If I can't afford a Chanel bag or a BMW? No problem, I'll settle for my everyday Alt Manila tote and Toyota. I do love jewelry though so I save up. I'm always saving LMAO.

As long as I'm debt-free and can provide my son's and my mom's basic needs with me building my own personal savings, I'm good.

How I feel about other people's success or money? Does it motivate me or upset me? Naw. In the back of my mind I'm like am I suppose to be flattered by all your worldly possessions. It's good that they got what they want and earned it all but it would be cringeworthy to me if they being narcissistic about it then show off. I got plenty cash and can afford whatever I want at just about any given day but by no means I'm rich. I really do feel like I was meant to be on this planet to be good looking and poor.

I don't care about other people's money or successs because I'm not interested in climbing the corporate ladder to earn more money. I guess it depends on how you define success. I do find it inspiring when someone works with what is their passion.

As for people having expensive things. I don't care. Materialistic things don't do anything for me. On the contrary they are just a burden and ties me to a place. I'm have a nomadic mindset. I think I would be the happiest living in a van going from place to place. 😅

It won't be fair to talk about my money and how good looking I am (yes even at my current age I still look like a gotdang baby in the face believe it or not) and yes still poor even though I got SOME money and not mention nothing about success. The only success I currently have right now is how much I succeeded in putting in all the hard work in learning multiple musical instruments. Guitar, piano (didn't had to work hard at the piano if it only took me 1 day to learn that easy instrument), banjo, mandolin, ukulele, acoustic bass guitar and getting the hang of the harp currently. I'm not giving up on my harp. I got faith in me that I'll be an expert at that someday. Still at it. So if anybody can achieve all those successful talents I've achieved much quicker than me only then I'll be jealous and give you all the praise and glory. Everything else outside of musical talents already been achieved many moons ago. I'm not impressed by money. Money can't buy success to be talented.

It matters how they treat me. If they are assholes them having money makes it even easier for me to tell them "you better don`t socialize with peasants you uppity prick". If they are not assholes I would love to pick their brains about stuff like communication strategies in selling/negotiaitions etc. Because you have to have social skills and some industry knowledge to sell your product to lots of people and build a network with the local politicians and industry leaders. They definetly have a wealth of knowledge and skills that I want to have.

Irl they are not as inspriring as they are make out to be. I have read on reddit some celebrity chefs who cater to the rich secretly hate them because they wouldnt care for a dish that was created with love and craftmanship but doesnt have any popular brand label. And that applies to some of the rich people i met.

I feel like their money doesn’t look as expensive on them as it would on me 😅but that isn’t speaking for everyone. I’ve seen businessmen and went like oh yeah that Patek Philippe suits you. You’re like 1 in a million.

"Fuck me dead" I couldn't find it, but he had a video complaining about young people wearing Pateks which was even more hilarious.

I choose my career out of passion not for the money. You get bs money as the designer in comparison. Shit the realtor will make a bigger cut selling the property than the consultants who designed it. I do like playing with peoples money tho. Living vicariously through other peoples wallets might be the best part of my job. That and my flexible work schedule. Free time is the biggest flex of all.

It’s interesting to see how people display their level of wealth. The 7-8mill homeowners are flashy, drive the latest luxury cars, and tend to be covered in name brands. For me 6-10k design.

But the ultra wealthy show up to their 50mill+ site in nondescript sweats in a beat up bronco. Sure still a 70k car but not flashy in the least. Very understated and normie. I can compare the vibe to hipsters wanting to look homeless 😆

For me 30k+ design.

Success for me is when these big developers call me to design for their own personal properties. That’s the validation I need.

Also side bar and off topic, I’ve notice the wealthier the developer the shorter he is 😂 Literally. Without fail.

I don’t have a big enough sample size of female developers to make a comparison.

But with the dudes it’s so true. Napoleon complex ftw.

To answer your OP, the thing I like the greatest about my placements is that I don’t suffer from what I consider an ailment: jealousy. Why? Because I’m too self-obsessed with what I want to care what others have (aloofness). I do also have that well-known trait of God complex that Aquas are known for where I don’t feel less than anyone. I have never in my life felt like I was less than anyone in any regard so when someone tries to belittle me for something, I interpret that as disrespect.

Moreover, I just think that what people have is either they were conferred that by being born in a rich family or they work hard for it. It is what it is. Lastly, I do however think that if you have wealth, you should do charity and practice the act of giving. Nothing irks me more than a wealthy miser like Scrooge or people who take from others (attending their dinner parties but have zero social etiquette to take a gift with them to the party).

Being rich and buying lavishly doesn’t inspire me. Sometimes it’s mommy & daddy’s money you know? Working your ass off and creating something, and being able to buy what you want to have a good life without overextending yourself impresses me.

I’ve seen too many people lose everything because they needed to keep up with everyone else.

I’m good with my townhouse I own by myself, my brand new reasonable car, and financially in a good place & no stress about it. That is due to me working hard in career and it’s been this way for most of my adulthood. Well not after divorce stress and moving somewhere my salary was severely cut, but I have overcome & back to where I was before, but better financially. Wish my place was a house with one more bedroom for the revolving door of children, but I’m in a good place & not overextended.

When I see people doing well financially, I always wonder how much they do for society. I feel like at some point when you’re making SO much, you have a responsibility to society—which you are a part of. I was raised in a similar fashion as my mother donated lots of money to our church and other charitable organizations when she passed away, and while living. Now I’m not a religious person by any means but that made an impact on me.

I always think about all the good collectively these people could do. I mean, those at the tippy top have enough wealth practically to solve some of our world problems we have today lol. Can’t hate on them for wanting to pass on wealth for generations, but what kind of world do you want for them? Might as well try to support organizations paving the way for a better tomorrow.

Accept your circumstances not you fate.

I have no desire for money beyond comforts and flexibility. It's vague because that's how I am about it. I don't feel anyway about other people's success. At best it would be the ability to move where ever I want and visit where ever I want. That doesn't require much other then time.

P.S. People who spend their life chasing money to excess levels and spend in excess, hope that gold plated toilet makes you happy. That empty 23 room mansion, and 3 pools you never swim in. Seriously what's the point?

My father and his materialistic success gives me inspiration and drive. He didn’t forget about his spirituality in the process. Gives back to the community.

He has a Leo sun, Scorpio moon and Saturn sits on his moon. People come to him for guidance and low key healing. He’s talked many people off the financial edge. A comforter.

I’ve decided it’s not only the superior work ethic but how he makes people feel that got him where he is.

Most people with a ton of money and success got somewhat of a boost from their parents having money and success. Not always though.

It doesn't really bother me. I make enough money to live life the way I personally want, so it means very little. Even if I made millions a year I'd likely still be an introvert, and still buy cheap clothes and expensive food, just like I do now. I'd also likely live in a smaller house, because I find them more comfortable.

So bacislly what I'm saying is I could have all the money and success a human could dream of, yet it would mean nothing. It wouldn't make me feel happy, or like it even matters. I'd likely become appalled by the excess of objects and money, and hate myself even more over time. At least now I have to grind and work hard, which actually makes me feel better and more grounded. So a part of me feels kind of bad for people with dumb amounts of money and success. They gave up the freedom of being a more free human on a basic level to have more money and objects then a human even needs. So life and all the success ends up meaningless imo. Especially when you can't even go out in public without being bothered or threatened due to status.
